Work Text:
Stiles was definitely going to get fired.
His mission had been clear. Get close to Peter Hale as his intern at the law firm he runs, relay any info overheard, and figure out what made him so different from other mob bosses. That was it. Simple, right?
Wrong.
Stiles had actually started to like the sarcastic bastard. He was devilishly handsome and was just so smooth when he wanted to be. And Stiles being Stiles, a lovesick fool, fell for him.
Their first meeting was what really had Stiles falling, but he’d never actually admit that. Stiles dialed his usual self up to a thousand, dishing out any sarcastic and cutting remarks he could think of while being interviewed by Peter. He didn’t try to be nice, because this was a man who grew into wealth and wanted for nothing. He could handle some sass from a lanky 20 year old.
But the odd thing was, Peter wasn’t enraged. He seemed amused more than anything. They bantered for most of the interview, and it was the most settled Stiles had felt in a long time. It surprised him and barely anything surprised him anymore. He was a double agent for gods sake. But this mafia man, Peter Hale, the brutal but fair man, with far too much money, and eyes that seemed to flash when they caught the light. Snarky and downright rude, yes, but he had a certain fondness in his eyes?
It all had confused Stiles enough to drop his act for a second, and he knew Peter noticed. He had somehow gotten the job and gained the phone number of one Peter Hale. “For any questions you may have, darling” accompanied by a sly wink.
And now Stiles was here, laying next to a semi naked Peter. It has been months now, and Stiles was making excuses for himself. He honestly had gotten attached to the man laying next to him. He really didn’t want to betray him.
So he stayed. He told Peter everything. At first, he was hurt and angry beyond words, ignoring Stiles for days. He tried to explain that he only ever told lies to his employer, never anything real. It took weeks for Peter to come back around.
The event that brought Peter back fully was when his employer figured out that Stiles betrayed them. They took him, and Peter came to rescue him. Stiles wasn’t a damsel in distress nor was he helpless, but he knew he would never be able to win against his employer, not alone and tied up in a basement. Once that was taken care of, Stiles settled in with Peter. He kept the job as an intern, even though his lover insisted he didn’t have to.
But it made Stiles happy, to be near Peter almost 24/7. His work as a double agent never made him happy. He was only doing it to pay the bills. But now, he was happy. He was content. He was ready to spend the rest of his days just like this, happy with his wolf.
