Summary
Robert Chase has finally moved on. Five years after his divorce from Allison Cameron, he finally feels well and truly settled into his life, lonely as it may be. Chase’s fragile contentment is shattered, however, when he runs into Cameron at a medical conference far from home and is reminded of all that he lost when Cameron left his life. What follows is a short but passionate whirlwind of a love affair where Chase and Cameron both get to entertain the fantasy of what could have been. As Chase feels himself growing more and more attached to Cameron, he begins to wonder if he can really go back to his ordinary life after this, and as Cameron witnesses herself straying ever further from the rules she sets for herself, she has to figure out if she’d rather stay safe or take the thrilling plunge into a world of what-ifs.
