Work Text:

Shuffling through the small apartment Kaveh felt the familiar need for caffeine in the morning. A well-known low chuckle greeted him, followed by muscular arms around his waist and stubble against his skin.

“Did I ever tell you what a cute coffee zombie you are in the morning?”

Turning his head a little to meet the gaze of a way too awake and way too cheery, Wriothesley ready to tackle the day Kaveh grumbled.

“Coffee zombie? Did you read one of those bad Inazuma novels?”

Wriothesley shrugged and placed a kiss on his cheek before letting go.

“Not in the last years but it is a fitting description.”

A smug smile on his face, he walked to the small kitchenette and began making his tea. Kaveh shuddered at that thought. Sleep still in his eyes he moved next to him and tried to find the ground coffee and the small coffee maker he got for the times they were down here but couldn’t find it.

“Where is my coffee?”

“I hid it.”

Too much amusement in Wriothesley’s voice.

“I am not up for that kind of games in the morning.”

Kaveh looked up and found a challenging look in those ice blue eyes. Somewhere deep in the back of his mind a remark resurfaced that Wriothesley threatened to hide the coffee of Kaveh wouldn’t stop drinking it past 8pm.

“You didn’t…” Kaveh hissed.

“I warned you, love. Have fun finding it. It is somewhere in the apartment.”

Smug smile still in place, Wriothesley sat down and enjoyed his tea. Kaveh ran a hand over his face.

"I love you more than coffee, but please don't make me prove it. You know how mean my mood becomes when you put me on withdrawal."

Wriothesley barked a laugh and shook his head.

“Try me. I run a prison. You can’t come up with something I haven’t heard before.”

With a death glare shot at him, Kaveh began rummaging through the cupboards.

“You are an evil, sadistic…”

“Try harder, love.”

“…. Wannabe healer. Mr. -Know-it-all, oh so righteous high up your horse…”

Still Wriothesley appeared not the slightest impressed, even more he looked amused while Kaveh went for the small fridge.

“Wannabe healer? Shall I get Sigewinne involved?”

“You want to kill me?” Kaveh yapped, “That is you plan, right? To weaken me to keep me here forever so I can’t go back to Sumeru.”

A thoughtful hum from the kitchen table was enough to know.

“Doesn’t sound so bad. It’s quite tempting. Maybe I should do this more often, eh?”

“Don’t you dare! I will strangle you if you do.”

“Threaten me with good times?” Wriothesley teased and took another sip as if they were talking about the weather.

Kaveh huffed and put his hands on his hips, trying to think where else the coffee could go in the small time, he still was asleep. Turning around on his heels, his eyes feel on the bookshelves that looked strangely off.

“Son of a bitch…,” he cursed as he walked over and already saw the metal of the small brewing pot shining in the light.

“Heard that before as well. You really need to work on your cursing.”

Kaveh grabbed the coffee and the brewing pot like his dear life depended on it, threw another death glare to Wriothesley and began making his first cup of coffee.

“I have to rethink staying overnight.”

“You won’t do that.”

A small triumphant smile crossed Kaveh’s face as he saw Wriothesley’s small shock.

“I do if you continue this. I told you to not make me proof I love you more than coffee.”

Defeated Wriothesley threw his hands up, eyes laughing, a treacherous twitch around the corner of his lips.

“Alright, alright, I get it. Nothing comes between you and your coffee.”

“I knew you are a smart man.”

With the smell of fresh brewing coffee filling the air, Kaveh relaxed a little and stepped next to the small table to lean over for kiss.

“Love you, anyway.”

Notes:

I saw this prompt list for Feburary on Tumblr and each day has 4 prompts with one for February 1st was "I love you more than coffee, but please don't make me prove it." so my mind was immediately : This is Kaveh.
So next my lil Wrioveh obession hit and here we are.

I am working on some longer WrioVeh fic but I don't wanna start posting until I have multiple chapters ready.
