Work Text:
In silent nights, without the scent
And sweet sound of you, far-flung stars
Witness my strenuous torment
As I mimic what could be ours.
Time, minds, and bodies all well-spent
Committed to future memoirs.
As my passions you have incensed,
And my senses you have beguiled,
Your beauty I will hold against
My soul; purified and defiled.
The stars do shine without pretense
On ardour primitive and wild.
Your race half-run among these lights,
No gift of forever for thee.
Your rugged, uncouth self burns bright
Compared to my eternity.
My pet, my sleepless starry night,
A truth unchanging fate decrees.
