Love Note

Summary:

“Dear Senku Ishigami,
It would mean a great deal to me if you were to date me, even though I am not a part of the science club…”
---

“You know I keep finding you in all my incidents, that's quite embarrassing.” Senku said, Luna did have to just laugh at that. “I’m being serious, I can't tell if you're a good luck charm or a bad one.”

It makes Luna smile a lot, it's nice when your crush jokes around with you. And he smiles back at her.

“Maybe you should keep me around to experiment,” Luna had said to him. She was so cool when she said it too but in her mind she was giving herself a high five over and over again.

“Oh it's on the list,”

Work Text:

Ever since forever, Luna has had this massive heart wrenching crush on Ishigami Senku! Now give her a second, she needs to be heard out on this! Yes he was the guy that set multiple fires in the science lab and almost torched her skirt when they first met. Yes he was also the guy that caused one of the boy’s bathrooms to flood because the pipes burst with something the science club needed to get rid of fast. Yes he is also called the Highschooler Mad Scientist, rumored to be in contact with NASA scientists and possibly aliens. But there was just something about him.

In a school of weird super geniuses and people with their own gimmicks, it's hard to stand out but he does all the time. He’s confident to a fault and proud as hell. Though never of himself but to the many people in the Science Club or those who hang around him. Like he was a planet of infinite possibilities with many moons in his orbit. They changed him and he changed them. Everyone she’s ever talked to can vouch for him in some shape or form. He's so cool, of course Luna is just as cool and thinking about it they could be the most popular couple in the school if they were to get together.

It would be nice to have her first boyfriend be a boy she admired.

“You’re doing it again!” Chelsea gleefully informed as she looked at Luna’s notes.

Instead of math equations and actual notes on how to do these difficult questions, there were little doodles of Senku, “Luna Ishigami” in little hearts in the margins, and the most embarrassing thing Chelsea was eyeing were embarrassing drawings of  a little love child Luna made up. She had Senku’s eyes but her pink hair.

“NO!” Luna quickly slammed her notebook shut and held it close to her chest so her friend wouldn't see more.

“You’re so down bad,” Chelsea teased in a little mocking tone. Yes Luna did say that she wasn’t that exactly and it was biting her in the ass!

“I’ve got a crush that’s all,” Luna prompted and it wasn’t working on Chelsea, her squinting and smirking making Luna squirm in her seat.

“Suuuuuuuurreeee,” Chel said as she sat down at her desk next to Luna’s. “So when are you gonna tell him?”

“Uh! Well I uh!” Luna didn’t plan on doing that! Well she would because she was so capable and smooth. She would be surprised if he didn’t say yes right away!

“I don’t think he's that into relationships! Have you seen the amount of chocolate he gets?” Luna says, and sure she did contribute to that total and maybe he wasn’t as impressive as Ryusui who had butlers come on during Valentine’s day to pick up all the chocolate. Senku had never accepted a girl’s confession before.

“Chocolate Shmolate!” Chelsea says as she pats down on Luna’s notebook. “There's a difference between love chocolate and friendly chocolate.”

Still didn’t make Luna feel all that better.

“You think all of his chocolate is friendly?”

“At least 90% so you have a good chance!”

Luna giggled off to herself, at least it was really nice of her to try to encourage her little crush.

Though she had thought about confessing to Senku for some time now, at least enough to think about doing the clique letter writing. It wasn’t above her as the smoothest operator though the target of her affections must be too busy reading other important things like uh…documents to notice her letter despite its glamour. The type of man Luna thinks he must be, real cool.

Nevertheless, Luna sighed when she went home for the day. Thinking about Senku, and how to truly approach a guy like him.

Luna had finally convinced Carlos to let her walk all by herself! To the car a couple blocks down so she could walk with friends and maybe even get a chance to talk to Senku. Even for just a couple of seconds, where she could possibly tell him her feelings. They could possibly hold hands and walk down the street until they reached the corner store to share some ice cream. The lovebirds would probably have to stop holding hands by the time Luna reached the car, since it would take another twenty years until Carlos and Max approve of a boy she liked. Even though a capable girl like her should be able to pick out any boy and have immaculate taste when it comes to them.

Luna wouldn’t have minded a problem like that. To her it would have been a hiccup at best since she was capable of doing everything. Though she wasn’t exactly in that situation to be thinking about her fake problems. Even if she would like to deal with those rather than the hardest problem she came to face yet. She had to ask him out. Her face flushing at the thought of going up to him and just ripping it off like a bandaid. She wanted to ask him out so much.

So Luna should, maybe it takes more than a letter or two, so what! As long as Luna takes that first step, then nothing is impossible.

So she wrote!

“Dear Ishigami Senku,

I’ve had a crush on you since we’ve met, around April 5th at 7:56 am”

Luna trashed the start of this once since it made her sound like a stalker. Which she wasn’t!

It was just a very special day, when she was allowed to start public highschool instead of the private academy her dad was insisting she should go too. But Luna already lived that awful academy life! The ridicule got too ridiculous, any capable girl would buckle at the pressure! So when Luna heard that the Nanamis’ of all people have two sons that attend public school, she had to try!

There she met Senku, who nearly torched her skirt in a burner incident.

“You! Get the extinguisher!” Senku had first said to her, and Luna had to touch one for the first time in her life. Holding it together with that mad science boy until the flame went out.

If her father found out that this is how her first day went, she would never be allowed to leave the house! Luna panicked even with the flame gone, her heart pounding in her chest until Senku said.

“Oh wow that's a look,” He said when examining her skirt. Crumbling in his hand and Luna wanted to die! His callous fingers grazed her skin ever so softly and Luna didn’t know what to do except stand there in horror!

“I’ll pay for your uniform, but I have a friend who can make you a replica.”

Which is how Luna met Yuzuriha that day. She got the time from her since she was so sure they would all be late due to the incident. Though Senku just patted her shoulder and told her:

“She’ll get you situated in a pinch,”

Luna felt like Cinderella when Yuzuriha took her measurements and suddenly constructed a skirt that looked just like the school uniform. With pockets! It was fitted perfectly onto her and it felt like going to the private school where it had to fit perfectly with no bagginess. Which made her feel weird in a familiar strange way as Yuzuriha talked to her and got her skirt just right.

“I can even perform some alterations cause it looks like the uniform might be kinda small on you,” Yuzuriha siad and motioned to Luna’s legs which looked so long in the skirt.

“When we have the time ladies,” Senku informed and motioned to the clock, and it looked like classes were about to start. “Besides she looks fine just like that,”

Luna didn’t know whether or not to take that as a compliment or not, and at the time she took it as not since Senku was rushing them. Although it was warranted since they barely made it.

Looking back now, writing a new letter again, she's taking it as a compliment.

“Dear Senku Ishigami,

It would mean a great deal to me if you were to date me, even though I am not a part of the science club…”

It was another letter starter that Luna didn’t like, she huffed as she crumbled it up into a little paper ball and tossed it off to the trash can across her bedroom. This one didn’t make it in though it would have bounced right out if it did. The trashcan was filling up with crumbled up letters and attempts that it would soon avalanche onto her floor. Looking at it now Luna was starting to feel helpless.

Luna didn’t even know if she could date him! He was always in the lab of the science club, performing his own experiments and helping other students with favors. He was also always fixing something, like the time he caused property damage that gave his club a real bad name.

She was actually caught up in the situation, needing to use the restroom at the worst time possible.

It was actually very embarrassing, as Luna was heading towards the girl’s room she could clearly see Senku running for his life into the boy’s restroom. Luna thought she was going to perish thinking about how Senku would have it in his mind that, “Yes! Luna Wright, like any person, goes to the bathroom!” and that would have killed her. Though he didn’t acknowledge her at all as he rushed into the bathroom with a vial of something.

Luna didn’t think too much of it, walking into the bathroom and hoping Senku’s stomach was okay. Suddenly the pipes of the bathroom burst! The sink faucets began to spill over with water faster than it could drain and several toilets started to bubble up. Luna ran out of there so fast only to bump into Senku.

“Run!” He said, taking her hand and sprinting with her. Luna’s heart raced as she looked back to see what the hell they were running from, it must have been bad since the other science club members were already down the hall away from the restrooms. The doors burst open with fast acting foam and it was slicking right toward them! Luna could only hold onto Senku and run like hell!

By the end of it, the mess was waist deep and the science club got the lecture of their lives.

It was a weird day to say the least, everyone got to go home early as things were cleaned up. But Senku came over to her, scaring her since she was much more worried about telling her dad about the incident. Hoping to lie to him about her involvement.

Senku being there made her face all the more red, she wanted to hide it so badly!

“Hey Luna, the school issued me to apologize.” Which did kill the mood. Though with his hand rubbing the back of his neck and that exhausted look in his eye, all of her own ailments washed right over her.

“Maybe you should keep me around for the experiments,” Luna had said to him. She was so cool when she said it too but in her mind she was giving herself a high five over and over again.

“Oh it's on the list,” He said to her, cleaning out his ear the way he does. They would have talked more if it weren’t for the members of the science club taking away Senku.

“I’ll see you!” Luna called out when he basically disappeared into the school.

She smiles at the memory, keeping her head down and trying to start a new letter.

“Dear Senku!

I like you a lot. Like a lot.

I want to be your girlfriend.”

Luna blushed at how forward this starter had been, with time slowing down into the night she was beginning to go a bit mad. Since her letter just had to be perfect for Senku to instantly fall head over heels for her. Though how bold would you have to be when it came to the Highschooler Mad Scientist!

The nickname was actually more recent if her foggy memory wasn’t failing her now, when the sports festival was underway. Luna had finished sweating up, since a capable girl like her could run really well! Winning second for her class! Though it didn’t feel fair since the girl in first place was on the track team with a school record.

Luna in all honesty was trying to avoid Senku after her race, since she had been sweating and even resting wasn’t cooling off her body. Her crush on him was in full swing at that point, so being seen in such an unsightly way would have just killed Luna right then and there! So like the smoothest operator, Luna just hid around. That is until Luna heard the next event calling out Senku’s name on the green team, the exact opposite of her on the purple team.

It was pretty funny to find out that Senku had been placed on the grab the bandana event, riding way on top of his best friend Taiju and Ryusui.

“Let's go Highschooler Mad Scientist!!” Someone in the crowd of Senku’s team cheered and everyone else began to chant for their victory.

It was like God or something hated her! For a second, Senku made eye contact with her, despite all the different people in the crowd cheering for the Highschooler Mad Scientist. Luna must have made him uncomfortable in that moment since he looked away first, with that devious smirk and cleaning out his ear.

“You can’t get embarrassed now Senku! We’re gonna win!!” Taiju cheered and everyone else did as well. Hyping up for the event.

Luna blushed when she remembered the amount of eye contact she made, she felt such shame. She must have looked like a fish that just crawled out of the water and he just had to see her when she was sticky and gross. Though staying out in the sun, quietly rooting for Senku was also a blast.

It was very late now, and Luna had re-read her letter about a million times. So it was basically perfect now. All she needed to do was give it to Senku, by shoving it in his shoe locker and pretending like she didn’t just do that!

Going to sleep now felt impossible but thinking about Senku and how close they had gotten made everything go down a little easier.

“Oh wow I didn’t think you would actually do it!” Chelsea said and ouch that hurt!

“I’ll have you know I am capable of anything I set my mind to!” Luna said with great confidence. She did it! She put her letter in his locker which still had his indoor shoes so she knew he would see it! And she totally didn’t debate on whether or not she should take out the letter and hide it with her shameful secrets.

“You dot your i’s and cross your t’s right?” Chelsea asked as she prayed more into Luna’s love life.

“I did!” Luna said and in bold confidence showed her bestie all of the work that went into something as delicate as a love letter entailed.

The letters in her notebook were all written in her pretty handwriting but never made the cut for numerous reasons. Most of which just didn’t feel right though Luna really didn’t want all that work to go unnoticed! So she hoped Chelsea saw one and had the courage to go confess to her own crush!

“Uh babes, half of these are signed off as Luna Ishigami.” Chelsea casually dropped.

Luna the ever capable girl stood proud and tall. Her eyes slowly glazed over when she was told that she did something that embarrassing.

“But you didn’t like sign off that letter to Senku with that right?”

No! Luna would never do something that embarrassing ever. Since a capable girl like her was so much more careful with something like that. So yeah Chelsea didn’t need to worry her pretty little head. Since Luna totally didn’t do that.

Though to make sure Luna didn’t do that, she ran off out of the classroom. Slamming the door open and running as fast as her legs could take her. Down the hall in a pink little blur Luna ran past that dumb still broken bathroom! She couldn’t smile and greet the science club members that were chatting outside of the classroom, Luna would apologize later!

Finally Luna sharply turned the corner into Senku’s classroom. She was breathing much harder than she was after her relay race during sports day. Not caring about how she looked in front of everyone that still lingered in class during their break.

Everyone’s eyes were on her when she entered, including Senku’s. With her stationary in his hand. Luna’s face began to turn a dark deep red when she realized she was far too late.

Though before anybody else could talk to Luna about her sudden and loud appearance, it was Senku who held onto her arm to slowly take her from the scene. Smiling all the while in that way that made her heart swoon. If only it wasn’t filled with dread right around now.

“So Luna Ishigami, how about a date?”

Notes:

I needed some SenLuna so I wrote this in like two days.
