Tokyo, Japan. A bustling city. Streets flooded with people every single day. But it was a beautiful city. It’s where they grew up, it’s where they live.
It was just another day for two teenagers. They met in the funniest way, really. Seiko wanted to take Nakamigawa to this… what… ice.. show? Something like that. She said it was important for him to get out.
And there she was, on the ice. Miki Isono herself. She was a world renowned figure skater, gliding gracefully across the ice. Wait… didn’t she do streams? Those art streams he always watched.
She… recognized Nakamigawa, shockingly. At least he was happy. They hit off after the show. Exchanged numbers and promised to meet up somewhere. And so they did meet up. One day. Two days. Four. Eight. They’ve been friends for over two years now.
17 years old.
“Hurry up, Nagawaaa! I wanna go to that other shop down the street! They had pretty outfits!” Miki shouted, looking at her brunette friend who was carrying all the bags of things she bought behind her. He rolled his eyes underneath those tinted red glasses of his.
“Well then carry your own stuff! I only bought one shirt and some new sunglasses! You bought like- a million things!” He shouted, exasperated. Miki giggled, walking to him with her usual smile.
“But you’re so big and stroonnngg!” She smirked.
“First of all, Mai is way stronger than me. Second of all I am going to throw everything into the road.”
“NO WAIT NAGAWA PLEASE DONNNTTT…” She whined, looking at him with pleading eyes.
“THEN CARRY YOUR OWN WEIGHT BITCH-” He shot back playfully. Miki sighed and rolled her eyes, grabbing a few of her bags from Nakamigawa’s arms.
“There! Now I’m carrying my weight!” She giggled, walking alongside her best friend, a small bounce in her step. Nakamigawa looked at her with a small smile.
“Jeez, you’re always full of that fuckin’ energy, huh?”
“Always!”
They walked in silence for a bit, a happy silence. In their own little worlds.
“Do you think we’ll be friends forever?” Miki asked, her voice quiet compared to the bustling noise of cars zooming by and people shouting around them.
“Forever is impossible.” Nakamigawa started with a shrug. “But I’ll be friends with you for as long as I can.”
“Promise?” She asked softly.
“Wh-” He stuttered out, confused. He sighed afterwards. “… promise.”
“Yay!” She cheered with that toothy grin of hers. That sweet toothy grin. Nakamigawa looked at her and smiled back with a small laugh…
… before she grabbed his sunglasses and dashed off.
“WH- MIKIMIKI-! GIVE MY GLASSES BACK-! I NEED THEM!” He shouted, running after his friend angrily.
“MOTHER FUCKER!”
“Can’t catch me~! Hahaha- OOF-”
… so she may have run into a light post head on. Ow.
“.... PFFT- ARE YOU OK???”
“I RAN INTO A LIGHTPOST WHAT DO YOU THINK NAGAWA-”
“...”
“Karma.” He smirked, walking past his fallen friend but not before grabbing his sunglasses back.
“WH- HEY! GET BACK- NAGAWA!” She shouted, standing up with somewhat torn bags and a few scrapes. Ow.
“DON’T LEAVE ME HERE-! C’MON, NAGAWAAAA!” She screamed out into the empty street, running after her friend.
“N- Nagawa- seriously you can’t just- leave me here! ” She cried out, the streets becoming dark and dreary. This wasn’t Tokyo anymore.
“Nagwa- c- c’mon please- c’mon- get up- let’s just- cmon Nagawa- please-” Her voice died out, the smell of fresh air became replaced with something… metallic?
“N- Nagawa- ” Her voice faded into nothing, her smile morphed into tears.
“Isono- we need to investigate -” .. who was that… that… wasn’t Nagawa. It was just her and Nagawa. They were friends. No one else. This… guy had blue hair. Jellyfish blue hair. Not the guy Nagawa liked- what was his name- Takeshi?
“Miki… c- c’mon.” Masa. That… was someone she knew. Nagawa and Miki liked Masa. Masa was nice. He was tugging on her arm.
“Miki, we seriously need to investigate, come on.” A third voice… Mai. That was Mai. Mai was… an old friend of theirs. She… made outfits. Yeah. She made her outfit. She made Nagawa’s outfit. She-
“Miki!” Mai shouted again, snapping Miki out of her… whatever it was.
“S- Sorry-!” She shouted.
“.. sorry-” She mumbled again.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Let’s just- investigate, OK?”
“.. O- OK..”
Miki sighed, looking up at the corpse. Oh god the corpse-
H- he was... impaled. How did they even do that to him- i- it was a sharpened broom- through his chest- oohh god- he looked so pale.. so scared and pale. All the life from his face drained, his sunglasses shattered below him. Oh god...
"N- Nagawa... I-"
"Ignore it, investigate, then we can- .. grieve." Mai sighed.
"F- fine. Alright."
