Work Text:
It’s always a dance.
Princess of Flame.
Knight of the Wind.
Eternally apart, countless worlds away.
Intertwining only when necessitated by strife.
And then, they clash.
Not against each other, but together as one. A whirlwind, impossible to follow. Two comets that dazzle the mind and confuse the eye, both luxuriating in the company of
Someone
Who
Gets it.
That feeling of passing everyone by whether they like it or not
Of a life in motion in a billion different directions
Of never truly being able to stop no matter how hard they try.
Don’t get them wrong, the princess cares deeply for her people, and the knight adores his comrades like no other.
But there’s just something different when it’s only them.
An elemental connection.
Indefinable.
Undeniable.
Creating a storm under the glittering stars as they dance in every pattern imaginable.
For just a moment they feel so much less alone.
For just a moment they feel seen completely.
For just a moment they don’t have to care.
For just a moment, the impassive princess can leave her duties behind.
For just a moment, the wandering knight can come home.
And together, they are unstoppable.
Two brilliant lights that banish the darkness from the world and each other’s heart.
Two complimentary styles that dance through battlegrounds and each other’s mind.
Two scintillating storms that resonate across spacetime and each other’s soul.
Even those that would stand against them can only watch in awe as the princess and her knight deliver a dazzling doom down upon them.
Two souls connected only by the stars between their worlds.
Two souls that sing as they intertwine.
Two souls enthralled by each other every time they dance.
Yet every time their battles end, they part again.
Their friendship.
Their love.
Their wish.
Sealed with no more than the touch of a hand.
There’s nothing stopping them from togetherness.
Nothing to bar the refuge they find within each other.
The void between their worlds is no obstacle for the likes of them.
But he will never stay (She loves her knight’s love of his world).
And she will never leave (He loves his lady’s love for her people).
So instead of each other, they cling to the few memories they have.
Of the look in their love’s eyes.
Of the sound of their love’s name.
Of the way that their love dances across land, sea, and sky.
And hope that those will be enough.
