Work Text:
It has been about two weeks since the last time they saw each other.
Surprising, but they did pass all this time separated. It was the first time in years they would be able to rest and not worry about work. They had plans with their own families, places they wanted to visit, little trips. They would only go back to the dorms to spend the last day, since they all needed to make sure everything was alright before returning to the schedules. The plan was all of them coming back the night before the last day, but Mark was out of town and could only arrive later. Even though he almost came back three days earlier when he found out Haechan fell sick, but was convinced by the younger that everything was alright. It was just a cold after all.
Although they enjoyed really well their weeks off, they couldn't help but miss each other. Being together practically 24/7 since they were kids sometimes made them forget how it was not to have one another right by their sides. Of course they texted a lot during the time they were separated, but having physical affection as their main love language made it feel like something was still missing.
The day they would finally be able to see each other was the one right before Valentine's day, February 13th. Both of them thought of it as a kind of romantic coincidence. Every year they spent the Valentine's day together. Sometimes they would just be inside in comfy clothings cuddling, cooking together, watching movies and loving one another — normally when they had schedules and decided to rest together afterwards. Some other times they would risk going to a restaurant or on a walk together showing their love discreetly, and if speculations were made they would just ignore and act like they hanging out like any other day.
Unfortunately, they couldn't do any of these this year. The 127 unit had schedules for the day and they had to take a seven hours flight to Jakarta, so the only free time they had in the morning needed to be used for preparations. Dressing up, checking if everything they needed was packed, documents in the right bags. The usual. They wouldn't even have time to rest together since they would pass almost all day in this flight. But Mark still wanted to make that day special and he certainly had something in mind.
Around ten in the morning Mark was finally back. He rushed to leave his bags in his bedroom when he arrived at the 10th floor and made all his hygiene routine, dressing up more comfortably. He had an oversized white shirt along with a dark grey hoodie matching his sweatpants. As soon as he finished everything he needed to, he searched for the little box inside his backpack, carefully putting it in the pocket of his pants. It would be a lie if he said he wasn't at least a bit tired from the travel, but he was so excited to see Hyuck and make this surprise for him that he couldn't even close his eyes for more than a second at this point.
Instead of going directly to his boyfriend, Mark decided to stop and talk to the other members, which he also missed a lot and was excited to see. He talked to Jungwoo and Yuta about what they did during the week off and gossiped a little bit too. Doyoung and Johnny were out together, so he unfortunately would still have to wait to see them. After all the conversation and laughters between the three of them, Yuta said Hyuck went to his room soon after the breakfast he had with them. The cold the youngest got wasn't completely gone yet, so the others asked him to rest a little more to make sure he would be fine for the schedules on the next day.
Mark quickly made his way to Donghyuck's room as soon as he heard the man he was looking for was in there. He knocked the wooden door gently, opening it slowly when he got permission to enter. The room was filled with the slightly blueish light coming from the large window it had, giving sight to beautiful snowflakes falling calmly and hitting the glass from time to time. It's owner lying sideways in bed, phone in hands, wearing thick sweatpants color matching the very familiar black hoodie he also had on, which the canadian recognized as his own. The younger also had a big and fluffy blanket that covered him up to the knees, so his feet wouldn't feel cold. When he realized it was Mark at the door he promptly stood up from his position, almost in a heartbeat, and ran to hug him, who already had his arms wide opened for Hyuck. Adorable smiles adorning both of their faces.
"I thought you'd still take, like, two more hours to arrive! Why didn't you tell me before?" Donghyuck asked holding Mark tightly above with shoulders, giggling with how happy he was.
"Sorry, I wanted to surprise you." Holding him by the waist as much thightly, Mark pulled away just enough to see his lover's face, admiring him for a few seconds before putting their foreheads together. Both closing their eyes. "I missed you so much, baby. Are you feeling better from the cold?"
Hyuck's smile widened when he heard the pet name and stole a kiss from the man in front of him, laughing fondly at his surprised face. "I missed you so much too, love. And yes, I feel better. It isn't actually gone yet, but I feel a lot better. Thanks for worrying about me."
Mark was the one to steal a kiss now, causing both of them to laugh while giving each other more and more kisses, not really deepening any since they couldn't stop smiling for a second. After a few minutes like this they decided to lie down, cuddling in bed while they updated each other about every detail that happened in these last two weeks. All that moment flowed so naturally, they talked about everything and anything. Phones forgotten, caresses here and there, giggles and loud laughters, stolen kisses, the usual teasing. They genuinely had no idea about how many hours had passed, but it was still day and shouldn't had passed much from lunch time since they didn't feel hungry.
The air in the room felt so light, so comforting. It was exactly what they needed, what they were yearning for. Donghyuck snuggled in the crook of Mark's neck, enjoying the soft caress he received in his hair, hugging the other by his waist, legs all tangled up. Nothing could possibly be wrong. However, the older seemed a bit anxious. Any other person would say he was quite relaxed, and he was indeed. But Hyuck knew Mark like no other and always observed every little detail about him. So surely he would catch how Mark's index finger has been tapping his own thigh constantly for the last fifteen minutes. Still, he waited a bit more so he wouldn't cut off the conversation in the middle, and finally spoke up.
"Is everything okay? You seem nervous about something." The younger moved away just slightly so he could look at the other, who looked like he was thinking about any excuse to give. "Don't even try to make something up, Mark. I know when you're lying, and you're honestly really bad at it."
He faked an offended gasp before laughing at how Donghyuck squinted at him. "Alright... there's nothing wrong, Hyuckie, don't worry. It's just..."
Mark tried to look for the best way to explain, getting a bit nervous about taking too long with it and accidentally making the other overthink. Before he could worry too much about it, he felt a squeeze in one of his hands, as the other still held the younger. His eyes met with Donghyuck's, feeling at ease quickly. They had this thing of understanding each other only by their eyes, like the emotions carried in them were enough for one to reassure the other.
"I prepared another surprise for you. I've been waiting all day for this, but I wanted to make it special. I wanted to take you out, even if just for a walk. We can't go out with all this snow though." He stopped and looked at the window, seeing how it was much stronger now as snow layers grew taller in every surface outside. "I couldn't possibly get any of us sick and you're still recovering from a cold. But I still wanted to make something cute, you know? Didn't want to just do it here in your bedroom while we're talking about random things. So I tried to come up with anything I'd be able to do for you indoors. I just... didn't think of anything until now, and don't know if I will before we have to go back to our schedules."
Mark didn't even notice how he wasn't really looking at Hyuck while saying all this. When he finally did he started to feel his ears and face burn, knowing very well he was blushing at how fondly the sunkissed man looked at him.
"Mark, you don't have to do anything to make it special. Just having you here and knowing you thought of something to make me happy is more than enough, and I feel glad. I always tell you that, you should know at this point. Anything you do for me or with me is already special because of you. Every single thing you do makes me feel loved."
Now they were sitting down on the mattress facing each other while holding hands. Donghyuck gave it another squeeze before concluding. "I'll love whatever you have for me, alright? You don't have to do it now if you prefer to wait, but don't feel pressured." As he finished, he leaned a little to give the other a short kiss.
"I can do it now. I don't really think there's anything we'd be able to do before heading to the airport tomorrow. If that really is okay for you." Donghyuck nodded and after a deep breath Mark got up from the bed, making his way to the other side so he would stood up in front of the younger. As soon as he turned around confused, the canadian kneeled on the floor, making the other's confused eyes widen.
"Don't freak out. Listen to me first, okay?" The younger nodded again, releasing the air he didn't even notice he was holding. "You know I'll probably have to stop using the 7dream rings, because of my deal with Boucheron. I'm still talking to them about it to see if they can make an exception since it's friendship rings, but nothing is certain. For now I don't have permission to use it. Then I... Well I'll be honest I didn't actually think that much about it." A laughter escaped from Hyuck's lips and the tension of both of their bodies eased a little as Mark laughed at it too. "While they don't give me an answer I wanted to wear matching rings with you at least. I know it's risky because the company has been strict with us about it since we got caught together at a Tiffany store, but come on who cares. So.. I got these for us"
Mark reached for the little box inside his pocket and slowly opened it right between them, revealing two shiny silver rings that immediately reflected the blueish light of the room. A pair of Boucheron Quatre Black rings. Donghyuck was still shocked by all the situation, nervous even. He didn't expect this all of a sudden, his cheeks felt hot and were certainly blushed, it felt like his brain was overtheating.
"The rings are... gorgeous. I'm- I can't believe you're doing this. What's gotten into you?" Hyuck said, almost laughing. He couldn't think of any possible word to describe how happy he felt. He was there sitting at the egde of his bed, Mark kneeled holding a pair of rings for him, simply looking so soft. His beautiful smile, his starry eyes, his cute moles, his fluffy hair. Donghyuck had all that right in front of him and he was so in love. That was his boyfriend in front of him.
Donghyuck melted, falling into Mark's arms who promptly held him. The only thing he could do was giggle. He started feeling stupid like a teenager who just had his first kiss, but all that happiness was almost overwhelming. When the older was about to speak, he got surprised as Hyuck suddenly grabbed him by his cheeks and started kissing all of his face. They were both laughing, all smitten, Donghyuck telling him how much he loved him and how thankful he was between all those kisses, leaving him almost breathless. Mark poked his waist so he would stop, even though he didn't really want him to, and after a few(a lot) more kisses, the younger pulled away. They put on their rings and admired each others hands now that they had that shiny detail.
Hyuck teased Mark for knowing the exact size of his finger, causing him to get shy and complain about how he couldn't spare him the teasing even in a moment like this. The fake annoyance being obvious for how fond he sounded. Cutting off the dramatic complaint, Donghyuck closed their distance. His hands made their way to Mark's hair, giving a slight tug, smiling into the kiss when he felt the hold in his waist. Both of them melting into the embrace, trying to pull impossibly closer as they tasted each other and thought about how soft their lips felt against one another. It was a slow and warm kiss, carried with their love and all of today's unspoken feelings they couldn't possibly describe with words.
"I know it isn't February 14th yet, but.. happy Valentine's, baby." Mark said before giving Donghyuck another kiss, a short one this time.
"Happy Valentine's, my love."
