    Those blessed with an element would master one of the forces of nature, their powers becoming stronger as they grow up. They could bring prosperity to their community and perform deeds unfathomable for a common man.

     

    But by giving Zhang Hao power over ice and cold, the gods damned him into a life of loneliness and alienation.

    If life was supposed to be a warm flame, was Zhang Hao even alive? After all, for others, the cold could mean death. The villagers feared cold, stowed away from it, and did whatever they could to keep their bodies “warm”.
