Percy hadn’t been planning to crash his own funeral when he finally left Calypso’s Island but that’s exactly what happened.
The shocked expressions were hilarious, and he glared at the Ares kids that booed, but they just smiled.
He finally turned to Annabeth, and it seemed like everything else just faded away.
They stared at each other for a while before he watched her face contort in rage. “How dare you! I—”
Percy didn’t particularly want to hear Annabeth berate him when all he could think of was finishing the kiss they had in Mount St. Helens. So, he did what any respectable person would do.
He kissed her.
He didn’t realize everyone else went silent in shock, all he felt was Annabeth stiffening before relaxing into the kiss and wrapping her arms around his neck. He lifted her by the waist and spun her around, never breaking off the kiss.
Eventually they split, both of them gasping for breath.
“What, what was that?”
Percy just smiled at her flustered expression, “we never got to finish.”
Annabeth smiled back and her eyes fluttered closed as she leaned in again, Percy leaned forward indulging her, but before they could kiss again a shrill voice interrupted them.
“Are you kidding me!” They both turned their heads, still connected, towards Silena who was marching right towards them.
Annabeth raised an unimpressed eyebrow, schooling her face into a passive expression, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“No idea, I, well I,” Silena spluttered, and Clarisse stepped up.
“She means when did this happen you idiots?” She said as she waved her hands between the two of them.
Annabeth laughed, a beautiful sound that Percy would never tire of hearing, “oh, before I left, I gave Percy a quick kiss, telling him that he better come back if he wants another.”
Silena looked towards Percy who nodded quickly, “yea, and Annabeth had to pay up her side of the deal.”
Silena looked between them for a second before shrieking so loud that Annabeth turned and buried her head in Percy’s shoulder which just made Silena shriek even louder.
Clarisse just shook her head, “I can’t believe this actually happened, never thought you two would actually acknowledge your feelings and get together.”
Percy snorted, “you’re one to talk Clarisse.” Clarisse shot him a playful glare and turned on her heel and stormed off. Percy just laughed and looked back to Annabeth, meeting her stormy gray eyes.
“Are you okay?”
Annabeth knew the statement referred to a lot of things, including an apology. Her eyes softened as she nodded slowly. “Just next time don’t disappear for more than a week, okay Seaweed Brain.”
His eyes sparkled as he threw his head back and laughed, “wouldn’t dream of it Wise Girl.”
She nodded seriously before stealing another kiss.
Chiron cleared his throat behind them, and she turned to face him, still leaning into Percy’s side, his arm wrapped protectively around her.
“Well, this is certainly a new development,”
“You could say that,” Dionysus interjected.
“Yes, but perhaps we should get to discussing our next moves?”
They both nodded and walked hand in hand to their imminent doom, but Annabeth couldn’t bring herself to care, because Percy kissed her.
Percy was hers.
(Take that Rachel!)
