Chapter Text
Simon:
Walking through the crowded streets past the homeless begging for some food and the noble men and women walking past them, their eyes fixed on the pathway infront of them, not slowing down so they don’t get asked for spare change has always been challenging.
Particularly when you want to kick those snobs in the face, pulling them back to reality - out of their bubble - yelling at them “These people are the sole reason most of you can live such a luxurious live and you’re not even considering to help them!”
But I don’t. Since I won’t have to wait too much longer to take matters in my own hands.
After all, the town criers have announced The Pitch heirs festival a week ago. Announcing the engagement party of Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch with Agatha Wellbelove, that is more like a glorified way to show their immense wealth in form of a big festival, for everyone to take out their best clothes and jewellery to go in search of a partner themselfs.
He’s a real piece of shit. Opening the doors of the Pitch estate for everyone to show of his wealth, give them a glimpse of what they can’t have and throw them out as soon as the party’s over, completely ignoring the real struggles us people have to go through.
Crossing the next street and making a swift left turn, up the stairs into a small alley that is overgrown with wild plants and forget-me-not’s, I stand infront of Penny’s shop. The wavering wood. It’s a strange name, but I like it. It kind of suit’s the aesthetic if I’m being honest. I knock our signal and get pulled in by Shepard, who greets me with a warm hug.
The books in the shop are all made from scratch by Penny, wanting to teach the towns children how to read and write (illegally. The books, I mean. That’s why she copies them from originals, so she can afford them)
, lying around in various places, the section for arts is a mess and just around the corner is an old radio, playing “I love you baby” (Definitely Shepards choice).
“I’m here!” I call out in the direction I assume Penny to be.
Soon after, Penny stands directly behind me, with what seems to be the needed utensils and clothes for my upcoming trip to the Grimm Pitch estate.
“You’re late” she states.
“I know, but I’m here now aren’t I?” I answer, my shoulders shrugging.
She pulls me with her, leaving Shepard with a short peck on the lips to tend to the shop, and moves a box out of the way, to reach for the hidden lid that leads to our hidden room.
“You know the plan, right? Be charming, flirt with the targets we picked out, distract them and don’t pull to much attention to yourself, understood? And just steal things that look like we can pass them of as some of our old valuable stuff.”
She turns to me. “And don’t you dare try to get the attention from Agatha, it’s not worth it, she’s in the past.”
I pause, thinking of what to say before nodding.
She sighs. “I know you miss her, I do too, but she decided to ignore and leave us in the past so you better do that as well”.
“She didn’t ignore us!” I defend her, knowing that what Penny said is the exact truth.
Agatha and I had been together for four years, before she decided to cave in and marry into wealth.
Goddamn Pitch.
Penelope looks at me with a worried look. “Let’s concentrate on our plan”.
She brings out a map from our secret lair, as I like to call it, and hands it to me.
“This is the map for pitch Manor, try to remember it. I will be guiding you to the groups we target and Shepard serves whoever we searched out first, got it?”
“Yes” - “Good, after that, we leave as quietly as possible. I’ve got a friend who works there, she’ll get us in and out without anyone noticing we were even there.”
She presses the utensils and clothes together with my mask into my chest ( have I mentioned it is also a masked ball? No? Well I have now).
“We’ll meet in the woods infront of the festival” - “Got it”.
With all of that said, she ushers me to the door while I pack everything she gave me into my backpack and step out of ‘the wavering wood’.
Our plan is to rob a few wealthy people, who won’t miss a few small things, so that we can actually make a difference and help people in need. (Like Robin Hood. I like the thought of that. A hero who steals from the rich and gives it to the poor. We’ve made ourselves a name with our acts. Although the people think, there is only one person behind the scheme)
But before I rob anyone, better get to ‘Ebb’s Goat house’, the small but lively bar. Today she’s making my favourite sour cherry scones. And there’s always some apple cider there.
After that, I better rest for the festival and ball that starts this evening.
This is gonna be our biggest catch yet, five days in a row partying with enough people, who don’t know how to spend their money.
Of course we’ll have to watch out, since the Pitch family won’t take the thief problem lightly and probably already has half of their guards standing aside to help keep thief’s out or catch them.
God I hope Penny’s friend is trustworthy…
Baz
Today the festival Is finally gonna start. I’ve been waiting for this for way too long, it’s unnerving.
Marriage hasn’t always been my plan. Especially not when I’m not even close to being interested in women in general, particularly Agatha.
My father has been nothing but fully delighted at my proposal to marry Agatha and didn’t even question my intend.
I guess as long as I marry a women and reproduce offspring, he’s willing to overlook anything.
But with me getting married, I get the title of the head of the house of the Grimm-Pitch family.
And with that, I can finally get our town in order, fixing things that my father has since been neglecting after my mom died when in was five.
With the marriage I might be doomed to a live of sneaking men in and out of my bedroom and pretending to be a happy family with Agatha infront of my father, but it’s for a better cause.
