23 December 2026 7:30 AM - Phoenix's apartment
Miles Edgeworth woke up near his boyfriend of nearly 10 years, Phoenix Wright.
"Morning Miles" he said, placing a kiss on Miles' cheek.
"Mhhm."
That wasn't a good sign. "Miles? Whatsup?"
"Nothing. go to work Wright." Oh oh, last names.
"I know whats going on here Babe. Don't worry. Just eat something before i leave ok?"
"Mhm. Bring a pastry here"
"Fancy. i'll be back in a min." He goes to the kitchen and brings Miles his breakfast, kissing him again. "You free tonight handsome?"
"Mhm. Go, now. Or you'll be late. and yes, Im free. you should know that."
"Great. Bye love. Did you take your meds?"
"Yes. go."
Miles practically pushed Phoenix and he finally left to go to work.
Phoenix biked at his office to not bother Miles ultimately. He helped Apollo with paperwork all day while Athena was working on a case. Waiting patiently to come home.
Athena suddenly broke the silence. "Boss? What's up?"
"Oof.. can't hide anything from you kid."
"Not with this!" She points at her necklace. "Apollo come here" He did.
"W-What's this?" he asked. looking at the screen coming out of Athena's widget.
"Boss is feeling particularly happy and anxious. See how its all green? I wonder what happened."
"Mr. Wright" Apollo tightened his tie. "Why are you so happy?"
"Polly you're straightforward" Athena kicks him lightly
"It's okay kids. we're friends I'll tell you." Phoenix starts searching in his pockets
"You see, It's December and it's a hard time for Miles.." Apollo's eyes shined
"ChiefProsecutor Miles Edgeworth?"
"Yes my boyfriend. And Trucy's Papa. It's a hard time for him. So bad he can't walk. When taking out christmas decorations i also have to take out his wheelchair. It's- I just want him to be happy."
Athena took a big breath "Wheelxhair? I mean- I didn't know. I don't mean to-"
"It's Okay, Kid. When he was a kid he had a stroke, He's Mostly Okay now. You've seen him using a cane right? But when he gets seasonal depression, The plegic part of his body gets worse."
Apollo and Athena nodded "But what does this have to do with anything?" She asked
"Oh right." Phoenix took a box out of his pocket. "I wanted to make this period happy for him, so i saved money and bought this a while ago." He opens the box gently.
"An Engament ring?!" Athena shouts
Shh Apollo says. "Funny coming from you!"
"Kids kids. Keep it down, but yes. I was hoping to propose tonight, on the beach."
"In December?"
"Oh you guys don't get it! There's a beach nesr our apartment and it should be full of snow, Trucy likes it."
"Well Boss, Me and Polly are happy for you too. Please let us know."
"Of course I will Athena. Is it a problem for you two if I go home early?"
"Yes-" Apollo tried to say, but he got kicked by Athena. "Of course not! don't listen to Apollo. really. Don't"
"Kids, you're great. See you."
Phoenix biked his way home with a sandwich in his mouth and another one in a bag for Miles and another for Trucy.
"I'm homee!" He opened the door, meeting Trucy.
"Hi dad! Is that for me?" She asked pointing at the sandwich.
"No dear, One is for Miles The other is for you. He's picky. I'll go give him it ok?"
"Okay but dad why are you home so early?"
"It's important I'm near Papa. He gets depressed in this period of the year Baby."
"Mhm! Then go! he's in the bedroom."
"Hi Miles." He opened the bedroom's door to see Miles hasn't moved an inch. "I brought you something to eat. If you don't feel like eating now it's okay. How your plegic side doing?"
"I'm fine, give me that sandwich. Why are you here?"
"Okay here you go. I'm here because my handsome beautiful boyfriend needs company. We should take a nap. And then I help you take a shower if you want?"
"Mh. Okay. Let me finish eating. Oh and my foot kinda hurts"
"It's a good sign right?" Phoenix snuggled against Miles
"Yes." Miles started eating the sandwich. "I'm glad you're here."
"I wouldn't leave you for anything in the world."
"Corny. But this sandwich is good." Miles snuggled back, his leg on Phoenix's, pulling him closer. "Phoenix I'm not gonna lie, I slept all day."
"It's okay Miles, let's watch Steel Samurai, I've got the remote."
Miles nodded, putting his head on Phoenix's chest as he put away the paper towel of his sandwich.
They've binge watched the whole first season, Phoenix every now and then fell asleep. Miles had to try wake up him everytime. At least until they had finally finished the season. at that point Miles started to speak.
"Phoenix, you wanted to go out today right? Cmon I wanna take a shower." Phoenix almost jumped, yes yes, he wanted to go out. "Okay have you got your cane?" Phoenix looked around for it, but Miles was already taking it and getting up. "Wow, you're eager ahah." He giggled. "It's been a while since our last date, I'm curious. And I like going out with you. Just.. us.. right?"
hundred of thoughts were going on in Phoenix's mind. "Huh. yes, yes."
The two got into the shower, Miles sat on the chair, washing where he could reach, while Phoenix helped him in places he could not for his paralysed left arm. It was a quick shower, but it was an intimate moment, they do this almost everyday and yet Phoenix manages to fall in love with Miles everytime more. They quickly fix Miles' hair drying it and styling it. Then They reach the bedroom and get changed. "Oh, Miles. I was thinking, would you like to see the beach? It gets beautiful with all the snow. If you don't feel like walking theres a path that's accessible with wheelchairs." Miles looked confused for a second, then answered while trying to pur his clothes on "Yeah. I'd like that. Thank you" Phoenix saw him struggling and run to help him get dressed. "Of course." When they were done, Phoenix hurried to get Miles' wheelchair and yelled "TRUCY. We're going out for a bit. there's something to eat in the fridge if you didn't eat it yesterday!"
"Okay Dad! have fun!"
Miles smiled . "She's a great kid" Phoenix kissed him under his eye. "She had the best dad, after all." Miles finished.
They went out, heading for the beach. It wasn't snowing, but it was still a bit cold. "You cold Miles?"
"I'm good. Let's go so YOU don't get cold" he chuckled. But Phoenix hurried either way, he liked taking Miles to places. Just like Miles liked taking Phoenix and Trucy in various places in the world.
They went until the end of the path, almost near the water. "Miles.. I. fuck" He should have practiced. Phoenix thought. Miles looked around confused. "Sorry, I love you. I want you to be happy, always, Winter Summer... all seasons. Forever. And... today I am here with you to..." He started crying, his voice shaking. Miles couldn't help but cry too. "Phoenix.. I'm-"
"Disabled? I know and I will always support you and help you. I'll never understand fully what you've been through, But I'll be here. I don't plan on leaving you. ever." He starts getting on his knee. Miles starts shaking his head. "Miles Edgeworth.. will you..." Miles interrupts. "Phoenix I'll never be normal again. That's something I accepted decades ago.. But you Phoenix. Deserve someone better. Because I love you too. So please don't continue." Phoenix held his hand. "I don't care. I don't care. You deserve love too. And I love you more than anything else in the world. So, Miles Edgeworth. Will you marry me?" Miles bursted out crying. "Whats up Babe?" Phoenix asked gently. "Mh. I want to get up." Thankfully Phoenix had brought the cane, so he gave him it, helping him to get up slowly.
"Miles, love. You didn't give me an answer.." Miles hugged him the best he could with only one arm working properly and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. "Yes, idiot. I'll marry you. But uhm. my left hand is paralised so. would you help me?" he stepped back a bit, Phoenjx nodded and took his hand. gently putting the ring on the finger. "Fuck Miles I love you so much." "Me too. I'm glad You're here."
