The 118, minus Bobby, was at karaoke, trying to cram in some fun in their short time off. It had been a difficult last shift and they weren't exactly eager to repeat that. And so here they were watching Buck, a little too into his rendition of Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne.
"Don't pretend, I think you know I'm damn precious
And hell yeah, I'm the motherfuckin' princess
I can tell you like me too and you know I'm right"
Was Eddie crazy or did it seem as though Buck was staring at him? And the pointing. He was pointing at Eddie and himself, right? No, maybe he was just really into his performance. That didn't mean anything. Just because some part of Eddie wanted the song to relate to them didn't mean it did. There was no way Buck both felt the same way about him and decided to announce it by singing this song in front of everyone.
"In a second, you'll be wrapped around my finger
'Cause I can, 'cause I can do it better
There's no other, so when's it gonna sink in?"
Hen and Chim started looking at him as though to see his reaction and it was becoming harder to convince himself it was all in his head, but it had to be. This was way too public a place to declare feelings to your best friend who happened to be a man who had never dated men before. And with a last "I want to be your girlfriend" the song was over and Eddie was ready to forget all about it. So he went up to sing something harmless. Then Chim and Hen each sang then Chim duetted with Maddie. They drank, they ate, they had fun. Eddie decided to go a second time because he was in particularly good mood. Chim followed, clearly addicted to singing karaoke, but who wouldn't be with his talent. Maddie went solo for once. And then, Buck went again.
"If you could see that I'm the one who understands you
Been here all along, so why can't you see?
You belong with me, you belong with me"
It was the same thing all over again with a new song. In fact, as soon as the song started, Eddie recognised You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift and let out a "Are you kidding me?" which didn't fail to grasp everyone's attention.
"Dreaming 'bout the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time"
Eddie had enough and he didn't care that everyone was staring at him. Or that they would all see this. He didn't care that Buck was clearly trying to provoke him and it worked. He stood and walked on stage.
"Is this what you want?" Eddie said and grabbed Buck's head between his hands and put their mouths together.
Everyone clapped and all Buck said once they separated was "kinda what I was hoping for, yes" prompting an annoyed Eddie to shut him up with another kiss. It had all been a ploy and Eddie had fallen right into Buck's trap. He would have to make him pay for that later. But for now all he could do was kiss him and compliment him on his great performances.
