Chapter Text
[3rd POV]
Well… today has not been a good day for Samantha Stacy. School just ended and Spring Break has finally arrived. And what’s the first thing she does? Being chased by a monster on the way home from school. And now she’s here in the subway tunnels, trying to find a way out.
“Why…? Why was a freaking chimera out here?!” Sam yelled.
In case you’re wondering what happened. Sam just finished school and it’s now Spring Break. However, on her way home, a chimera appeared and she had to run away. Normally she’d be able to handle it, but Estelle is currently at work*at the moment. And this Chimera was not your ordinary one either. It was bigger and much more ferocious; had purple fur and the heads of both the goat and snake were black. And the worst part, the snake can ooze out acid; the goat can breathe poison gas and the lion can breathe fire. So yeah, Sam does not have a fighting chance.
(*Context: Estelle and the Mark of Arachnid: The Trident of Poseidon)
Anyways, as Sam continues walking down the tunnel, she takes out her phone and calls her mom. Or more specifically, her foster mom, Calypso Valdez.
“[Hello?]” Calypso said on the phone.
“Hey, Calypso, it’s Sam. I’m going to be a bit late on my way home.”
“[Let me guess, the usual?]
“Yeah… the usual.”
“[Okay, just remember the training and keep your phone powered up. Do you want Leo to pick you up?]”
“No, I’m kind of lost in the tunnels, so I’m trying to find a way out. Do you think Festus can find me?”
“[Leo did mention he installed a tracking system on Festus for this kind of situation. Festus should be able to find you.]”
As Calypso replied, Sam noticed another tunnel down the way. It could be a way out but for now she’ll stay put around that area.
“Okay, I’ll wait here and hide until Festus arrives. Wait...”
As she got closer to the tunnel, she noticed a sign near the entrance.
“Wait, I know where I am now! I’m underneath the Trinity Church! I’ll try to find a way up.”
“[Okay. I’ll let Festus know before we send him off. Just stay there until he arrives, the Chimera may still be around.. Be careful, sweetie.]”
“Thanks Calypso… I’ll be home soon.”
Sam ended the call and entered the tunnel. At the end was a steel gate, almost looking like it was built in the 1800’s; almost like a bomb shelter was built here. This confused Sam, why would a church have a bomb shelter this thick underneath?
She began attempting to open the door but it barely budged. It requires an immense amount of strength to make it move. Luckily, Samantha is a demigod.
A Daughter of Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom.
Not only that, Sam seems to have some ancient mystical power known as Aura**. It's an ability that every living form has but the gods are the only beings capable of wielding it to their highest potential. But even they can not fully master it.

Eventually, Sam finally managed to open the doors. Inside the bunker though… was not something Sam expected.
“Woah… Wasn’t expecting a tomb in a bunker.”
As Sam enters, she noticed that on the other side of the room was a stairway up towards the church. But that’s not what piqued her interest. At the center was the tomb; but on top of it was what appeared to be a corpse.
But who’s corpse is it?
“I should probably leave it be. We’re under a church and who knows what would happen if I angered The Big G.”
Sam began walking around the tomb and headed towards the exit.
But once she got halfway, the corpse grabbed her by the arm.
Suddenly images flashes before her eyes.
A shining star above a moonlit desert.
A small baby crib in an animal den.
A hooded man with a stick walking across a desert.
A group of people sitting across a table filled with bread and wine.
And finally, a large cross where a man is crucified.
Sam knows what these visions are.
She witnessed the life. of the messiah, Jesus Christ.
Until his death… and revival.
Eventually, she regained her senses and fell on her bottom, dust and webs spread across the air. She coughed out the dust in her throat as slowly got back up. “What the hell was that?!” Sam said.
Sam gets up and looks around for the corpse, but it appears to be gone.
“Wait… where’s the body?”
She looks around where the body could’ve fallen but it was nowhere in sight.
Suddenly, a loud roar came through the tunnel she walked in from.
“Schist!” She muttered.
Another phrase she got from living with the Valdez. She has no time to investigate what’s going on as she’s still being chased. Though how the monster managed to find her is still a mystery. She was able to escape using the subways and falling in big crowds. Of course, we all know that demigods have a specific scent that attracts monsters; However, thanks to Calypso and her garden, she was able to mask it. So how on earth was it able to find her?
She decided to forget about the corpse and focus on getting out of here. She looks around and spots another entrance. It was a spiral stairway that goes upwards, most likely the way up to the church. Sam climbs up the stairs and as she got to the end of the stairway, a door was there with a lever. She pulled the lever and it opened the door. She exits out and notices that she’s in a basement.
She sighed in relief.
“Thank the gods it was the exit,” Sam thought. “But what the hell was down there?”
Meanwhile, in Washington D.C., An urgent meeting was occurring in the oval office of the White House.
“Mr. President, I advise you, we need to investigate these strange phenomena that are occurring in New York,” A General spoke towards the President of the United States as several other well-suited men agreed.
“Gentlemen, I assure you, I got my best men investigating the situations that are occurring there.”
“But sir! We got an ACTUAL Spider-Man swinging across New York! That kind of power may be beneficial to the military! We must act now before our enemies get the opportunity!”
As they all argued, a secretary walked in and whispered something to the President. He frowned and stood up urgently.
“We will continue this conversation later. I have an important matter to attend to and I require the room to be empty!”
“But Mr. President-”
“NOW!” He ordered. The General and the others nodded and exited the room, leaving only the secretary and him.
“Are you sure?” He said.
“Yes sir, sensors have detected movement in the tomb and by the time we investigated the tomb, the corpse was gone.”
The president sighs, “The day has finally come… Bring in the Secret Service.”
“Understood sir.”
The secretary leaves and attempts to summon the Secret Service. Eventually, all of the President’s men were accounted for.
“Gentlemen, what I’m about to tell you is top secret. Not even Congress nor the Supreme Court are aware of its existence. This is something that is far bigger than America itself, we may have to go behind their backs and betray our country’s trust to ensure the future for humanity. If you wish to back out, you may. I won’t force this upon you.” The President offered them an opportunity to back out of the situation.
None backed away.
“Thank you…” The President said as he began explaining the situation. “About less than 24 hours ago, a bunker underneath the Trinity Church in New York was infiltrated. Inside the bunker contained a very important relic that appeared to be stolen as well. The relic was a corpse of a very powerful man. We must find who stole the corpse and ensure that their purpose for it is of good intentions. If it’s not, then we must retrieve the corpse before they can fully restore it.”
The men looked at each other with confused expressions as one of them asked, “Sir, why was there a bunker holding a corpse?”
“...In the late 1800’s, the president of that time had found clues to the whereabouts of where pieces of these corpses were. He managed to retrieve all the parts but left one out to ensure it never reawakens until the time has come. So he hid the corpse underneath the Church and left the final piece hidden.”
“Sir… who’s corpse is it?” The agent asked.
The President leaned towards his desk and replied.
“...My friends… That tomb was the final resting place… of the Messiah himself… Jesus Christ.”
