Work Text:
Keqing spared no expense when it came to her wife. Luckily, as one of the most successful businesswomen in the world, she didn’t need to worry about money whenever she wanted to spoil Ganyu (which was all the time). While Keqing wouldn’t exactly call herself a sugar momma given how her wife did not lack for wealth or status by herself, gift giving was her favorite way of showing Ganyu how much she loved her—and no, that wasn’t just an excuse for her to go shopping.
That being said, while Keqing made sure to engage in all five love languages with her wife, she was also aware that Ganyu appreciated spending quality time with her partner the most. Given Keqing’s busy schedule as a CEO, that meant it was also the most difficult one for her in practice.
But with their fifth wedding anniversary coming up, Keqing had set aside everything in preparation for a huge celebration for just the two of them. She had managed to completely clear her schedule for the next three weeks—a feat that even Keqing wasn’t sure would have been possible at first. Unfortunately, Ganyu couldn’t say the same for herself, although her situation was a matter of unfortunate circumstances out of their control.
“What do you mean there’s been a complication with the fundraiser?” Ganyu asked over the phone, sounding far more stressed than she should have been right before such a big vacation. “Call Ningguang then since she’s the treasurer! I’m about to leave the country—I can’t come back in to help sort things out!”
Keqing remained silent throughout the exchange, opting to focus on reviewing their itinerary instead. She had a lot planned for them, but she also made sure to schedule a considerable amount of free days in between different private excursions so that they could relax. After all, they both need a break from worrying about work… even if that was being slightly delayed by the unexpected hiccup in her wife’s charity event.
Ganyu continued to stay on the phone until they reached the airport, much to Keqing’s dismay. Still, she knew that interrupting her wife during an important call would have only caused her more stress, so Keqing told herself to just suck it up and wait it out. At some point during their vacation, Ganyu would have to relax whether she liked it or not. Keqing did not enjoy being so controlling of her wife outside of… certain circumstances, but if Ganyu wasn’t going to enjoy the trip she had planned out so meticulously for their biggest milestone anniversary yet…
Well, in that case, Keqing wouldn’t be opposed to playing the part of a nagging housewife yelling at her overworked partner if it was for the greater good. After all, she was the greatest good her wife would ever get.
Even as they walked through to board their private jet (because Keqing was NOT going to risk either of them accidentally getting sick from a public flight, even if her wife preferred flying first-class on them over private planes for the sake of the environment), Ganyu still didn’t hang up. Keqing knew it was only a matter of time until they were both forced to put their phones on airplane mode, so whatever business she had left to deal with would have to be dealt with quickly. Although they’d have access to the best Wi-Fi offered in the air, they still wouldn’t be allowed to use any cellular data once they take off.
Ganyu was certainly making the most of her time until then, though…
Keqing rubbed the bridge of her nose as she continued to listen to Ganyu frantically give instructions and suggestions to whoever was more important than her own wife at the moment. Just a little longer, and then they could finally begin their vacation together, even if they would still be on a plane…
“—we’re about to take off now, so I have to go. Email me any updates and questions, all right? Okay, bye.”
Keqing looked over at Ganyu, setting aside her own phone in favor of paying attention to the beautiful woman next to her.
“Something’s come up?” Keqing asked, just to be polite.
Ganyu sighed, leaning against her wife on the couch. “Yes, but I’m afraid it’s up to the other trustees to take care of it until I come back. I have a feeling I’ll be greeted with quite the backlog of issues after this trip…”
Keqing threw an arm around Ganyu’s shoulders, pulling her in closer. “Hey, don’t worry about that right now. You work harder than anyone else in that organization, and you don’t even get paid for it!”
“It’s a nonprofit; none of us are getting paid,” Ganyu deadpanned. “Besides, it’s not like we don’t get compensated—”
“Anyway,” Keqing interrupted playfully, “I just think it’s so attractive of you to care so much about doing charity work, so how about you let your wife compensate you for all your hard work?”
Ganyu giggled, then leaned in to rest her head against Keqing’s shoulder. Even with the rumbling of the plane about to take off, Ganyu just closed her eyes and took comfort in her wife’s warmth and presence.
“If you insist, then who am I to deny such a generous offer?” she teased back.
At the sound of her phone buzzing on the table, Ganyu’s eyes snapped open again, and she immediately reached for it. As her wife checked her email, Keqing couldn’t help but let out a pained groan in response to being the other woman’s second priority today. Again.
At least Ganyu had the decency to at least look up at Keqing to apologize, her expression guilt-ridden.
“I’m sorry, honey. Once I finish taking care of this issue, I promise you’ll have my undivided attention.”
Keqing was a grown woman who understood the importance of putting work first over personal desires, but that did not stop her from pouting anyway. Even someone as dedicated to fulfilling their duty as Ganyu faltered under the puppy-dog eyes that were being directed at her from her wife—especially from her wife.
The secretary reluctantly put her phone away, unable to resist Keqing’s charms.
“I suppose I can trust Ningguang to handle things while I’m on vacation…”
Victorious, Keqing pressed a kiss to Ganyu’s cheek.
“Good girl.”
