Work Text:

Hold my beer, will ya!

The party was in full swing.

The music was loud, the bass a-bumping, the melodies and vocals strange and haunting yet slightly appealing just the same. People were crowding the place. The bar was full, the grinding bodies on the dance floor held tightly together by force while swaying to the beats of the eerie music.

It was Goth Night, in the GAR.

Echo and Fives were the ones in charge of arranging the event.

The two monitoring the party as it went along. Not that there was much to do, as mostly, people were behaving despite a few getting perhaps a tad too drunk. But usually, there were friends taking care of those troopers, dragging the drunken off when the situation got dire.

The dress code was casual and clearly all the shades of black, be that leather, plastic or mesh were well presented. Some outfits perhaps slightly questionable, but to each their own was the motto. Make-up had been applied by most, the black lipsticks and eyeliners having circulated among the vod’e while prepping for the night’s party.

Echo was currently standing at the bar.

The tenders of it, Soup and Toast doing their usual great work but of course. The two of them always did. It was a little side gig of theirs, getting the best liquor on the blackmarket and being part of these kinds of shindigs.

Fives however, was nowhere to be found.

Echo suspected Fives having taken to either the dance floor or then, the ARC involved in some kind of shenanigans. He usually was, especially during parties. Leaving Echo to do the work they were supposed to be sharing.

Echo was trying to spot his twin in the crowd, but there was no sign of of the trooper.

Just as Echo was about to recruit someone to take his spot as the overall watcher of the party he and Fives were supposed to share, Echo felt it. The familiar sensations of his counterpart.

Fives had returned.

Hovering there, right by Echo’s side, with a mischievous grin plastered on his face.

Yup, Fives was certainly up to no good.

“Fives. Bout bloody time you shoved up!” Echo complained.

“Yeah? Well, I was just making my rounds, ya know, checking the crowd, the premises for anything unusual. Being a good host and all that.” Fives really tried too hard to explain his, absence.

“Unusual, like what?” Echo demanded, not believing Fives for a second.

“Well, ya know, anything really. Nuttin there though.”

Echo shook his head, crossing his arms. As Fives certainly was a fickle friend. But then again, the two were joined at the hip, so it was simply for Echo to endure, right? Not that it really was that bed.

“Fine.”

“Yeah, so, I was thinking…”

Oh oh! Trouble ahead for sure!

“Wot?” Echo really did not like the sound of that, Fives thinking, usually amounting to no good.

“Well, you’re a cyborg now, right.” Fives was ogling at Echo, clearly having nothing good on his mind at the moment.

“And?” Echo really did not like where to this was heading, at all!

“Well, what if we get a keg and hook it to your ‘netics…” Fives wheels were turning, the man positively eliciting smoke as he did.

“Why would we do that, exactly?” Echo really did not like the idea at all.

“Then, we could have you as the beer fridge, ya know for good. Getting beer whenever we wanted to. Cause Soup and Toast got the good stuff.”

Yeah, really good idea Fives!

Echo could not believe what he was hearing. His eyes wide, his glare stern aimed right at Fives.

“Why the kark would you think I could hold beer in me???”

What the fuck was Fives thinking anyway???

“Well, you have those empty spaces in ya, for the spare parts right. The storage?”

Fives!!!

“Wrong.”

“Oh?”

“Yes, oh, Fives. It’s all solid stuff in there. And besides, it’s not like I can control the temperature of those parts that much anyway.”

“But you can control them just a little bit. I mean you could still store the beer right? Even if warm?”

Fives sounded really hopeful of his plan to succeed. Having a permanent supply of beer always handy.

Echo sighed, shaking his head once again. It was happening a lot lately too with Fives around. Then again, Echo wasn’t really complaining about it too much. Himself having come back from the dead and all, the two reunited and that kind of thing.

“Look, Fives, there is no way for me to store anything else but data inside my cybernetics.”

“Oh.”

“Yeah oh.”

“Yeah, well, I thought when you said you had storage in ya, that it could ya know, hold things and stuff.”

“Like beer.”

“Yeah, like beer.”

“Sorry to disappoint ya.”

“Yeah, well, we can figure out another way.” Fives already over the disappointment of not being able to use Echo as a beer keg.

“Why do we need to store beer anyway?” Echo asked then, still not following this train of thought at all. “I mean, you can get it whenever you want from those two.” Echo nodded at Toast and Soup busy tending the bar.

“Why indeed.” Was all Fives said, already plotting his next move. “Why indeed.” Glancing around like a mad person, his plans forming in his head.
