Work Text:
The key card they needed to get through a door at a chemical factory was attached to a foreman who went into a bar. They debated what to do for a long while because if one of them got near the Foreman and took the key card in plain sight, there would be a chance someone would notice it because the bar was crowded with people.
Nile: "We need that key card within the next fifteen minutes, or else we will blow our window of opportunity, and then we have to wait another night."
Joe: "You are right, but it isn't like we can waltz in there and take it."
Andy: "You do have your moments, Joe."
Joe: "Sorry, what?"
Andy looked at Nicky, who was eating a bag of peanuts.
Andy: "Nicky, do you fancy dancing the tango with me?"
Nile: "Sorry, what? We don't have the time to dance."
Andy: "Yes, we have. So, what do you say?"
Nicky: "Why not? It is the best idea for this situation."
Andy looked at Joe.
Andy: "Jam every cell and CTV in a five-block area."
Joe: "Got it, Boss. Have fun."
Nicky handed Joe the bag of peanuts.
Nicky: "Hold this for me, please. You can have some if you want; just remember to share with Nile."
Joe nodded, and after a kiss, Nicky went inside the bar with Andy.
Nile: "Why are they dancing when we don't have the time for it?"
Joe: "Wait and see. It will make sense in a moment."
Joe turned the jammer on. After checking his mobile to see if the jammer worked as it should, Joe offered Nile some peanuts.
Nile: "Whatever they got planned, they have less than ten minutes to do it."
Nile watched Andy and Nicky make their way through the crowd of people inside the bar until they were meters from the Foreman.
Nicky: "Can I lead this time?"
Andy: "As long as you get me close enough to do my thing."
Nile watched Nicky take around Andy's waist, and it was like Andy's body language changed at that moment. Gone was the serious, always-on-the-alert Andy, and a happier Andy took over. When Nicky swung Andy around, she laughed.
Joe: "You know, when Quynh went missing, Nicky was the one who always could make Andy smile and laugh for a moment by dancing with her. Something that he still can do to this day. It isn't a tango as you know it; it's just what they call their dance, which is a moment of happiness and silliness."
Nile watched Andy and Nicky doing all kinds of moves that weren't in any way related to a tango, but she also saw two otherwise serious people loosen up and laugh. It was a sight that also made Nile smile like Joe was doing.
Nile: "Have they done it before? I mean, tangoed during a mission?"
Joe: "Watch, Nile, and see what they are doing."
Nile watched Nicky spin Andy around so she ended up in the Foreman's arms. Because Nile was getting better at mouth reading, she had an idea of what Andy and the Foreman were talking about.
Andy: "Thanks for catching me."
The Foreman: "Don't mention it. Can I offer you a drink or beer?"
Andy: "I think my fella wouldn't like that, but thanks for the offer. And thanks again for catching me."
Andy walked back to Nicky, and after two more tangos, they left the bar with a bottle of champagne. It didn't take them long to find Joe and Nile, who were waiting for them at the car.
Nile: "I am glad you had fun, but what about the key card?"
Andy held up the key card.
Nile: "How did you do that?"
Andy: "What do you mean?"
Nile: "Getting the key card and a bottle of champagne."
Andy: "That is for you to figure out. Let us get going so I can drink the champagne."
Nile noticed it was the serious, always-on-the-alert Andy who got into the car as the first one.
Joe: "I hope you are planning on sharing that bottle of champagne with us because it is one of the better ones."
Andy: "Only if you give me some baklava in return."
Joe: "Fair enough. Here is your peanuts."
Joe handed Nicky the bag of peanuts back.
Nicky: "Grazie."
After a kiss, they got into the car so they could do the last leg of their mission.
