Summary
He has lost another part of himself in service to this war. It has gone into the ink, sunk deep into the pages scattered far and wide across Nassau’s streets, spread among ears willing to listen. With his bones he has constructed a good man. The best man of them all. Long John Silver and his stories. The crown atop his head shining like a new day sun lifted up by the horizon, the words etched into the precious metal like an epitaph for the whole of the world to see. It reads: Here lies Billy Bones. The good man in him died to give birth to a great one.
He was willing to follow Silver. He would have gone to his death content if it had meant he could be the one to place the crown atop his head. A worthy sacrifice. A necessary evil. This is who he is: Billy Bones, maker of kings. Creator of men.
