Work Text:
Dante stared at the Sinners. <Why are you guys so big?>
Don Quixote jumped in place, ran up to Dante and scooped them up from the ground. “Manager Esquire thou art now pocket sized!” She exclaimed, raising her hands suddenly.
Dante had to hold onto her thumb to not fall. <D-Don Quixote! Don't make sudden movements, please!> Dante ticked in panic.
Don Quixote, realizing the situation, nodded and carefully lowered her arms so Dante was now on her eye level.
“Sir Vergilius!” Don Quixote yelled as she ran into the front of Mephistopheles and stood next to Vergilius’ seat. The man sighed, clearly he's been having a nap. He opened his eyes and looked at Don Quixote. “Just why are you yelling?” He asked, his eyes glowing a bit.
Don Quixote cowered a bit and held out her hands towards Vergilius. “Prithee, Sir Vergilius! Our dear Manager hath shrunk!”
Vergilius looked at Don Quixote's hands and indeed there was a pocket sized Dante. They waved to the man, their usual ticking much quieter.
Vergilius reached out with his palms facing up. Dante stood up, walked onto Vergilius' hands and sat down.
Dante felt a bit weird in Vergilius' hands. While Don Quixote held them they felt normal but now being held in Vergilius' hands it felt strangely intimate to Dante. They looked up at Vergilius who had a slight frown on his face.
“How did that happen?” Vergilius asked, looking up at Don Quixote. The blonde shook her head. “I do not know. One moment they were regular sized then suddenly pocket sized.” Vergilius sighed, he looked at the other Sinners who were huddled together, looking at the tiny Dante.
“Go back to your seats.” Vergilius said, his eyes scanning over the Sinners. He watched as every single Sinner went to their seat and sat down.
Dante patted Vergilius' palm to get his attention. Vergilius looked at Dante who let out a few happy chimes. Vergilius smiled softly. “What are you so happy about Dante?” Dante tilted their head back and forth happily. Vergilius carefully lowered his hands, mindful to not let them fall.
Dante got an idea. They looked at Vergilius who now was staring out of the window. They patted Vergilius' palm to get his attention again. Vergilius turned his head to look at Dante, they raised their hands as if to say “up”. The man sighed softly and raised his hands, Dante now at Vergilius' eye level.
Dante chimed happily making Vergilius smile. They motioned for him to get closer. Once he got close enough Dante shuffled even closer and pressed their clock against his cheek.
Vergilius gasped quietly, feeling the cold metal against his cheek. He watched as Dante shuffled away. Vergilius turned his head to look behind him but the Sinners were minding their business.
Dante noticed the faint blush on his face.
Dante looked around sitting in Vergilius' pocket. Everything was so big now. Well actually Dante was so small now that it
seemed
big.
“Hide.” Vergilius said, gently shoving his finger against Dante's clockhead. Dante let go of the pocket and hid inside.
“Ah, Red Gaze we meet again.”
Dante felt and heard Vergilius sigh deeply.
“I was hoping to not see you anytime soon Siegfried.”
“Where are your…” From Siegfried's tone of voice Dante could tell the man was searching for a word to describe who the Sinners were to Vergilius. “Friends?” It seemed like the man ignored Vergilius' comment.
“I believe I told you that group isn't exactly my friends.”
“Right, right. What about that clockhead of yours?” Siegfried seemed to wait for Vergilius' answer for a monent. “I do remember seeing you talk to them when I beat the rest of your friends.”
Dante felt Vergilius shift. “Why are you asking about them?” Vergilius asked, his tone accusatory.
“Ah I've just been wondering what is your relationship with them.” A pause. “You know I remember seeing how you were looking at them.”
“Just what are you implying?” A shift of Vergilius' body again.
“I'm not implying anything.”
Dante felt tired, they could use a nap. They looked up at Vergilius who once again was staring out of the window. Dante laid down, trying to not disturb Vergilius.
“What are you doing Dante?” Vergilius asked. Dante looked up at him, he seemed confused. They sighed, communication with Vergilius was even worse now.
Charon was sitting next to Vergilius. “Tick-Tock is going to sleep?” She asked. Dante nodded. Charon nodded back. “Good sleep Tick-Tock.”
It's been some time since Dante was awake from their nap. Now they watched Charon play on Vergilius' phone. She had lowered it enough so Dante could stay on Vergilius' hands. “Is Tick-Tock going to stay like that?” Charon asked, looking at Dante. They shook their head. They knew they'd go back to normal soon enough.
