Day 2 — Amnesia

Summary:

Furina met a stranger on the threshold of her house.

Work Text:

Furina did not understand why the strangers tanding on the porch of her house looked suspiciously like her. The only difference was in the hairstyle (the unknown girl's hair wass everal times longer), and especially in her smile: Furina often smiled slightly if she needed to accept a modest emotion, and smiled broadly from happiness, closing her eyes.

Stranger was smiling strangely now, with a squint, baring her teeth from time to time, as if to show that she would do no harm.

"I bought some sweets. Do you remember when youw anted that cake? So, today we can afford a piece," the girl was about to take a step, but Furina prevented her from going inside, "Furina, is something wrong? Are you preparing some kind of surprise and you don't want me to watch?" a chuckle came out of her mouth.

"Do I know you...?" Why did you decide to enter myh ouse without permission? And how do you know my name?" Furina's tone smoothly changed fromu ncomprehending to menacing.

Stranger, in turn, changed her face: from joyful, she turned into a misunderstanding of the situation.

"Focalors. You and I are one, Furina. Have you completely forgotten?"

While Furina was processing the information, the girl entered the house, smiling triumphantly. De Fontaine shouted an indignant "hey!" and ran after the girl.

"You are breaking the law by entering a house without the permission of its owner! Do you want me to complain?!"

Focalors rolled her eyes and covered her mouth in feigned haste.

"I live here with you. Stop joking around."

"I'm not joking! I don't recall ever knowing you, Miss. And why do you look exactly like me?" Furina pleaded, raising her eyes to the ceiling, as if there was an answer to the question.

Focalors considered Furina's tone. Either she was playing so well, or she really didn't remember her.

The former goddess, while still in her first human form several centuries ago, read about human psychology. Indeed, a human can forget some traumatic moments for him, but not to remember the moment of their first acquaintance seemed strange to her. Maybe Neuvillette did something to her? Who knows what the limit of the hydro dragon's capabilities is?

Girl exhaled painfully. It looks like she'll have to replay the scene with the mirror again, and maybe Furina will remember something, and won't treat Focalors with that attitude.
