    At the end of the battle in Onyx Storm, Sloane and Dain are heading back to Tyrrendor when intercepted by venin. In a moment of panic Sloane accidentally unlocks her second signet, and transports herself, Dain, Thoirt, and Cath to an island hundreds of miles away from the danger, nearly burning out in the process. Now they must make their way home, without knowing where they are or how far they have to go, and they must make peace with each other.
