Work Text:
Ah, Valentines day. A day of platonic, self and, most importantly, romantic love.
Roman loved every single aspect of the holiday, How could he not? He was the most romantic side in the mindscape! Though, making gifts for everyone seemed to be a harder task than he thought. Patton was the only side that was easy to please, Roman had made him a simple teddy bear with a heart and some chocolate chip cookies which were sitting wrapped up on his bed right now.
But the others were a different story. Virgil didn't like big grand gestures, an impossible feat for Roman, as he desperately wanted to show just how big his appreciation for the anxious side was, their relationship had improved significantly over the years for the better, he thought Virgil deserved more than just a simple card.
Logan didn't like gifts that weren't practical, and didn't really care for sweets. And Roman didn't want to write another screenplay for him, he wanted to do something different this time, though of course he was unsure what to do for him.
Janus? Ha. Roman didn't want to make HIM of all sides anything. Besides he had no idea what Janus actually liked, though he could just make him valentines day socks? Roman wrote the idea down.
Remus? Roman frowned at the thought, he had a very big idea on what Remus liked, of course he did. For one, Remus was pretty open about what he liked, and the fact that they were brothers. But still, Roman had no idea what he could possibly get Remus without breaking any laws or morals. (Did they have laws in the mindscape? And if he did go against his morals, would that hurt Patton somehow?) Roman shook his head aggressively and sighed.
'Creative block'. Of course. There was too many options! Too little options, so many things he wanted to do, so many things he couldn't do. He turned to the teddy bear he made for Patton and stared at it, as if it could just tell him what he should do.
How does one defeat the evil, sinister entity that was creative block?
Roman got up and grabbed his notebook, which he had been writing down his ideas for valentines gifts, he set out for Logan's room. Logan had a plan for absolutely everything, it was his job as Logic after all, and who better to turn to with his dilemma? Besides, taking a look into Logan's room might help him get an idea on what to make him.
"Roman?" Logan frowned, his hair slightly disheveled, he looked like he hadn't gotten any sleep. Roman wondered why, usually Logan was the one that begged HIM to sleep, he tried his best not to focus on the unicorn onesie the logical side adorned.
"Hello there, Square-Head, I have a question!"
"Square-Head…?" Logan raised an eyebrow, Roman nodded and pushed into his room with elegance and grace. Logan stumbled back slightly and sighed with annoyance clear in his tone of voice. "Come right in. What is it you need?"
Roman started to look around the room for anything of significance that he could take for inspiration, he did write something about unicorns while he searched, maybe he could make a diagram of some sort? Or a diorama?? Roman smiled widely, YES!! INSPIRATION! He chuckled then turned back to Logan. "I was wondering, how do we take down creative block?" Logan gave him a concerned look and crossed his arms.
"Well, usually one would take a break. Engage in physical activity, change their environment and such. Engage in some sort of activity that would help stimulate creativity. Why do you ask? Are you alright?"
Roman smiled softly and nodded, this is why Logan deserved something more. No matter what happened, Logan always expressed concern for them and made sure they were well. Roman assumed it was because if they weren't okay, they would all fall apart, well maybe he used to think that. He was starting to think it was because he simply cared for everyone, he definitely did. Maybe it was hard to see because Patton cared so openly and strongly, and Logan wasn't so obvious.
"I'm alright, no need to fret! I'm just in a bit of a stump."
"You're usually at your peak at this time. If you do have anything to speak about, Patton is the best to talk about. Though, I am willing to listen if you cannot reach him or believe I am best for the conversation." Logan sighed and adjusted his glasses, Roman nodded, there wasn't many things in Logan's room that he could go off of, Logan had the neatest room of course. Anything sentimental would be in a secure space.
Then he saw it. A realistic model of the human heart, he stared at it. It was perfect! Though, not for Logan. He quickly wrote his idea down, waved Logan goodbye then walked out of the room. Success at last! Take that Creative Block! So, what now? Should he go back to his own room and sit down making no progress whatsoever? Roman shook his head, no! If going to Logan's room helped him find the perfect gift, then maybe that was the key, Logan did say something about a 'change of scenery'.
But who next? Virgil's room was a risk, he frowned at the memory, he knew he could last a few minutes there, but he wanted to actually explore! How was he supposed to do that while on a time limit? Janus' room? Roman sighed, not ideal, for different reasons. He walked out to the living room to sit on the couch as he thought. Remus' room was never a place he wanted to visit, going to Patton might be useless, he already had Patton's gift. Roman threw his head back and groaned.
"Mood." Roman jumped a bit and smiled at the familiar voice, he turned his head to see Virgil sitting beside him. Brilliant! No time limit required! Though, this was a little harder.
"Virgil! My favorite purple menace. How are you feeling?"
"Like shit. You?" Virgil smiled, Roman nodded in agreement, he could get him some sort of necklace? Did Virgil like necklaces? Maybe a gothic literature novel? Virgil would definitely like that.
"I'm hitting a stump, I'm afraid." Roman admitted, he couldn't lie to him.
"Damn. Creative block huh? What is it this time?"
"That, my friend, I cannot tell you."
Virgil frowned and nodded, turning his attention to the TV. And suddenly, silence. Comfortable silence, but still, silence. Roman stared at Virgil, should he just tell him? Maybe he should just ask about Janus? They did spend time together, once at least. Would that be a touchy subject though?
"Dude." Roman snapped out of it, Virgil had turned to him. "Are you okay? I can feel you worrying about something. Which is..so weird." Roman chuckled and nodded. Yeah, he should ask. Virgil wouldn't hesitate to express it if it was a touchy subject.
"I'm fine. I'm just wondering, do you know what Janus likes?" Roman tried not to wince at Virgil's grimace.
"I guess..why?"
"Why do you think? Valentines! Edward Sullen."
Virgil flicked him in the forehead. "One, never reference Twilight again." Roman opened his mouth to protest, but was swiftly cut off. "Two, dude. Why even bother? You don't like him."
Roman sighed. "I don't. But, I feel like it would be unfair to leave him out if I'm also giving Remus something." Virgil slowly nodded.
"Alright. Whatever you say. What about socks?"
"I did that at Christmas!"
"You can do the same thing. He won't care."
"Well yes, but still! I want to do something more!" Roman threw his hands up to emphasize his words, smiling widely. Virgil stared at him for a moment before laughing and shaking his head.
"Of course you do. You've always been extra."
"Exactly!" Roman was proud of it.
"Okay. Well, uh, you could make him a scarf and a beanie? To match his socks. Maybe even a hot water bottle, or something." Virgil shrugged. Roman gasped, yes! That was it! He quickly wrote it down. Amazing! Now only two gifts left! This was easy after all.
"Thank you Virgil! You're my savior!" Roman jumped up off of the couch, Virgil looked scandalized for a second then sighed.
"Don't put me on a pedestal. But thank you. Glad I could help." Virgil gave him a smile. Roman nodded and waved to him before continuing to walk, he decided to go back to his room. He was sure he could find Virgil and Logan's gift somehow without the help of anyone else, with how well he was doing, his creative block was sure to be gone as soon as it came!
Boy was he wrong. He was lying down, in the middle of his floor, scrunched up papers everywhere. He thought this would be easy? He thought he knew Virgil enough to figure out the perfect gift for him, and Logan? All he could think of was crofters. Logan would absolutely love that, but still, Logan deserved more than a jar of his favorite fruit spread. The unicorn diorama was still a great idea, his stomach started to hurt slightly. How could this happen?? He thought he defeated the evil beast that was stopping his inspiration from flowing through? Suddenly, he felt himself get pulled through the floor, suddenly appearing in a warm room which smelt of old books and apple.
"Roman, lovely to see you here, didn't know you'd be popping in for a visit." Roman felt a shiver run through his entire body, he stood up and brushed himself off, glaring at Janus.
"You didn't have to pull me through the floor!"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, anyways! Let us talk, shall we? I hear you're having some troubles." Janus smirked, his tone lighthearted. How in the world…
"..Did you eavesdrop on my conversation with Virgil?"
Janus' smirk dropped and color suddenly appeared on the human side of his face. "..Not a word." That made Roman giggle, he felt weird about knowing he was being watched, but it felt sweet in a weird way.
"Well then. No use lying to you. Yes, I'm experiencing creative block. I'm really not sure you of all people would be able to assist so, I'll just head off."
"I assure you, I can help. Well, at least with Virgil's gift." Janus sighed, frowning. Woah, that was a quick change of atmosphere, the room suddenly grew slightly colder. Janus continued, "A weighted blanket." Huh?
"A weighted blanket?"
"Yes. Make it match his current hoodie. I promise you, he'll love it." Janus stared off into the distance, Roman frowned. This felt..personal.
"..Why weighted though?" Janus grimaced at the question and sighed.
"Virgil used to get night terrors. I'm not sure if he still gets them, but it may help him sleep. We used to have one, but Remus ripped it up while they were playing. Beads went everywhere, it was chaos." The room suddenly grew slightly warmer as Janus smiled slightly. Roman stared, he didn't want to trust Janus. He didn't want to follow through with his idea even if it was true. But, that face, it looked so sad? A hint of longing in his eyes, maybe he missed Virgil? He wondered just what their relationship was like before Virgil joined him, Logan and Patton. From what he heard, and what he was seeing in front of him, he guessed they were close.
He should do this, Janus was a pain in his very nice ass, but he would be willing to put that aside to give Virgil a gift that could potentially help him, even if that gave his enemy(?) closure. Roman nodded. "Of course, thank you for the idea. I'll try my best." Janus smiled more, the room going back to its earlier temperature. "Thank you." Roman gave him a small smile then sunk out to his room, as he didn't know the route from Janus' room back to his own enough to go by foot.
Remus was eating his makeup. "Heya bro!" Roman stared at him, unamused, he did this twice a week. He wrote down the weighted blanket for Virgil quickly, before he forgot while arguing with Remus, he set his book down.
"Hello Remus. Must you eat my good lipstick?"
"It tastes better than the others! Sue me."
"I wish I could."
Remus cackled then dropped the makeup, bouncing over to stand closer to Roman. "How's the annual mushy shit doing?"
"It's fine, thank you so much for asking."
"No problem! Now, if you need any inspo, I have some ideas-"
"No. Whatever you're going to suggest, it's a no."
"Oh come oooonnn! Roman! Pleease!"
"I've already figured out most of the gifts! I don't need any more suggestions."
Remus pouted then smirked. "Did you get Virgey's yet?" Roman nodded, Remus pouted again. "Damn. I had a great idea for him too."
"Papsy?"
"Yep."
"Logie bear?"
"I…have an idea."
"YOU HAVEN'T?!" Remus smiled a wicked smile, Roman winced, getting a vague idea on what was going on in that twisted mind of his. "Let me help! Please! Romaaan!"
"Why do you want to show appreciation for Logan? He's basically your repellant."
"I don't! But I wanna piss him off! He's so hot when he's mad, I want him to pu-" Remus licked his lips, Roman quickly punched him.
"I do NOT need to hear that shut up! Ew- Oh my god?? Never." Roman felt like he was about to puke, he didn't want to hear any more of that. Though, he couldn't deny the fact that Logan did look quite..Nope. Focus Roman. "You aren't allowed."
"You can't tell me who to do!" Remus crossed his arms, Roman sighed.
"I can't, but please don't tell me about it."
"Damn, I can't simp in front of you, got it. But, just to put it out there, I would definitely impregnate him given the chance."
"You're both men?"
"I won't let that stop me."
Roman took a deep breath and groaned, rubbing his face, Remus smirking at him. He wanted so badly to punch him again. Maybe he could give Logan little coupons to use Remus as a punching bag to let out all of that pent up frustration? No. Remus would enjoy that way too much.
"But seriously, he likes nerdy stuff. It shouldn't be that hard."
"Well it is! I'm not sure what to do. What if he doesn't like what I give him?"
"Am I talking to Roman or Virgin right now-" Roman glared at Remus.
"I'm being serious."
"So am I! It's really not that deep. Why do you care so much about what some nerd thinks? What, you got a crush on him? Stealing him from me?" Roman stared at Remus blankly. He did not. Or maybe..he did? Did he? He did want to impress him with his gift, he wanted to make Logan react the way he did to Virgil's gift. And he did get a burst of energy whenever the logical side was in the same room as him- Oh dear.
Remus smirked at him again. "Oooooh you're so red!" Roman's cheeks felt hot. Well, this was just great, perfect. Roman groaned and covered his face, Remus patted Roman's head. "Don't worry! I wasn't serious about him being mine, he's all yours."
"That's not the problem Remus." Roman mumbled, dropping his hands as Remus laughed, continuing his attempt at comfort.
"You guys are gonna have the ugliest babies."
"He can't get pregnant, Remus."
"Don't let that stop you, Roman."
"Why are we having this conversation again?!" Roman shouted a bit too loudly. Seriously. Why didn't he just kick his brother out? Maybe then he wouldn't be having this predicament right now. Maybe he wouldn't be panicking even more about getting this gift right. Because if he has a crush on Logan, he should try to do something romantic right? Or, was it too soon? He literally found out one minute ago. How soon was too soon to act on a crush? Now that he thought about it, he had been feeling an extra amount of appreciation towards Logan for a long time now..how long has he had an unknown crush on Logan? Why did it take one mention of the concept to make him realize? Why was he panicking about this? He should be thrilled! Finally he can express romantic love that isn't through Thomas! How would a relationship between him and Logan affect Thomas..
Suddenly, a knock on the door. He hoped it was Virgil, or Patton, anyone but…
"Roman, are you alright? I heard shouting?" Logan. Remus snickered and nudged Roman, wiggling his eyebrows and sinking out of his room. Roman glared at the spot where Remus was and walked up to the door, putting on his best smile and throwing it open.
"Logan! Hello, what? No, I'm fine." Not his best work, Logan didn't look like he believed him one bit, he crossed his arms just like before. Had it always been cute? The way he looked at him with concern?
"You're not fine. I heard shouting. Are you still having issues?" Logan frowned. Roman stared at his lips. Oh yeah, definitely still having issues.
"I am. I'll have to talk to Patton. Right now." Roman spoke quickly, Logan slowly nodded with what looked like disappointment in his eyes, though, Logan was somewhat hard to read, it could easily be something else, Don't get your hopes up Roman.
"Alright, well, do come to me after you speak to him, just so I know for sure that you're alright."
Stop saying things like that. Roman smiled and slowly nodded, as soon as Logan left his doorway he BOLTED to Patton's room.
"Oh hey Kiddo! What brings you he-"
"I HAVE A CRUSH ON LOGAN."
Silence.
Patton gasped and smiles widely, squealing like a boiled kettle. "You do?! Oh this is amazing!"
"Is it though?" Roman rushed into the room as Patton stepped aside to let him in, Roman started pacing. "What if he doesn't like me back? What if I come on too strong? What if I give him a gift that he doesn't like? What if he DOES like me back?"
"Roman-"
"I mean, I only found out a few minutes ago! What if it's just a deep, deep, deep appreciation? I can't just decide right away that I love him!"
"Ro-"
"And what about Thomas?! Would he be able to feel it somehow? What if I get him pregnant?!"
"Pregnant…?"
Fuck. "Ignore that, I was hanging out with Remus." Before Roman could continue, he felt something pull at his sash, he turned around. Oh, Virgil was here.
"When did you get here?"
"You summoned me with all your worrying. You didn't notice because you were too busy talking to yourself. Patton caught me up." Virgil shrugged. Oh, great, Virgil knew now. That's what, three sides out of five? Unless Janus secretly knew and didn't want to bring it up. It did feel like a personal moment when they were talking to each other.
Roman dropped down to the floor. "Sorry." Virgil and Patton shared a look.
"You have nothing to apologize for. Don't worry about it."
"Yeah! Oooh! We can work together to help you make Lo's gift! Who better than the dynamicest duo to help you out!" Patton sat down next to Roman with a big smile, Virgil laughed and joined them on the floor.
"Right. We're here for you man."
"On the floor." Roman sighed.
"Yep. Here for you, on the floor. Best place to be really."
"You could say we help 'ground' you!" Patton giggled at his own joke, Roman and Virgil groaned playfully.
Roman loved his friends, all of them.
"How would you like to start Ro? Fun, mushy gushy lovey dovey muck? Or your deepest fears." Patton attempted an evil laugh as they watched Roman, he contemplated his answer, they decided to talk about his crush first. Roman described how he found out in great detail, and tried to best describe his feelings before he found out.
"…You're telling me Remus, of all sides, made you realize?"
"Yep."
"Wow."
"It feels too soon to call it a crush though!"
Patton frowned. "But you said you've been feeling like this for a while?"
"A deep, deep, deeeep appreciation for him, yes."
"That's a straight way of saying you've always felt love for him."
"It is?!" Roman looked horrified, Virgil nodded. Roman huffed and rubbed his face. "I'm in love with him."
"You're in love with him."
"You're in LOVE with him!" Patton cheered. Damned ball of sunshine, Roman appreciated it so much, the anxiety made him feel queasy. Jesus, did Virgil always feel this way?? Roman sighed.
"Yeah. I don't know what to do..will a relationship with him affect Thomas? Should I make his gift more romantic?" Virgil shook his head.
"He's allergic to feelings. And it might be more special if you trust your heart? Or some cheesy stuff like that." Roman slowly nodded, Okay. But his heart was all over the place, how could he trust his heart if all it could do was race and jump around in his chest?
Patton gasped. "A puzzle! You should make him a puzzle! He loves puzzles!"
"He makes me create a puzzle for him weekly. I think he needs a change of pace." Virgil chuckled. That was true. Roman got his notebook out and opened it up to where he was writing notes on Logan, so far, all he had was the unicorn diorama and a jar of crofters. Then he got an idea..
"Pie."
"What?"
"PIE!!"
Virgil and Patton shared a surprised look then looked back at Roman, sitting silently, waiting for him to continue, Roman smiled widely, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He jumped up.
"A pie! Filled with his own flavor of Crofters, with unicorns around the crust with the numbers of Pi in between them!" Roman bounced in the spot, Logan would like that. Maybe he would love it.
"Oooh! You could put a small love confession in there! Maybe in the middle!" Patton clapped. Roman stared at him then looked down to his notebook, he nodded and smiled in determination, sitting back down and beginning to sketch out his design.
Finally, he had everyone's gifts planned out. Now, it was time to initiate. He would get help from Virgil and Patton to bake the pie, (Virgil and Roman got into a fight with a flour, it went everywhere. They had to let Patton take over filling the pie as they cleaned up their mess.) He would borrow Logan's heart model (And hopefully take Logan's heart ;) ), He had the materials for the blanket and the beanie/scarf.
After a few long, hardworking hours, he had everything finished, laying on his bed. The pie was sitting in a special black box he had made with a sparkly blue ribbon that matched Logan's tie, the weighted blanket almost matched Virgil's hoodie completely and had been carefully folded next to Janus' beanie and scarf, Remus' plushie of a realistic heart was staring at him. Roman had tried his best to make it accurate to the model, and had decided to add a small smiley face to make it look less…uncomfortable to look at.
Roman wanted to give Logan's gift last, and he wanted to make his visit to Remus as short as possible. He picked up the plushie and sunk down to Remus' room, gagging at the smell of…well he couldn't describe it without gagging even more. "ROMAN!" Remus shouted from above him, Roman quickly stepped back as Remus dropped down from the ceiling.
"What do you need? Condoms? A knife? Torture methods? Is Logan into those-"
"No! Shush. I'm here to drop off your valentines gift." Roman sighed, Remus looked surprised for a moment then grinned wickedly.
"Gimme! Gimme!" Remus reached out, Roman handed him the heart plushie, Remus gasped and stared at it, silence, for a moment, there was finally silence. And then, Roman was promptly tackled to the ground. "Thank you bro!" Roman smiled slightly and patted Remus on the back in acknowledgement.
Well, while he was in the dark side. He may as well give Janus his gift. Remus helped guide him to Janus' room after Roman grabbed the gifts from his bed, he was greeted by that apple smell again. He hated to admit that it was kind of nice. "Ah, Roman. What horrid luck I have." Janus snickered from the corner of his room, walking up to Roman, for a second, he wanted to just burn the gifts and not bother with him. But..
Roman sighed and handed him the gifts. "Here. Happy Valentines." Janus' eyes widened with surprise, carefully taking the gifts from him, he carefully put the scarf and beanie on, testing them out.
"I..they're nice. Thank you." Janus spoke quietly, fiddling with the scarf.
"No problem, you should thank Virgil too. He gave me the idea." Roman didn't know if Virgil wanted Janus to thank him, but he thought it would be good to mention it. Janus flushed and pulled his scarf tight, causing him to make a small choking like sound.
"Oh! He did? Oh. Okay. Good to know. I'll thank him." Janus fixed the scarf, clearing his throat, Roman tilted his head slightly, what in the world was that? Roman's eyes widened, oh. Well that..was a surprising revelation. Roman smiled widely. Janus shot a glare at him, Roman just nodded and bowed, saying his goodbyes as he sunk out of the room.
As soon as he got to his own room, Roman grabbed the weighted blanket and walked to Virgil's room. He stared at the blanket in thought, should he mention that Janus helped him with the idea? It would either help Janus out, or make Virgil burn the blanket, he really hoped he didn't burn it, this was the hardest gift to make honestly. Roman arrived at the black door with small lines of grey and purple and knocked with his significant rhythm.
Virgil opened the door and smiled a little, stepping out of his own room and closing the door behind himself. "Hey Roman, did you uh..do it yet?" Roman thought for a moment on what he could possibly mean, when he realized, he promptly shook his head.
"Nope! I'm just here to drop off my valentines gift to you!" Virgil sighed and rolled his eyes.
"You didn't have to make me anything. But thanks." Virgil held his hands out for the gift and stared when Roman dropped the weighted blanket into his arms. "..A weighted blanket?" Virgil frowned for a moment then smiled slightly before looking back up at Roman.
"Thanks. I was uh..looking for another one of these."
Roman nodded. "Yeah.." Janus had helped him. The least he could do is help him back. "Janus gave me the idea. He said you used to have night terrors or something?" Virgil's smile dropped. Oh, oh no. Virgil looked back down at the blanket, he looked lost, as if he was contemplating something.
"Don't burn it. I worked too hard on that." Roman felt the need to point it out. Virgil jumped and shook his head.
"No, I won't. I like it, really! I just..didn't think Janus remembered stuff like that." Virgil held the blanket closer to his chest. "..Thanks. Uh, I guess I'll have to thank Janus too.. or something." Roman nodded.
"..I might have a bit of time to myself first though. I need some time to..think." Virgil muttered.
"Oh, yeah. No, that's fine! Take your time. Happy Valentines!"
"..Happy Valentines." Virgil went back into his room. Roman wondered how he actually felt about it, how he felt about Janus. Virgil was never exactly open about that part of his past, but Janus made it sound like they were a close group of friends, what..happened? No! Roman, this is Valentines day! Virgil could talk about it whenever he felt comfortable, right now, you need to focus on delivering the last two presents!
Roman nodded to himself, went to his room and collected the teddy bear before walking off to Patton's room. He started to feel a little bad, as he hadn't exactly thought of Patton's gift as much as he thought of everyone else's. Patton also deserved more! Roman hummed then summoned some light orange flowers before knocking on Patton's door.
"Roman! Hello! Did you give your gift to Logan yet? Did he love it? I bet he loved it!" Patton squealed as soon as he opened the door to Roman standing in front of him. Roman smiled and shook his head, Patton frowned a little then spotted the gifts and clapped.
"Ohh Roman! These are so pretty!" Patton happily took the gifts, bouncing.
"I thought you deserved more than just flowers." Roman laughed to himself, Patton stopped bouncing and smiled.
"Roman, you know I'd love whatever you give me. As long as you put your love into it, which you do with everything you make! I'm sure the others feel the same way." Patton quickly dove into his room to put the gifts on the table so he could hug Roman. Roman sighed happily and leaned into the hug, he nodded.
"I'll keep that in mind."
"Good, now go to your second most handsome prince!" Patton giggled.
Roman nodded and went back to his room, he started to feel slightly nervous, or excited? He wasn't really sure. He had heard Logan talk about how they were the same feeling once. Oh Logan, he hoped he would enjoy his gift. Roman gently picked the box up from his bed and walked towards Logan's room, taking deep breaths and putting on his bravest face. This was it.
A knock echoed through the hall, Logan opened the door. "Oh, Roman. Hello, I'm assuming everything has been sorted?" Roman nodded and pushed the box towards Logan, who looked at it, confused. "What..what is this?"
"Your valentines gift! From yours truly, I hope you enjoy!" Roman smiled widely as Logan took the box from it, he watched how gently he took the ribbon off of the box, he watched him open it, he watched his eyes widen when he looked at the pie. "Uhm, it has Logansberry Crofters in it." Roman needed to fill the silence somehow.
He had carved a heart in the middle with the letters I and U on either side, he had made the heart too large, so he didn't have room to fully spell out 'you'. "..You..misspelt-"
"I know."
Logan nodded, staring blankly at the pie, his lack of response started to cause Roman to lose hope. "One second." With robotic movements, Logan walked into his own room and shut the door behind him. All Roman could hear was shuffling from the other room, the door opened to Logan holding a small bag. "I made this..for you. I tried my best. I'm not exactly the most creative side." Logan mumbled. Roman gently took the bag from him and opened it carefully, feeling a little confused.
It was beautiful. It was a charm of a red rose, glittering, the metal felt cold on his skin, he blushed a little. "I'm sorry, it isn't a grand gesture. I know you prefer those, I didn't know what else to do."
"No! It's fine! I love it! It's gorgeous." Roman held the charm to his chest. "Thank you, Logan. I appreciate you." He should accept it. He felt a bit foolish, of course he wouldn't love him back. Roman turned around to leave-
"I love you too."
Huh-
Roman stopped and turned back to Logan. "You- You do?" Roman's hopes came back FULL SWING hearing that.
"Yes. I didn't know what this…feeling, was at first. But I analyzed my symptoms. Roman, you make my hands clammy, you make my heart race, you make me want to be with you at all times, I enjoy my time with you, you make my stomach flutter, and I've ruled out indigestion. I think about you way too often." Logan ranted, getting out his own notebook, did..did he actually make a list? Roman laughed a bit. Logan smiled at him.
They stared at each other, in comfortable silence.
"So, what should we do now? Spend the rest of the day together?"
"We could kiss?" Roman joked, Logan's face immediately turned red.
"I'd rather we wait- To um..to do that. If that's alright. I'm not really ready for kissing, on the lips, at least. that feels a bit too much right now."
Roman nodded. Logan wasn't allergic to feelings, he just didn't understand him. And he would gladly help him. Anything to be with him.
"Dinner together then? Just the two of us?" Roman proposed, Logan nodded quickly.
"Excellent. I'll be ready at 6 sharp. Meet me here."
"Yes sir." Roman laughed, they said their goodbyes and Roman set off to his room again. This, all of this, was the best Valentines day he had ever experienced, nothing could ever compare to this.
When he came back to his room, he found his bed covered in gifts, he hummed in confusion and walked up to it, smiling when he saw the cards attached to the gifts. It seemed the others wanted to repay him. He carefully opened each gift, appreciating them and laughing at some of the things his friends had written in the cards.
Valentines day was truly the superior holiday, apart from Christmas, at least in Roman's opinion.
