Chapter Text
A Snapchittering Legacy
Tim Drake knocks on Damian's bedroom door. "What is it, Drake?"
"You've been Robin for a while, and I think you should continue the legacy," he says while walking into the room. Damian sits at his desk. "I already continue the legacy of the Bat and the Al Ghuls," responds Damian. Tim sighs and gets his phone.
"That's not what I mean, Damian. I mean continuing the legacy of TheRobin on Snapchat."
Damian frowns. "Why should I care about a social media platform?"
Tim shakes his head and sits next to the desk. "Because every Robin took care of this account. It's more than filters and streaks. It's an album. Dick started this when he was Robin."
Tim swipes all the way down to when Dick was Robin. Damian watches quietly as he goes through all the years. The recent photos are secret photos taken of Damian. One photo shows him smiling. Another shows him baking cookies with Alfred in his Robin suit.
Then it goes to Steph when she was Robin for a few months. Damian sees a lot of pictures in 0.5x. Even a blurry one of Batman.
Then it goes to Tim. A lot of photos are in the Batcave while he is working on a case. Sometimes he added the time when he made the snap. Most of them are late at night.
The latest is one at 05:47. Followed by a blurry picture. Tim stops and talks about the picture. "Alfred was done with me at that time. I was almost done with the a case, but then he ordered me to go to bed. He said that he would ask Oracle to block the account if I didn't. I remember being so angry at him."
Tim laughs and looks at Damian. "You know, we made a promise. Every Robin must never delete a picture of someone's time as Robin. You can delete pictures of yourself you don't like, but you'll get angry looks. You also may never delete the account. Jason told me he once threatened to delete the account because Snapchat wasn't cool. Then Dick did something, and Jason didn't look him in the eyes for four weeks."
Damian knows that Dick doesn't get angry much, certainly not at his brothers.
"So when Alfred said that he would ask Oracle to block the account, I later realized that he wouldn't because he didn't want to cause a fight with Dick."
Damian nods and leans in to know more.
"I can't really remember why you can't delete any photo or video. You should ask Jason or Dick when you see them, but it's a rule that gets passed along. Just like Bruce's no-killing rule. So you should stick to it."
Tim is dragging the side down, and photos and videos keep flashing. Sometimes he stops and sees pictures of other members. Damian sees Gordon, a picture at the Watchtower, a picture of Red Hood in the Batmobile saying that he stole it for the third time that week.
There is a shaky video of Catwoman walking on a roof with a few cats following her in a straight line.
Then it goes into Jason's time as Robin. Damian notices that there are more photos of Bruce as Batman where he is smiling. A lot more smiles than by any other person. That doesn't mean there aren't any pictures where Bruce got caught smiling with the other Robins, but there are just more pictures of him smiling.
With Tim, Damian saw him a lot standing behind him and looking proud. Damian hopes that he can get pictures like that, but with him. Damian sees a lot of Dick as DiscoWing, and his eyes brighten.
"Oh yeah, he gets made fun of a lot for that time," responds Tim while seeing Damian's face.
There is also a picture where you can see a selfie of Jason while Dick falls into a car in the background.
Then Tim is finally where he wants to be. "Here, this is Dick's era. You can see where he took a lot of snaps with Justice League members. Then at Mount Justice, there is a rumor that he had the highest snap score with Wally. Dick brags that he had a snap streak with Batman for 10 days. But those pictures were mostly text with: 'Robin, focus on the mission.' Jason will really brag that he made Alfred an account and had a snap streak with him for over a month."
Damian frowns at hearing about Jason's streak. "So, you are instructing me to take photographs as Robin and never delete them? And take photographs with whoever I want?"
Tim nods but warns him. "Yes, but as Robin, you must watch out where and of whom you take pictures. Our identities must be a secret. Also, watch out with the locations, but Oracle made sure that nobody can track it or see our location. Oh! Don't add people on the app. A lot of people want Robin as their friend. Don't accept it. Last thing... Make stories for people. People like that."
"People? Which people?" asks Damian. Tim looks at him. "People of Gotham and anywhere else. Our Snap stories are being watched by millions of people."
Damian doesn't show it, but he is a bit frightened. He is also confused about why people would like photos of Robin.
"So here is the account username and password. Have fun, Robin. Don't destroy our legacy," says Tim and hands Damian a note.
Username: TheRobin
Password: WingedBoyWonder1234
Tim stands up and says, "Don't ask me how it's never been hacked. I think Bruce would shoot himself and joins his parents in the grave if he saw the password. Also... I can understand why Dick never made any passwords for the Batcomputer or files."
Damian watches him leave and installs the app. All evening he scrolls through the photos and videos, watching flashbacks and thinks two things:
- He has no idea what to take pictures of.
- He will never use the foolish filters the app has.
