Work Text:

Cole had a gift for Sloan. He had no particular reason for it; he just wanted to get his partner a gift. It was a cowboy hat, belt, and boots. Basically, so they could be a cowboy— cowenby? Yeah, that.

He couldn’t wait to see the look on their face once they realized what he had gotten them… it was a genuine Western outfit!

“Oh Sloan!” Cole called out, holding the gift box in his hands as he entered the living room.

“Oh Cole!” Sloan mimicked his tone of voice, looking over the couch to see the gift box. “Omg, is that a gift for me?” they asked, standing up and walking over to Cole.

“Yep, I got it just for you,” Cole held it out. “Here, take it.”

Sloan took the gift box, opening it up excitedly when they gasped. “A cowboy hat?” They giggled loudly, putting it on. “This is amazing!”

“There’s more, hon. Look,” Cole chuckled.

“Boots?” Sloan gasped again, “And a belt? Oh, you’re spoiling me today!’ they laughed excitedly. “Real western gear from my real western cowboy boyfriend!”

“Darn tootin’!” Cole snorted. “Do ya wanna try it on? I have an outfit of yours in mind that it would look good with!”

“Yes, yes of course!” Sloan nodded, rushing towards the bedroom.

Cole followed after them, seeing they had already found the outfit laid out on the bed for them.

“This is gonna be awesome!” They took the clothes and rushed to the bathroom, getting dressed.

Cole couldn’t contain the smile that was on his face. Seeing Sloan get so excited and happy over this.

A few minutes later, Sloan emerged from the bathroom, fully dressed in the cowboy gear. The hat sat jauntily on their head, the boots clicked loudly against the hardwood floor, and the belt cinched neatly around their waist.

They posed dramatically, hands on their hips, giving Cole a grin so wide it practically lit up the room.

“Well, what do you think, cowboy?” Sloan asked, their voice playfully deepened in a faux Western drawl.

Cole let out a low whistle, clearly impressed. “I think I’m lookin’ at the most amazing cowenby I’ve ever seen.”

“You can just say cowboy, Cass,” Sloan laughed.

“I was tryin’ to be respectful but I didn’t know what ya preferred me to say,” Cole shrugged. “Still, best lookin’ cowboy I’ve ever done seen!”

“I love it, really,” Sloan laughed, spinning around in a circle. “I feel amazing! I love western getups a lot.”

“Are ya only datin’ me because I’m a cowboy?” Cole raised an eyebrow, trying to hold back his laughter.

“Nah, I love you for your personality too, cowboy,” Sloan laughed. “Now let’s go grocery shoppin’ or something! Or just— just go out in general! I wanna show everyone my new outfit.”

“Sure, let’s go,” Cole grabbed Sloan’s hand as the headed out.

Cole was so glad that they loved his gift — a genuine Western cowboy getup — as much as they did. It was truly an amazing feeling.

He was just happy that they were happy.
