Work Text:

The day begins with Gyuvin picking out some flowers for his best friend Gunwook. The two of them have always been close and even made it a tradition to be on each other's Valentine's date every year.

The first year they decided to do it, it was for laughs. Gyuvin had gotten Gunwook a card, and then they watched cheesy rom-coms all day.

But something the two have never seriously tried to plan is a cute day for themselves, so that's exactly what this year's Valentine's is all about.

Gunwook had gotten the pair cute matching shirts that had both of their faces on them with the words “I love him”.

While Gyuvin was out, Gunwook decided to decorate a lot and over the top. He blew up at least twenty balloons, had pink, red, and white streamers from the corners of the rooms, and even some in the kitchen and front doorway.

Proudly, Gunwook added some balloons onto some parts of the streamers, just as Gyuvin entered with the flowers and wearing his matching shirt.

“Gunwook-ah,” He said as he set his keys down and smiled at the streamers and decorations. “Hyung!” Gunwook calls out from the living room where he is finishing putting the balloons.

“Do you like it?” He asks as he walks over to the older who hid the flowers behind his back for a surprise.

“It’s pretty, of course I do.” Gyuvin compliments which makes Gunwook flash his natural gummy smile with a slight pink tint to his cheeks.

“What do you have?” The younger asks as he tries to peek behind Gyuvin’s back but he keeps moving.

“No peeking, Wook! Close your eyes and I'll show you.” He says with a small chuckle, enjoying the silly game of back-and-forth of Gunwook trying to see.

After finally getting Gunwook to close his eyes and stop peeking, Gyuvin holds the flowers in front of him with a shy, lopsided smile.

“You can open them now.” Gunwook takes his hands away and smiles at Gyuvin and the flowers he is holding.

“That's so cute, Gyu Hyung! Are they for me?” He points to his chest, his cheeks tinting pink again. “Of course, Gunwookie. Who else would they be for?” Gyuvin chuckles and hands them to him.

Once they find a vase for Gunwook’s flowers, they head out for their reserved dinner date at one of their favorite restaurants.

Walking hand in hand like some couples do, despite them not being one, they're seated at a booth and each poured a glass of wine.

Their dinner date is far from boring with Gunwook talking about his newest hyperfixation and Gyuvin talking about his dog Eumppappa.

Since Gyuvin isn't much of a drinker, he opted out of the second glass of wine that was offered to him, preferring water instead, while Gunwook had another glass.

Not long after their dinner date, they head back home to finish their Valentine's date with baking and watching rom-coms like usual.

Cue them being in a puddle of flour that Gunwook spilled because Gyuvin had dropped an egg and forgot to clean it since they were racing each other on who could make the cookies faster.

“Gunwook!” He laughs loudly, his brown hair now white and his black pants now having a spotted white design.

Gunwook on the other hand was on his back, laughing loudly as his whole face, chest, and head were covered in flour since it went up when he went down.

“I'm sorry! I was trying to beat you! Hey, it's your fault for not cleaning up this egg mess, Hyung!” He points at the older accusatory.

“My fault?! I told you if you give me 2 minutes to mix my batter I'd clean it!” Gyuvin replies through laughter, noting how Gunwook looks like a bao bun with eyes and a mouth.

“You just knew I'd win, cheater!” Gunwook says with a smile as he stands, shaking off his hair and dusting off his shirt.

“That's not fair, Wook! I was already mixing my batter and you haven't started yours!” He replies, also copying his actions, smiling happily.

After cleaning up their mess, they playfully bickered while finishing their batter and put the cookies in the oven before relaxing to watch a show.

Gunwook has his arm around Gyuvin while he has his long legs pulled up to his chest, chin resting on his knees. “I couldn't imagine a better day with anyone else, honestly,” Gyuvin says casually, smiling over at Gunwook.

“Me either. I'm glad we started doing this tradition.” He admits with his gummy smile again, one reserved only for his hyung.

“I can't imagine spending Valentine's with anyone else but you, Gyu,” He admits with a smile.

With that, they cuddle up again and watch their rom-com until the timer goes off for them to get their cookies.

“Oh, we should do one with our initials,” Gyuvin says with a smile as they decorate their heart-shaped cookies.

“Yeah because we couldn't put G or G.” Gunwook chuckles as he holds the heart cookie close to his face, focusing on frosting it perfectly.

“PGW and KGV.” He smiles at the other happily, enjoying the cute moment.

While they frost the cookies they're proud of, they also watch their rom-com in the living room across from them.

Gunwook gets so invested that he doesn't see Gyuvin leaning over to wipe some pink frosting on his naturally pink cheeks. “Ack! What the hell?” He laughs and faces Gyuvin who has that stupidly cute lopsided smile.

“It matches your cheeks.” He shrugs with a smile until his face drops as Gunwook is now leaning over with the red frosting and saying it matches his lips.

Chasing the elder around the island counter in his home, Gunwook laughs while Gyuvin tries to hold things up to block himself.

“Gunwook, stop this madness!” He laughs, with no real heat behind his words. He uses the cookie pan, a cookie, a tube of frosting, an oven mitt, and even a spatula to block him.

Gunwook just laughs as he finally traps Gyuvin between his much larger frame and the balcony connected to the kitchen.

“Okay, okay, I give up.” Gyuvin laughs as he holds his hands up in defeat. “Put it on.” He says as he puckers his lips for Gunwook to smear the frosting across them.

“There, now we match, hyung.” “Not yet,” Gyuvin says and pulls Gunwook closer before he plants his lips right onto his.

A soft gasp leaves Gunwook’s mouth but he kisses back nonetheless. He holds Gyuvin’s face with both of his large hands while Gyuvin wraps his arms around his neck and deepens the kiss just a little.

Pulling away with a small pant, Gunwook smiles at Gyuvin. “I guess I just secured my next Valentine's date too?” “Every year, Gunwook.”
