You're Mine, and Mine Alone

Summary:

You would think the wedding between Jin Kamurai and the honour student would be amazing and grand, an event worthy for the entire Academy to celebrate. But of course, nothing goes to plan when Tohma Ishibashi decided to make some slight adjustments.

Notes:

Happy Valentine's Day!! I have so many WIPs to work on, yet I decided to write this TD fanfic first (which was probably a bad idea). At least it's finished now.
I hope you enjoy!!

Work Text:

The sun shone down on Darkwick Academy, the wind blowing lightly and the atmosphere tranquil: this was the perfect weather for a wedding. Tohma walked down one of the hallways in his smart attire, adjusting his blazer and tie out of annoyance. The silence in the corridor was deafening as everyone was outside preparing for the grand ceremony; the lone man could only watch the confetti, balloons, and wisteria petals dance in the air. He cursed the anomalies, believing they were trying their hardest to piss him off. Most, if not all, people would say this was a joyous occasion, a day to be celebrated. But for Tohma, it was a different case.

‘What a horrible day,’ he muttered under his breath, pinching his nose bridge. That damned honour student arrived here three months ago, yet they’ve already captured Jin’s attention and love. As the vice-captain of Frostheim, he had to take care of Jin’s requests, especially when it concerned his marriage. Marriage. Of all things!

There were still a few hours left until the start of the ceremony, and Tohma used this time to wonder about, to avoid the cheering crowd of students stationed outside. He wanted to do something, anything, to stop this wedding from happening. He continued to walk down the hallway, pulling his eyes away from the beautiful wedding venue. As he turned the corner, he bumped into the one person he didn’t want to meet.

‘Ah, honour student. What are you doing here?’ he asked in a cool tone and showed his usual smile, but in reality he felt disgusted and irritated. It seemed like his luck was just getting worse. If this was Jin he bumped into, he would try to persuade him about the marriage. But with the honour student, it was like talking to a wall, with every piece of information going in one ear and out the other.

‘I wanted some fresh air… it’s suffocating and lonely in that room,’ they muttered and refused to meet Tohma’s eyes. He couldn’t help but sigh with displeasure, placing his hands on his hips to watch the honour student closely with narrowed eyes.

‘Did you forget how dangerous it is for you to walk around alone like this? Especially on your special day?’ Tohma stepped closer to them, leaning in towards their ear to whisper, ‘or are you waiting to be killed by Jin’s admirers?’

He watched as the honour student turned pale, their eyes darting about with terror and growing desperation; instilling fear like this was perhaps a good choice, it could scare them off and rethink the whole occasion. Tohma bowed, hiding the mocking smile on his face. It was all so sudden, but the seed of doubt was planted. It was time to move on to the next step.

‘Honour student, how about I bring you back to your room? I can protect you from those admirers,’ Tohma suggested as he held a hand out to help the honour student. Receiving a nod as a reply, he guided them back to their temporary dressing room; he opened the door and quietly locked it behind them, moving the honour student to the sofa and discreetly scanning the room. The room was plain with barely any furniture and colour; there was even dust collecting on the floor. At the sight of the honour student's mistreatment, Tohma had to bite his lip to stop himself from laughing; even if they were marrying Jin, the other students didn’t seem to approve of this occasion, evidently shown from their bland dressing room, and lack of assistants.

‘Thank you for bringing me back, Tohma. I would probably be dead by now…’ the honour student thanked the Frostheim vice-captain and slouched on the sofa, glancing up at the ceiling with tiredness. ‘Tohma… do you think Jin proposed to me because he actually loves me?’

Tohma froze at the unexpected question and cleared his throat, before putting a hand into his pocket. After a moment, he rolled his eyes and turned around, staring at the slouching body with a dangerous look.

‘Whether he loves you or not, I’m not sure. Why don’t you ask him yourself? He’s an honest man.’

He didn’t want to admit how much Jin loved the honour student with his own mouth; he would rather get tortured then thrown into a pit of anomalies than admit the damned truth. Hearing the small hum of acknowledgement, his irritation only rose. Quietly summoning his battle axe, the vice-captain stretched his arms and made his way towards the honour student: they had their eyes closed and didn’t hear the weapon materialising.

Tohma stood over them with cold eyes and a sinister smile on his face. In one smooth motion, the battle axe swung down and a thump was heard. An eruption of red painted the room, staining the surfaces. The vice-captain moved a hand to massage his neck as he cracked it, before smearing the blood that landed on his cheeks. Smiling with exhilaration and swinging the weapon over a shoulder, Tohma admired the bloody scene laid out before him; the body slowly slid off the sofa and flopped to the ground like an abandoned rag doll, with its missing head under the dressing table. Blood pooled sweetly where the bone was exposed and reached the soles of the vice-captain's shoes; he burst into maniacal laughter, enjoying the thrill of finally murdering the honour student. This was something he wanted to do ever since they entered Frostheim and met his man.

It felt electrifying.

It felt right.

It felt... perfect.

Tohma threw his battle axe away where it dissolved into fine dust. He glanced dismissively at the body and sighed; he didn’t really want to clean up the mess but he also didn’t want the others to know what happened here. He fell deep in thoughts, his monocle glinting and the chain swaying from the movement. With a jolt and a sigh, Tohma moved from where he was standing to kneel beside the body.

‘If Jin loves them so much, then I will give him something he will never forget.’

A figure in a white suit stood by the giant windows where the wisteria flowers hung from the arch and swayed in the breeze; he pulled the translucent curtains, letting more rays of sunshine through. He held a beautiful bouquet of purple and pink roses, white lilies, and baby’s breath as he glanced down the aisle towards the entrance. He asked Tohma to guide the honour student and walk them down since no one seemed to be up for the task, however he recalled his vice-captain looking dazed and lost in thought. Jin swore under his breath and faced the entrance, hoping he would see the two familiar faces pop up.

‘Tohma, where the fuck are you?’

He waited for five minutes. Then ten. Impatience soon embraced him with its arms. What was it that Tohma said a few weeks back?

‘I’ll be responsible for the honour student. So don’t worry, Jin. Leave them to me.’

So where was the bastard when you needed him?

As if right on cue, there was a loud commotion outside as the students gasped and shrieked, making way for someone pushing through the crowd. It was the man Jin needed to see, but why was Tohma alone? Why was he covered in paint? Where was his bride-to-be? Without a word, the vice-captain slammed the doors shut, trapping them both inside the building and leaving the other students to question the situation. He was chucking and catching something with his right hand, the item glinting as it connected with the beams of light.

‘What’s the meaning of this, Tohma?’ Jin took a few steps forwards, confronting him as he placed the bouquet on a nearby aisle bench. He didn’t receive a reply, only a tilt of the head and a small smirk. Jin opened his mouth to repeat his question, but Tohma interrupted.

‘You love the honour student, right? I promised I’d walk them down. And I can’t simply ignore my captain’s words.’

He threw the small item towards Jin, who caught it nonchalantly. He opened his palm and saw a strange white ring, with a tinge of yellow and red; there was a crystal roughly embedded into the jagged surface, the gem wet with a sticky liquid. Jin blinked at the item and stared back at Tohma.

‘What is this?’

‘Your future wife. The love of your life. That’s what it is. Don’t tell me you don’t recognise them.’

Jin didn’t say anything. He didn’t move a muscle. A sense of realisation soon dawned on him. The red on Tohma’s clothes, the strange feeling he felt when watching the distracted man, the time it took him to arrive here. Jin drew his sword and pointed it at his vice-captain.

‘Tohma Ishibashi. What have you done?!’

The perpetrator chuckled darkly, shaking his head with disbelief.

‘You trust me too much, my beloved. Did you really think I would let you, my destiny, marry a peasant?’

There was a harsh sound as the battle axe was summoned, its blade denting the ground as it fell. Jin heart shook at the discovery.

‘Why did you-’

'They were beautiful materials, you know. Their bones, flesh, and blood.'

‘You-’

‘You must have realised something by now, right?'

‘Fucker.’

‘About how much I love you, how much I desire you.’

‘Shut up-’

‘How much I want to confine you.’

Silence...

Jin narrowed his eyes and gripped his sword tighter, feeling the atmosphere shift. The Frostheim vice-captain approached him at a leisurely pace, his weapon dragging against the ground.

‘Answer me, my beloved. Do you think you can win this fight? This game?’

Tohma sweetly drawled, his smile growing wider with each stride.

‘Do you think you can control me?’

He swung the axe in an arc, pointing it against Jin’s trembling sword. Tohma grinned maniacally.

‘Happy wedding day, my husband.’
