The physician waves him off with a well-meaning chuckle. “It happens, lad. Can’t blame you for being nervous. Now, your friend here told me you were dealing with a stomach bug?”
Nodding, Viktor describes the symptoms, while the older man gives him a check-up. He does prod and poke Viktor a little, takes his blood pressure and checks his throat, but it’s oddly comforting in the casual way he does it. Jayce stays close without interfering, just a steady, calm presence that puts Viktor further at ease.
When he’s asked to lay down, Viktor does so without hesitation, unbuttoning his shirt so the doctor can palpate his stomach. It’s a little uncomfortable, but very bearable, until the pressure wanders further down, around his navel and a little lower yet. Viktor winces at an odd sensation, not painful, but strange.
