Summary
There’s a lot of yelling, in his final moments. For some unusual reason, Eddie had always thought he’d go out quietly. Calm. In his mind, he had been more than half-convinced that he’d make it through the war. He’d been in the USMC all these long years, after all; Peleliu surely would be his last campaign, and most importantly, he had a family to get back to. It may have been foolish on his part, but Eddie believed in keeping up the hope almost as much as Andy believed in him.
But still. Fate could be a helluva’ son of a bitch sometimes.
