“Some cultures hold that the breaking of a mirror is bad luck.” Obi Wan said lightly as Helix snatched up one of his hands, steadying himself against the command console, back to viewscreen where the battle raged around them. He had been called up to the bridge when Cody had noticed that Obi Wan had blood dripping off of his hands and onto the equipment. Why Obi Wan hadn’t called for a medic himself was just typical self-sacrificing Kenobi.
“Do I want to know how you managed to break a mirror in all of this?” Helix asked, snapping his medkit open at his feet, magnetized it to the floor, and began to pull out the necessary supplies.
“I was in the ‘fresher when we were first hit.” Obi Wan said lightly. “The mirror fell off of the wall and I put my hands up to protect myself.”
“You couldn’t have used the Force to catch it?” Helix asked, taking the hand back as Obi Wan jabbed at more buttons on the console.
“Ah Helix, you wouldn’t deny me the charm of your company would you?” Obi Wan asked, and Helix snorted.
“I enjoy your company better when you aren’t injured, in the middle of a battle no less, because some fool natborn forgot that the first rule of space travel is to fix everything down.”
“Is there anyone else in need of more help? Because I can wait Helix, really.” Obi Wan said, making a small noise as Helix pulled a particularly long shard of glass out of his palm.
“I have more than one medic.” Helix said shortly. “And have you seen the state of your command console?”
“Ah.” Obi Wan looked down. “I’m afraid I hadn’t noticed.”
“Well, I did.” Cody put in, before shouting another order at a bridge tech. Obi Wan returned his attention to his job, and Helix did his, cursing every Seppie and clanker and ignorant builder from there to wild space as he did.
