When God begs for forgiveness

Summary:

“An inseparable piece of everything… I admire about you.”

Jayce looks at the tall figure of his partner now, no longer human but closer to the divine, one last time, and he feels his very soul being pulled to the hivemind created by the god, his consciousness slipping from his glowing hands.

Then, he is one with the being he just spent his last moments declaring his unending love and admiration to, even as he was killing him.

Or

What would happen if Ekko didn't arrive earlier to throw the concept of time in Viktor's face and stop him from killing Jayce ?

Notes:

I just feel like writing the most depressing things rn. I need to exterioze all the angst I'm feeling myself one way or another haha.

This is very short, but, enjoy the hurt !

Work Text:

“An inseparable piece of everything… I admire about you.”

Jayce looks at the tall figure of his partner now, no longer human but closer to the divine, one last time, and he feels his very soul being pulled to the hivemind created by the god, his consciousness slipping from his glowing hands.

Then, he is one with the being he just spent his last moments declaring his unending love and admiration to, even as he was killing him.

Viktor instantly gets drowned in Jayce’s feelings and memories once they are connected. He sees everything he experienced, from the day he was born to this very moment, through his eyes, and the godly being is terrified at what he sees through them, mostly, at how he saw himself, how Jayce used to look at him, with so much… Affection. Viktor finally sees the beauty he was talking about.

What he thought were unrequited feelings, never were.

Viktor’s heart breaks, not the one of his physical body as it is an organ that he deemed necessary no more to his Glorious Evolution, but the one of his soul, undeniably does.

And he lets a desperate cry out.

It is no longer the voice of an omniscient god which echoes in this false universe he created to unite all of humanity to himself, but the voice of a broken man who realized too late he had just killed the man who loved him the most in this cold, cruel world, him before anyone or anything else.

Viktor’s form crumbled along with his will to pursue what he thought was the greater good.

Back in reality, all his machines stopped moving in disturbing stillness, looking at him, their master, as his tall frame fell to its knees and he circled his arms around the unmoving body of the man he just killed.

Viktor wished he still had human eyes to cry tears of water and salt and not whatever golden and corrupted fluid came out instead.

“I’m… I’m so sorry… Please Jayce, forgive me, I didn’t know… I…”

He can’t help but cry even more at the silence his pitiful pleading is greeted with.

No one can grant him the forgiveness he is begging for, not anymore.
