There’s an old superstition that each person falls in love three times in their life. The first is young love, the second is hard love, and the third, is the love that lasts.
Kitty had been in love three times in her life. Dae had been her young love, Yuri had been her hard love, and then there was Min Ho. The way she felt about him had come blindly. It crept up on her one day at a time, without her even noticing it at first. She hadn't gone looking for it. It came for her, like a creature in the night. She'd put up walls and defences and built barriers to protect her heart. Then, one day, she realized she loved him to her very soul, despite all of the reasons she shouldn't, and despite all of the effort she had made to not. But she wasn't allowed to love him. He was Dae's best friend. He'd somehow become her best friend. He was the one person she was not allowed to love. So she kept it bottled up close to her heart, and never told a soul.
Then, without warning, he was gone. He had gone from being the most important person in her life, to barely answering her text messages, and before she knew it, she hadn't so much as spoken to him in five years, and the worst part of it all, was that she had no clue why.
