Declan Labelle wished beyond all else that he hadn’t quit his day job. He never would have fostered an audience, he never would have become so isolated, and he never would have caught Hasan’s attention.
Hasan Badeaux knew they enjoyed pain from a young age. Inflicting, receiving… it was all the same to them, but one was always more accessible than the other. Dabbling had never been enough.
Now, under their knife, Declan copes, yells, spits, and complies-whenever he can stomach it. But as days stretch into weeks and months, he needs to start looking toward the long term. Declan is going to survive this, no matter what it takes, but it'd be a hell of a lot easier if Hasan stopped pretending to care.
