Work Text:
“Taco, why do you even need so much stuff?” Soap groaned at the mentioned, who was on her tippy toes to grab a nice large stack of paper. “I have a game to get back too. I was just about to beat Pickle and Bomb in Mario Kart!”
“I’m going to write a letter.” She said, matter of factly in her british voice, looking down at Soap with a raised eyebrow. She had asked the cleanly one (who, quite frankly, terrified her) for help on finding some papers.
“Why? Have another estranged friend?” The pink one remarked, making sure the shorter wouldn’t fall as a glare was shot her way.
“No, I was going to write to Microphone. Took some inspirations from Paper’s and OJ’s little spiel of writing to each other despite the fact they lived in the same room, and were already dating.”
“Kinda like you and Mic, but way more sappy.”
“Hush.” Taco mumbled as Soap gave a soft laugh, grabbing the stack from Taco’s arms.
“Sorry, sorry.” Soap shrugged with a small smile, helping the gal down who gave her a grateful nod, before carrying the stacks of paper up to her bedroom.
Once in, she grabbed a pencil to tap against the paper thinking of a good start..
“My Darling Mic-” Too formal “Dear Microphone” Not…loving enough “Dearest Mic” No, no, no! These were all bad! She let out a sigh, before getting an idea..
“To My Love, Microphone,” That was it! The right amount of formal and loving. She prided herself for this silently.
This shall be my final letter to you, and perhaps my final ever letter. I had taken inspiration from the lovebirds of the hotel and decided to write this for you.”
That was a great start she decided, now she just needed to figure out what she could lead this up with- all of her other letters were made with sorrows and pain, but this one was made from pure love. And nothing could take that away from her.
“Your beauty astounds me each time I gaze upon you, the way your lips move with each word, the way your eyes crinkle whenever something amuses you or gives you mirth, your laugh is infectious and can make the entire world smile. Each thought you have is amazing, it makes my head spin, you are so altruistic, it makes my selfish heart wilt and melt, your eyes carry a weight that pins me down and truly leaves me without air, I’m so desperate for yours, your voice is worth a thousand songs I’d trade away for you, but no song is better than your voice.”
This was turning out splendid, far better than the pitiful apologies she wrote (and later watched them burn through a window). She could only wish she could bring Mic right here, to dissect her through letters that came from her soul, and words that came from her being, to put her entire being into one simple letter. To show how the wildcard drove her cunning heart to mush, made her forget the world around them, to write how it felt when Mic had her laying next to her, had her breath against her shell before they hungrily kissed like they’d never have the chance again.
“Every time you even glance my way, I feel as if I had won Inanimate Insanity rather than anybody else. I feel as if I'm worth a million dollars worth when you say my name. I love the even meer thought of holding your hand once more, even if stares are shot our way. I know they're jealous of me, that I’m with you, that you chose me out of everyone, because everyone can see the beauty you hold and want it for themselves.”
She felt a smile over her face, she could feel the pen move without her making her do so, writing each thought she needed out.
While writing, she felt a presence behind her- not the first time, usually she would feel something like that while alone, would turn, and see nothing. She liked to muse that it was the spirit of MePad, continuing to stay by her side, she liked to imagine soft and proud eyes of his watching her as she began to live her life again, her true life.
“I love you, for most. I love you so much it makes me pained, I love you towards the point I would lay my down for you. I love you, Microphone.
Love, Taco”
As she finished, she felt arms wrap around her back, tilting her head up to meet Mic’s eyes as the other smiled warmly, looking down at the letter with soft eyes.
“Your writing is always so neat…” she murmured absentmindedly as she looked down at the blushing British gal.
“Well, I suppose I am quite neat with my writing…” she chuckled, before picking up the letter and giving it to Microphone. “H-here.. Take it.” She said quickly, looking up at Mic expectantly. She was praying to whatever being could hear her that Microphone loved it.
Of course, Mic wasn’t the fastest of readers, so the anticipation was slowly gnawing at Taco, making her work her bottom lip through her teeth. What if Microphone found it corny, or too sappy? After all, one thing they had in common was a mutual distaste for corny romcoms, and there was no blithering way she would act like one of the love interests in it!
She tapped her foot against the floor as Mic’s eyes narrowed at the letters, panicking as she trembled, feeling weak in the knees.
“Taco…I…I love it!” Mic squealed, wrapping her arms around Taco to swing her around. How out of character! She’d never seen Mic so happy like this, and suddenly all the panic inside her went into a resolve.
“Oh well…I’m happy…” Taco whispered as she let herself be swung around, before leaning in gingerly to kiss her cheek. “I love you, Microphone.”
“I love you too..”
