“Do you see our relationship as a lesbian relationship?” Ken suddenly asks, almost shocking Momo off of her bed. “What? No, of course not. You’re a guy, and I’m as straight as can be.” Momo replies, looking up at Ken with a serious look on her face.
“Are you really straight? I mean, sure I identify as a guy, but I still have breasts and, er, you know, that-“ Ken turns red at this, too embarrassed to say the word vagina, which Momo would find endearing in any other situation, but now is overshadowed by her obvious concern for him. “Anyways, I’m basically a short-haired girl with my binder off - can you really be attracted to that if you’re straight?”
“Ken, where is this coming from? Is it your dysphoria again?” Momo asks, and Ken’s gaze becoming suddenly fixed on the wall opposite her is all too telling.

In Japan, you can start HRT at 15 - with parental consent. Unfortunately for Ken, his parents aren’t around often enough for him to even come out to them, much less start hormonal treatment. He copes with it - well, at least he tries to, but not every day is easy.
