The crowd is chanting something, he's sure. He just can't hear it over the ringing in his ears as Roy remains on his back on the pitch.
Jamie's heard of coma patients coming to a brief consciousness before never waking again. He can't help but imagine the tackle in the same manner for Roy's tenure at Richmond.
Every moment near Roy Kent has been surreal. Transforming from a low quality blur on the telly and the poster across from his bed to fighting in the locker room.
To facing him on the pitch.
To being tackled.
Jamie knows he's staring.

help I've fallen into a ted lasso hyperfixation and I can't get out, no I can't believe my first fic in two years is about footballers either. also my first drabble! mostly struggling to flex my fic writing muscles tbh
why do I have so much random medical knowledge and why do I never use it in a normal manner (coma patients waking up before they die is known as terminal lucidity, end of life rallying, or the surge. yes this was also a plot point in grey's anatomy)
