Summary:

based on some random theory of tumblr that amane was a wedlock child and momosemom joined the cult for financial support. i saw that theory and went "lmao this would make a neat fic."

After running away from home to get away from her religious extremist family and settling down at law school, Megumi has never felt so empty or alone. Slowly, she begins to fall for her really-odd-and secretive classmate Yuichi and thinks he might be able to fill what's missing in her life

But it's not easy being in love with the member of a doomsday cult- as rules have to be broken and values have to be challenged, and Megumi has to decide whether its worth it to fight for the love of someone whose values don't even align with hers.

But soon, she has to make a choice.

Notes:

For context, Megumi is the fanmade name (i made it up for this fic) for Amane's mother. Yuichi is the canon name for Amane's father. Any other character featured in this fic, bar Amane in the epilogue/prologue is an OC.

after i heard this theory and started drafting this fic, i same up with SOO many hcs for megumi's childhood/teenagehood to the point where "megumi" feels like an oc and "amane's mother" is the canon character.

also this fic my sisters test to go from beta reader to alpha reader. I agreed to make her sigma reader but she lost her privileges so shes beta reader again.

Chapter 1: Prologue - Fear and Familiarity

Momose Amane was once again hiding in fear. She knew she was a coward for doing so, and not accepting her punishment only made her a worse person than she already was. But she was so scared.

When a person senses a danger they're powerless to fight again, their instincts are to run away. They're wired to avoid that pain at all costs- no matter how much they deserve it.

Just stay silent, stay still, and don't cry. Stay in place to make up for your misbehaviour. And for DECO*27's sake, don't be seen.

The scene was somewhat familiar.
