“What the heck are you doing!?” The tone of Bakugo’s voice was angry, but the smirk tugging at his lips proved that he wasn’t mad at all about what was going on. He found it rather amusing.

“Shut up, Katsuki.”

Shinso pulled him down the hall, tugging him by his wrist. Very professional if they wanted whatever was going on between them to be kept a secret. Everybody knew that no one was allowed to touch Bakugo. So of course, it’s totally believable when someone like Shinso, who can’t even protect himself before his explosions, would play with literal fire like this.

Some students sent horrified looks as they moved out of their way. They recognized the mix of blond hair and fiery red eyes in the hallway. He had a reputation, certainly. And in everyone’s eyes, the taller boy with indigo hair had a death wish if he was just casually dragging him behind himself.

At the end of the hallway, Shinso pushed the blond into an empty classroom and shut the door behind them.

“The fuck is wrong with you?” Bakugo walked to the front of the room the second that Shinso let go of his hand. He sat down on top of the desk in the first row, facing the blackboard. There were some math equations left on the board from the last class.

He didn’t know whose classroom it was, but it was definitely not theirs. They didn’t have math yet. And frankly, the blond didn’t even care whose class he was in. At least not as long as Shinso was staring at him with those hungry eyes.

“Wrong with me? You are the one who let yourself be dragged here. I could be a masked villain.” Shinso walked closer to him. He stopped right before the desk that Bakugo was sitting on. Standing between his legs, his hands gripped the sides of the desk on either side of Bakugo’s thighs, and he leaned in.

“Are you lowering your guard around me?” He whispered into Bakugo’s ear.

“You wish, fucker.” The blond rolled his eyes but didn’t make any move to get away from him. In fact, when Shinso leaned in closer, brushing his lips softly over the skin of Bakugo’s cheek, he even leaned closer.

“I think you are.”

All further protests were cut off by Shinso’s lips that found Bakugo’s. Arms were wrapped around shoulders and waists, pulling the two bodies flush against each other in the empty classroom. Bakugo’s legs hooked around Shinso, keeping him right where he was.

If he wanted to play this game… Fine. It takes two to tango, as they say.

When after a while the purple-haired boy wanted to pull away, Bakugo didn’t let him. His hand moved up the other’s neck, gripping the wildly sticking out hair. Shinso groaned but got the hint and didn’t move away. You didn’t need to beg him to keep enjoying the only guilty pleasure that he allowed himself to have.

They shouldn’t be doing this here, but who was there to stop them?

“Ehm, ehm.”

Both boys jumped away from each other. Bakugo looked annoyed to be interrupted and even had the audacity to roll his eyes. Meanwhile, Shinso, who could see the newcomer standing in the doorway, paled a little bit. With furrowed eyebrows, Bakugo turned around to find their English teacher standing at the entrance.

“Shit.” He jumped down from the desk, creating some space between him and the other boy. This wasn’t very “top student” of him.

“I can…”

“No.” Present Mic lifted his hand to interrupt Shinso’s explanation. “I don’t want to hear anything. I didn’t see anything. Get out of here before I change my mind.”

If Bakugo saw right, Shinso smiled a little bit as he passed their teacher. He was looking a little bit too smug for someone who was caught making out with a classmate. When it was Bakugo’s turn to walk past the older blonde, he kept his eyes glued to the floor. His face was burning with embarrassment.

He could hear Mic mumble: “This youth... I didn’t sign up for this.” before he was out of the classroom. Shinso grabbed his hand again and started to drag him down the hallway. Hopefully, towards their next class, and not to another problem.

And just like that, their secret wasn’t just theirs anymore.

2.

The door to Shinso’s dorm room slammed open, hitting the wall behind them with a dull thud.

He wasn’t sleeping. Still, his first reaction was to be pissed at whoever decided to barge inside his room at such an ungodly hour. There were only two people who had the key card to his room. And the one who he would be willing to see, was most likely fast asleep as the clock read close to one am.

“Can you not…”

His words died on his tongue when he saw a silhouette of Bakugo’s wild hair, lightened by the soft red light from the hallway.

“Can I not what?” The door slammed closed as Bakugo walked inside. If he doesn’t learn what the word silent means, their secret won’t be a secret for too long. “Move, idiot.”

The blond threw his phone together with two key cards on Shinso’s bedside table and waited impatiently for Shinso to move closer to the wall. He left just enough room on the bed for the blond to lie down, pulling the duvet over them both.

“I thought you were someone else.” Shinso mumbled, leaving Bakugo to settle in bed.

“Just how many people have the card to your room? I thought we only had one spare.”

“Oh, don’t be jealous.” Shinso’s arms wrapped around Bakugo as he lay down half on top of him.

Shinso knew that this night was not one of those when he would be able to fall asleep. He also knew how irritated his boyfriend could get if he didn’t get a full night of sleep. Or the cuddles that he secretly craved.

“Why are you awake anyway?” Shinso whispered when Bakugo finally settled comfortably in his bed. Shinso’s fingers were running through the blond hair, scratching his scalp in a soothing motion. He watched in the darkness as the red eyes closed slowly.

“Shitty hair has the squad in his room. They are fucking noisy.” Bakugo’s voice was nothing more than a whisper. His words slurred together. He must have been really tired, considering it was a Friday night. They had a long and exhausting week behind them.

“Goodnight.” Shinso whispered back and kissed the top of Bakugo’s head. He felt more than heard the soft hum that Bakugo produced as a response. Within a few minutes, he was out like a light.

Saturday mornings were supposed to be calm and peaceful. That is what Bakugo hoped for when he opened his eyes. The morning sun was shining in through the cracks in the blinds landing right on his face. He was still wrapped in the arms of his boyfriend, lying almost the same way, he fell asleep.

Shinso had his eyes closed, but his hand was scratching up and down Bakugo’s back, following the line of his spine, so Bakugo knew he wasn’t asleep. With a smirk tugging at his lips, the blond quickly moved his head, pressing a kiss to Shinso’s neck, startling the other boy.

“Sleeping beauty awoke.” The indigo eyes cracked open as well, and he turned his head down. His lips were mirroring Bakugo’s smirk. He pushed the other boy back to the bed, kissing him before the blond could start to complain about his morning breath.

In the time they’ve been secretly dating, Shinso found a way or two to deal with the blond. Kisses were always the most effective. Bakugo was always quick to become putty in his arms when his brain could focus only on the feeling of lips pressed against his.

The knock on the door disturbed what could have been a peaceful morning. Both boys froze in the bed as the door started to open, quietly but quickly.

In a split second of panic, Bakugo pulled the duvet over himself.

“Hitoshi, I brought you…what’s going on in here?” The voice was unmistakable. The blond peeked up from under the duvet, knowing there was no point in hiding.

Aizawa, standing in the doorway with a thick envelope in his hand sighed and rolled his red eyes when he saw the blond. He walked inside the room, shutting the door behind himself quickly. His black eyes focused on Bakugo only for a second before he turned to the purple-haired boy.

“Hitoshi.”

“It’s not what it looks like, dad.” Shinso sat up in the bed slowly, almost as if he was annoyed more than embarrassed.

“Dad?” Bakugo would later deny that his voice broke as he shrieked in disbelief. He turned to stare at his boyfriend.

The boyfriend who just pushed him down under the duvet again, trying to silence him.

“Well, because it looks like there is someone in your bed who shouldn’t be here.” Aizawa crossed his arms before his chest. Leaning his head to the side, his eyes turned back to the place where Bakugo was trapped under Shinso’s duvet.

“You are the one who is always telling me that things are not always like they seem.”

“Don’t you dare use my words against me.” The black-haired man shook his head as he walked closer to the bed. “Your sister sends you this.”

Something heavy hit Bakugo’s leg through the covers. He could hear Aizawa make a few steps, and then the door opened and closed again, this time a little bit louder. Shinso’s body fell back on the bed as silence settled in the room.

Bakugo slowly lifted the cover to look at him. Their eyes met before Bakugo asked:

“Dad?” He raised one pale eyebrow.

“I didn’t mention it?”

“No, you fucking didn’t!” Bakugo hit his boyfriend a few times just to get his point across. Then he lifted himself, supporting his upper body with his arm as he looked down at the other boy. “You are Aizawa’s son? Why do you have a different surname?”

“Because he’s not my real dad. He and Mic adopted me, together with Eri at the end of our first year. You know… After the war. Where I lost my parents. I started to call them dads before Eri so she would be a little less confused and after a while, it just stuck in my head.”

“Wait. Aizawa and who now?” Bakugo really felt like he had woken up in a different reality than the one where he had fallen asleep last night.

“You didn’t know they were married?” Shinso smirked.

Bakugo only stared at his boyfriend silently for a while before he flopped back on the bed, turning his eyes to the ceiling. He felt Shinso curling against his side, but he didn’t look at him. There were too many thoughts in his brain that he needed to process.

“Just to be clear…” He started as he slowly turned to his side. “Aizawa… and Present Mic… are your parents now… and the little girl that Deku saved last year is your… sister?”

With every word, he watched as Shinso’s lips stretched into a bigger and bigger smug smirk.

“Great future family, right?”

“Fuck…” Bakugo groaned as he turned to lay on his back again. He covered his face with his hands to muffle the frustrated scream he let out. A deep blush crept up his neck and cheeks. He didn’t know how he would be able to look his teachers in the eyes after this.

And his whole breakdown was accompanied by Shinso’s soft laughter.

“I am never gonna be a fucking hero. The two of them are gonna murder me.”

“Oh, please…” Shinso pulled the hands away from Bakugo’s face to press a soft kiss to his nose. “I won’t let them.”

3.

“You forgot we have the…” Bakugo stopped in his tracks when he saw his boyfriend sitting on the carpet of his room, with a young silver-haired girl in his lap. On the ground before them was opened a laptop. They were watching some cartoons.

“What?” Shinso looked up to the blond. The girl completely ignored Bakugo in favor of watching the animated people on the screen. Her eyes didn’t move away for even a second.

“Training?” Bakugo suggested, walking in and closing the door behind himself.

“Oh yeah. Sorry. It slipped my mind. This was kinda… last minute arrangement.” Shinso pointed with his head to the girl. “Dads got called in for something.”

The blond leaned against the door. He watched the girl from afar. There was not much that he knew about her. Shinso almost never brought up his family life. But Deku and Eijiro certainly couldn’t shut up about her after the mission in their first year where they rescued her.

He also remembers her from last Christmas when Aizawa brought her to UA to celebrate holidays with people. Now he understood why she was clinging to Shinso so much back then.

He hadn’t seen her much since that evening. He wasn’t even sure how old she was. She looked young.

“You can join us, you know?” Shinso said after Bakugo stood there awkwardly leaning against the door for a good five minutes, lost in his thoughts.

The girl let out a quiet sound in protest. She turned to hide her face against Shinso’s chest, curling closer towards her older brother. Not much changed from that Christmas Eve then…

“Come on, Eri. It’s just Kats, I told you about him.”

“Katsuki?” The girl perked up at that, turning around. Her red eyes, almost the same shade as Bakugo’s, looked him up and down. He didn’t know why he felt self-conscious under her stare. He never felt like that. Ever.

“You can make fireworks, right?” She whispered timidly.

“Well… Yeah.” Bakugo looked at Shinso, who smiled at him.

“Can I see?” She jumped out of Shinso’s lap and ran towards the blond. All shyness was forgotten.

“Ehhh… not here? I shouldn’t do it inside.”

“Balcony’s that way.” Shinso pointed to the glass door opposite Bakugo. The blond rolled his eyes, holding back one very rude hand gesture, but started to walk there anyway. Light, quick footsteps followed him.

On the balcony, he crouched down as the girl walked closer to him. Shinso was suddenly there as well. With his hands on her shoulders, he was keeping her a safe distance away from Bakugo’s hands.

Bakugo set off the smallest explosions he could, letting his hands spark a little bit. He watched as Eri’s eyes widened, her lips stretching into a smile.

“So cool.” She breathed, reaching her hand towards the sparkles. Shinso was quicker, making sure she wouldn’t get hurt.

“Don’t.” He grabbed her hand and pulled her a few steps away. “Don’t touch. Just look.”

She pouted for a second, but her smile returned as soon as her eyes focused on the small explosions again.

“Will you play with us?” She asked when they returned to the dorm room. Her wide, hopeful eyes turned to Bakugo.

“If you want me to….” He replied, immediately looking at Shinso, not knowing if that was the right answer. He was never good with kids, but the insomniac was already smiling at him.

“Why don’t you go downstairs and pick some desk game?” Shinso offered to his sister. “Maybe Midoriya and Uraraka will also join us.”

The girl’s smile widened even more. She nodded happily, her grey curls jumping up and down as she rushed out of the door.

Bakugo watched her leave, feeling his boyfriend’s gaze on him. When he turned his head, Shinso reached out to grab Bakugo’s hand with a soft smile. He brought his hand to his lips and kissed his still-heated palm, making the blond smile as well.

“We should go before she hunts down half of the class.” Shinso whispered but didn’t resist the urge to pull Bakugo closer for a quick kiss.

When Present Mic walked into the common room of class 3-A he wasn't ready for what would welcome him inside. The usually loud and chaotic room was dead silent. For a second dread filled his stomach, and bad thoughts crept into his brain.

Then he saw it.

Bakugo Katsuki, without a doubt the loudest of the class, was peacefully sleeping, sitting on the ground with his back leaning against the couch. In his arms was curled the grey-haired girl. Her hair was braided in long braids that she didn’t have when he dropped her off in the dorms earlier.

Shinso was lying on the couch behind them, his eyes closed as well.

The rest of the room was empty.

With a smile, Mic walked over to the little group and reached down for Eri. The second he tried to pick her up, Bakugo’s grip around her tightened and his eyes snapped open, alerted. It took him only a second to realize what was going on. When he recognized his teacher, he let go of the girl.

Mic picked up Eri into his arms. He turned to look out of the window. A silhouette of his husband was waiting for them in the darkness. Then his gaze moved back to sleeping Shinso.

“I take care of this one. Guess that leaves that one to you.” He pointed with his head towards the sleeping boy on the couch.

Bakugo quickly nodded as he stood up, not really knowing what to do around his teachers now that he had new pieces of information in his brain about them. Every time they were around, his mind unhelpfully supplied that this was Shinso’s family now.

Mic said nothing else as he turned around and walked out of the door. Bakugo felt that this didn’t go as bad as it could have. The outcome could still be better, but he would take this awkward silence over anything else.

“I think they are getting used to the idea of you belonging with me.” Shinso mumbled from the couch, cracking one eye open. Of course, he wasn’t sleeping at all…

“Even if they weren’t…” Bakugo looked around the common room, making sure they were still alone before he stood up and leaned over Shinso, “…bold of them to assume I would let you go now.”

“My big strong hero.” Shinso uttered sarcastically as he reached his arms up. The blond rolled his eyes and put his arms under Shinso’s chest and legs, picking the other boy up from the couch.

“Does that make you my damsel in distress?”

“I take it back.” Shinso wiggled his way out of Bakugo’s arms and jumped on his feet. He walked towards the elevator on his own, listening to the blond’s soft laughter that was only ever reserved for his ears to hear.

4.

“So you and Bakugo?”

At the sound of his boyfriend’s name, Shinso lost focus for a split second. He allowed his feet to be swept from underneath him. With a loud thud, he landed on the training mat, groaning in pain.

He looked up from the mat where he was violently thrown onto by his mentor, teacher, and parent. To Shinso’s credit, it was harder and harder for Aizawa to actually catch him these days. Using his boyfriend was nothing but a foolish trick of a loser who knew he was going to lose.

“Not talking about that with you.” The purple-haired boy groaned from the floor. He rolled to his side, trying to get up from the ground. Aizawa’s boot pressed hard into his waist, stopping him from moving.

“Oh, you better start talking. What do you think you are doing with him?” The older man asked, getting his capture weapon ready. “You are part of the mission that…”

“I don’t care about that!” Shinso yelled and rolled to the other side, getting away from Aizawa’s reach. Before the teacher could realize what he had done, Shinso was already on his feet. Wrapping his own scarf around his hands, getting ready for an attack.

“You should care about that if you care about him.” Aizawa’s scarf flew just past Shinso’s legs, making him jump to avoid it. Shinso used the uncovered roof beams of the gym to hook his scarf around them and stay in the air.

“Yeah? And why’s that?” Shinso asked looking down, silently calculating the route for his next attack.

“Because he…” The black-haired teacher didn’t finish his sentence. He couldn’t. His tongue wasn’t cooperating with his brain anymore.

Shinso jumped back down on the mat with a smirk that was a copy of Bakugo’s. It really is true what they say. You do pick up the habits and expressions of the people you love.

“Got ya.” He patted Aizawa’s shoulder as he walked past him.

Catching Aizawa with his quirk meant he won the round of their training. In the field, if he catches villains in the trap of his quirk, he already won. The only person who ever broke out of his quirk was Midoriya, back in the first year. How likely was it that some random underground villain could beat that?

Aizawa shook his head to clear his thoughts when Shinso released his quirk.

“Are we done?” Shinso asked, almost bored.

“Did you sleep with him?” Shinso’s skin darkened in a matter of seconds, and it wasn’t thanks to the exhaustion. Aizawa didn’t even tease him. He was being completely, one hundred percent, serious about his question.

“Look just because you are my dad now doesn’t mean I am gonna be talking to you about this shit. I can do what I want, with who I want. I am technically an adult.” He started to wrap the scarf around his arm so he could throw it into his locker on his way out. His eyes were focused on the white cloth in his hands, ignoring the burning glare of his father.

“I am just trying to figure out how serious you are about him. You could still…”

“Very serious.” Shinso looked up with a glare as well. Aizawa seemed to realize he was having a very pointless conversation with the other one. He continued watching Shinso, but there was no real heat behind his stare anymore.

“Look, I…” Shinso started as he tied the last part of the scarf. “I know the mission is not something to fuck with. But neither are we. Katsuki can take care of himself, and so can I. We have each other’s backs. Even when he doesn’t know about my mission, he is aware that the danger goes everywhere he goes since the goddamn war so he’s cautious. We will be fine.”

Aizawa walked over to the bench, still listening, as he grabbed two prepared water bottles. He threw one in Shinso’s direction. The younger boy caught it without stopping his speech.

“I will keep the work and this relationship as separate as possible. Why do you think we are keeping it a secret? Because we both have fucking brains. Katsuki knew the risks when he went into this.” Shinso unscrewed the bottle and started to drink. The fresh, cold water calmed his burning throat. He sat down on the mat, crossing his legs and trying to catch his breath.

“Katsuki, hmm?” Aizawa who was already sitting on the bench sighed. “Listen, kid. I am just trying to warn you. This secret will backfire on you. Sooner or later, it will cross the way with your mission. That’s just how things work. So don’t get yourself or him killed because of it.”

He stood up and grabbed his bag from the ground. He started to stuff his scarf into it.

“This country needs heroes like you two.” Aizawa added as he looked at Shinso with a sad smile.

“It has us. I won’t let anything happen.” Shinso swore, knowing he would keep this promise no matter what. Aizawa nodded at that, opening his mouth to say something more, but a quiet buzzing from the bench interrupted him.

It was Shinso’s phone. The screen was lit up with an incoming call. The contact had no picture and instead of a name, there was a simple explosion emoji with an orange heart next to it.

“Katsuki’s calling.” Aizawa smiled that sad smile again and grabbed the phone so he could throw it into Shinso’s lap. “I am still not happy about it, but you have your own brain, Hitoshi. I trust you that you’ll use it and do the right thing.”

“Thank you.” Shinso watched as Aizawa started to walk out of the gym. Only when the teacher reached the door, did Shinso collapse on the mat. Letting his back hit the ground, he accepted the call.

“Hey…”

5.

“Fuck, wait! Stop!” Bakugo shouted from the grass. He was being pressed into the ground of Aizawa’s backyard. Shinso’s bare foot was digging between his shoulder blades, making him unable to move.

His boyfriend was playing dirty to win this sparing match. Bakugo couldn’t prove it yet, but he was sure of it.

“What are the magic words?” Shinso leaned more of his weight on Bakugo’s back.

“I hate you.” Bakugo muttered through gritted teeth. Shinso was holding one of his arms, twisted in a very unnatural way. And it was starting to hurt.

“Hmm, nope. Next guess?” The grip on Bakugo´s arm tightened.

“Fuck, okay! You won! Happy now?”

Shinso dropped Bakugo’s hand to the ground. The blond’s body collapsed on the grass.

“If you dislocated my shoulder again, I will literally kill you this time.” The blond spat, turning to lay on his back. He tried to roll his shoulder a few times. Luckily there was no sharp pain, and the uncomfortable pressure that he felt was slowly disappearing.

His boyfriend moved to stand up directly above him, his feet on both sides of Bakugo’s waist. His shit-eating grin was even more annoying than usual as he smirked down on the blond.

“Feeling better now?” He offered his hand to the boy on the ground.

“About my mother? Yes.” The blond grabbed Shinso’s hand and let himself be pulled to his feet. “About losing? Absolutely the fuck not.”

The laugh Shinso let out shortly before he kissed him, was the sound that he wanted to hear for the rest of his life. And okay, maybe he didn’t care about losing that much. Not when it was to the handsome bastard before him who kept beating him somehow. He grew up of that, okay?

Bakugo leaned in, wrapping his arms around the shoulders of the slightly taller boy. If he could, he would stay there in that exact moment forever. Arms wrapped around his secret boyfriend, face buried in his shoulder, body aching from the good sparring, heart beating wildly because of… many things.

“Well, a hot shower will fix that. And then we can go watch a movie or something.” Shinso pulled away only slightly, his hands rubbing Bakugo’s arms.

“You sure the rest of the household won’t come back home?” Bakugo looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

It sounded like a fairytale, to be in the house of his lover while no one else was home. He didn’t even have any dirty thoughts on his mind. He didn’t try to take advantage of it. He just wanted to wake up in peace for once, wrapped in the arms of someone who cared about him like no one ever did.

“Unless they can teleport, they shouldn´t make it home till tomorrow lunch. Now come on…” Shinso left a quick kiss on Bakugo’s nose before he grabbed his hand and started to lead them inside the house.

Shinso was in his room, changing into clean clothes, even if he had not showered yet. Despite letting Bakugo go first into the shower, he didn’t feel like leaving grass stains everywhere. He would also have to borrow Bakugo some of his clothes. The undoubtedly only white tank top that the blond owned was more green than white at this point.

There was a soft click from down the hall. Probably Bakugo unlocking the bathroom door. The water stopped running a while ago after all. The blond either had a problem with the old lock on the bathroom door, or it was maybe just Shinso’s imagination that it sounded like the click echoed in the hall again.

He turned back to the task of dressing up. Then a scream that cut through the silence of the house made all blood in his veins freeze.

It was Bakugo’s scream. Startled shout. Not in panic or fear. Just surprise. But it was such a rare sound that it made Shinso run out of his bedroom with only his sweatpants on.

“Katsuki wha-…!?” He didn’t finish when he noticed the scene before him.

In the doorway of the bathroom was standing his boyfriend. Naked. Except for the towel that Shinso gave him, wrapped around his waist. His hair was still dripping wet from the shower, flattened against his skull. There were red spots all over his chest and arms from the punches he took in their sparring.

And on the top of the stairs, opposite the bathroom door, stood their former black-haired teacher.

“Fuck.” Shinso mumbled as he tried to contain his laughter. He was very much aware of how the situation had to look to his father.

An eighteen-year-old boy who was left home alone for a few days. Wearing only his sweatpants, with messy hair, looking visibly sweaty... And then there was his boyfriend walking out of their shower. Well…

“Hitoshi.” Aizawa moved his eyes away from the very pale blond.

If there was one thing to know about Katsuki Bakugo, it was that he was scared of very few things. Mitsuki Bakugo and Shota Aizawa were on top of the list, sharing the first, if not only spot. The blond would rather die than admit it aloud, but Shinso knew.

He could read him like an open book.

“Look it’s not how it seems.” Shinso said, still trying to hold back his laughter. He was slowly failing at that.

He moved to stand between Aizawa and Bakugo. Reaching his hand behind his back, he pushed the blond out of the bathroom doorway, shoving him in the direction of his room. And luckily, the blond understood. Eyes never moving away from their teacher, he sneaked down the hall and slammed the door behind himself when he escaped into safety.

“What did I tell you?” Aizawa sighed. He looked even more tired than usual.

“That you trust me with this?”

The older man opened his mouth to speak. To protest. Yet Shinso didn’t give him a chance.

“Look, I am gonna tell you the truth. Whether you believe it or not is your thing.” He lifted his arms in surrender gest.

The black-haired man crossed his arms over his chance, waiting for an explanation. The explanation that he already knew he wouldn’t believe.

“He got in a fight with his mother. Needed to calm down, so he came here. We sparred so he could let out some steam. The grass in the backyard is probably still flattened if you wanna check. And I offered he could stay the night since his mom also needs to calm down before they can talk again like normal human beings. And this house was supposed to be quiet and calm tonight.”

Aizawa was giving him the same look he gives first-year students who come late for their classes and make up stupid excuses. Shinso knew he didn’t believe a word he was saying. But it was not like Shinso cared what he thought.

“He’s staying for the night and we are cooking. Dinner will be in an hour if you wanna join us.” With that Shinso turned on his heels and walked towards his room.

And the sight in the room was priceless.

Bakugo Katsuki, pale as the white wall behind him, was leaning his hands on his knees just to stay upright. He was breathing as if he had just run a marathon. If Shinso didn’t know any better, he would say the blond was having a panic attack. Sadly, he knew what Bakugo’s panic attacks looked like.

“I am jumping out this fucking window and no one will ever fucking see me again.” He mumbled when he heard the door click.

“At least put the pants on before you do that.” Shinso finally burst out laughing, grabbing the first sweatpants from his closet that he could reach. He threw them onto his boyfriend, who caught them with a glare.

And at that moment, Bakugo took back everything he thought before. He doesn’t want to hear Shinso laugh like this ever again.

When Aizawa got the call, his knees wanted to give up underneath him. Gravity was dragging him towards the ground with the weight of the words he had just heard. His husband had to catch him and lean him against the closest wall so he wouldn’t collapse.

“Sir, are you still there?” The voice echoed from the phone.

“Which hospital?” He asked.

Hizashi’s eyes next to him widened. No parent wants to hear the words “your son” “attack” and “critical condition” in one sentence. But they did. And they rushed into the hospital as the nurse told them.

It was a car ride full of panic, anxiety, and fear. They had spent the majority of it in silence, too worried to speak. If you say something aloud, it might as well be true. And they didn’t want any of their fears to be true.

When they barged into the hospital room, they both stopped in their tracks.

Not because of the sight of their son, lying in a hospital bed unconscious. It was not the bandages and tubes and monitors that were beeping that were out of place for them.

It was the sight of Pro hero Dynamight, in his hero suit, bloody and bruised, sitting in a chair next to the bed that stopped them. It was the blood that was covering Bakugo’s suit that stopped them. Because the blood clearly wasn’t his. And they had a feeling they knew whose blood it was.

The blond looked up at the newcomers, but once he saw who it was, he turned his gaze away. He looked ashamed as he whispered:

“I am sorry I wasn’t fast enough.” His bruised hand was gripping Shinso’s own tightly. He was trembling, trying to hold back his sobs and tears.

The older husbands exchanged a glance that said everything they needed to know. The black-haired man then walked over to his former student and let his hand fall on his shoulder.

“I am sure you did enough.” He replied as he squeezed his shoulder. He was Bakugo’s teacher for a long enough time to know what was going through his head. Blame. Even though it was probably misplaced. He knew Bakugo always did everything he could on the field.

“If only I…”

“Those if-only scenarios won’t change the past.” Hizashi interrupted as he walked closer to the other side of Shinso’s hospital bed. “We know you did your best.”

Bakugo looked up from Shinso’s hand. He moved his gaze to the other blond opposite him. When he didn’t find any anger in his eyes, he moved his gaze to his former class-teacher behind him. His eyes were tired and worried. But not disappointed or angry.

For the first time since he was caught kissing Shinso in some random classroom in UA, he felt accepted. Welcomed even.

The tears he was trying to hold back since he saw his boyfriend get hit on the battlefield finally fell.

“Go change and clean up. He will need you when he wakes up.” Aizawa said and squeezed his shoulder again. His eyes were already scanning the monitors that were hooked to Shinso’s body.

But Bakugo knew he wasn’t ignored. Not anymore.

Shinso woke up a few days later. Bakugo was lying on his bed as well, absentmindedly rubbing the exposed skin of Shinso’s forearm. His lips quirked up when he saw the sleepy blond, in sweatpants and crumpled shirt, next to him.

He looked exhausted.

Shinso tried to speak, to say something, but soon realized he had a tube down his neck that prevented him from doing so. Instead, he moved the hand that Bakugo was stroking, and the blond perked up immediately. A smile broke out on his face when he saw Shinso's eyes were opened and looking right at him.

“You asshole. You don’t have to go to a fucking coma to sleep, you know that?” Bakugo whispered as he reached for the button to call the nurse. He had enough medical lessons behind him to know how to remove the tube from Shinso’s throat, so he carefully did so.

“Coma once a year sounds better than not sleeping at all, don’t you think?” Shinso replied quietly. His voice was hoarse, sounding weird to his own ears.

“Fucker…” Bakugo laughed fondly as he grabbed Shinso’s head and leaned down to press his lips against Shinso’s cheek. He started to leave kisses on his face, making the injured boy smile as well before he got enough of it, and grabbed Bakugo’s neck to guide their lips together.

It was a long, deep kiss. The type that screamed ‘Thank God you are alive.’ ‘I am still alive!’

“Don’t ever scare me like this.” Bakugo whispered against his lips.

Shinso nodded, leaning his head against Bakugo’s forehead. All he wanted was to be held for a moment. Having a near-death experience makes you a little bit of a sap once you come back to the world of living.

They stayed tangled together in the bed till the nurse walked inside the room, to check on Shinso. She left soon after, saying the doctor would be with them shortly. Yet the next time the door opened, it wasn’t the doctor that walked inside.

In the doorway were two husbands, walking hand in hand, smiling at their future family.

“So, when is the wedding?”

Notes:

For those who haven't read Secret Husband:
the mission Aizawa was talking about is a top-secret mission of underground heroes that Hitoshi became a leader of before he even graduated from UA and it did, in fact, backfired on him that he was trying to balance it with a relationship. That's the whole plot of Secret Husband if you are interested...
