Chapter 1: Letters
Chapter Text
The song above doesn't really have anything to do with the story, just I like the song and the cover always reminds me of Lena for some reason.
Blistering cold, scorching desert. The rider rode for many days and nights. He risked life and limb, to find the missing princess. The rider rode a stead whose fur was black as the night sky, matching the rider's hooded clothing. The rider had a bow and quiver tied to his back with a sword at his side. He wore a mask that covered his mouth but left his eyes open.
The rider/archer rode on, talking to anyone he could find, whenever he made it to a village. Until finally, someone was able to help him. In the small village of Midvale, someone knew of the princess, or at least someone who looks like her.
The mysterious archer travelled to the house the villager pointed him to. It was a small little cottage surrounded by woods and trees. Thanks to the night sky, the archer was able to hide within the shadows. He had a perfect view of the home and could see the lights indoors were on. Then the front door opened up and a woman with raven hair walked out with a blanket over her shoulders. She looked up into the starry night sky. The archer grabbed his spyglass to get a better look and sure enough, this woman matched the missing princess's description exactly. The archer smiled to himself before putting the spyglass away and running to his horse to make the journey back to the king and queen, and deliver the good news. But shortly after the archer left, someone else came out behind the princess.
/
Lena was finally happy. She was away from her hellish family, the dreadful duties they forced upon her, and was finally able to do what she wanted. So, Lena wrapped her blanket over her shoulders and went outside and just looked at the beauty of the night sky. Stars shining bright along with the moon as full as it could get. She was truly happy. But after a moment of peace by herself, two strong arms wrapped around her stomach from behind and held her tight. She could feel a chin sitting on her shoulder. Lena chuckled before turning around in her "intruder's" grasp and stared at the blonde woman holding her, Kara Danvers, the love of her life, her wife.
"Sorry." The blonde said.
"For what, darling?" Lena asked (Lena has her Irish accent in here in full. I love that accent)
"For interrupting your peace."
"If you were anyone else, I would be a bit upset. But for you, I will make an exception, my love."
"Great, but can you come back inside?" Kara asked.
"Why? You miss me already?" Lena teased her wife.
"Yes, and I don't sleep well without you." Kara mumbled into Lena's shoulder in embarrassment, but Lena was able to understand her.
She laughed at her wife's embarrassment before kissing her on the head.
"Alright darling. I'm coming in."
And with that, the two of them made it inside and fell asleep within each other's arms.
Oh yes, Lena was very happy with her new life. She married the woman she loved. Has a job she adores. Lena was happy. But life has a funny habit of ruining the moment and/or the peace.
/
It has been two weeks since the mysterious archer paid the village a visit, neither Lena nor Kara found out about him. But Lena was walking home from work, as an apprentice to the local Alchemist. She greeted everyone on the way home, and they greeted her back. But once she returned home, Kara wasn't home yet. So Lena went to their room and changed into some better clothing. By the time she was done, Kara had returned from the Blacksmith. Kara's face was covered in soot and dirt.
"How was the shop?" Lena asked her wife.
"Hard, Ronnie had me working twice as hard today, big order from the capital." Kara said as Lena noticed the letters in her hand. "How was your day?"
"Good, Wells showed me another tactic today. It is going to be helpful in the long run. What do you have there?" She answered before pointing at the letters.
"Letters from my sister and mother. But there is also a letter in here for you."
That was weird, Lena never got mail.
"And damn is this letter fancy. I don't think we can even afford a letter to look like this." Kara continued before raising an envelope that had a golden design written all around it with a gold wax seal with a crest that Lena recognized. Fear began to grow within her quickly.
"Burn it." She said quickly.
"What?"
"Burn it."
"Why? And Lee, there is no fire, it will take me a minute to collect the firewood and start it. But, what's wrong?"
"It's from my parents."
"Your parents? Ok. In the fire it goes." Kara said.
She was well aware how cruel Lena's parents were to her. So she placed the cursed letter on the fireplace mantle before heading outside to collect firewood.
How? How did they find her? She was careful to not leave a trace when she ran away. She had help on the way out, help who was able to cover Lena's tracks.
Once Kara had finished making the fire, the letter was thrown in and Lena held her breath until the letter was completely gone. Kara looked back to her wife and saw her relieved look. She walked over to her and grabbed her hands.
"It's ok, Lee. It's gone now. Would you like to go to bed and just hold each other? Or maybe we can go to the tavern? If you want, I can make us some dinner, and yes, I will add in the kale for both of us, even if they are gross."
Lena laughed a little before pulling her wife in for a hug.
"I love you, Kara."
"I love you, Lena."
"So how is your sister?"
Alex had moved a few months ago. She had moved to the capital in an attempt to become a knight.
"Not sure, let's see." Kara responded before opening her sister's letter and read to herself real quick. "Huh, apparently she met someone. Someone who has an adorable daughter, who already adores her."
"Good for her. Maybe there will be another sister-in-law in the family." Lena said, really hoping to change the subject.
The two of them came in for a kiss.
"Some dinner wouldn't hurt, but I am helping." Lena said after they broke the kiss.
Kara chuckled before they went into their kitchen and made some salads. Once they finished eating, they went to bed, and fell asleep in each other's arms, like they do every night.
Lena had hoped that was the last they would hear from her parents. She was very wrong.
Chapter 2: Unexpected
Notes:
Songs don't really have anything to do with the chapters or the book, but I like them so they're here
Chapter Text
A week has passed and there hasn't been word or a peep of Lena's parents or the mysterious visitor. But as Lena walked home from her job, she could see the same styled letter laying on the ground in front of the door.
"Damnit!"
The door opened up and a confused Kara stepped outside.
"Lena? What's wrong?" she asked before looking down. "Another one?"
Lena marched over and grabbed the letter and walked into their living room and found the fireplace was already lit. Once she walked over to it, she threw the letter in.
"Lena?"
"I don't want to talk to them."
"Lena."
"Kara, no. You know what they did to me. I won't talk to them. If they wanted any kind of relationship with me, they should have tried to be my mother and father rather than, well, them."
As memories of her childhood came flooding in, Lena's voice began to crack and tears started to form around her eyes.
"I'm sorry." Lena quickly apologised.
"No. Don't apologise." Kara said before walking over to her wife and pulled her in for a hug. "You have nothing to be sorry for."
Lena hated showing any sort of weakness. But for some reason, as long as she was with Kara, and only Kara, she was fine showing it. So, she wrapped her arms around Kara and held her tight as she buried her face in her shoulder and cried. With more and more horrific memories coming in, she lost all control of her emotions.
"Shhhhh. It's ok. You're ok. They're not here." Kara soothed her.
Lena cried for a few minutes before standing upright and wiping her remaining tears.
"Thank you, Kara. I love you so much."
"Of course. I love you so much too." Kara said as she smiled and placed a hand on Lena's cheek. "Now, you sit, I'll cook dinner. And no, you're not helping. You're going to relax."
Lena was too emotionally drained now to even consider arguing with her. So she did as she was told. As she sat and watched the fire, she divided deeper into her thoughts. Another reason she hated talking about her abusive parents, especially with Kara was because Lena knew of Kara's past with her own parents. They died in a fire, and Kara was adopted by family friends, the Danvers. She knew that Kara struggled with that, even if she doesn't show it, and complaining about her parents just didn't seem fair to her. But Kara never complained. She always heard Lena out. But despite everything that she complained about them, there was one thing that she didn't mention about her parents, even to Kara.
/
It has been months since the first letter, and they kept coming. At first it was just once a week, but then they started to come in more and more frequently. From two letters a week to almost everyday. Each letter was unopened when Lena or Kara burnt them. That big order Kara mentioned was finally complete and she was really relieved. Especially when her boss, Ronnie Reymond, let her have a few days off. Lena was very happy that she was able to spend the entire day with her wife. But of course, even that had to be interrupted.
/
Lena and Kara were sitting next to each other reading books. Kara was reading a book about some fictional place called Camelot while Lena read a book about alchemy, trying to further her skills. That was until Kara got a little restless.
"Ok." Kara said a little loudly as she slammed her book closed. "I need to stretch my legs."
She got up from her seat, leaving the book in her place, and began to walk around the house, only to be stopped by Lena grabbing her arm.
"Lena-" She began to ask but was cut off by Lena pulling her in for a kiss.
"That's it." Lena said once they broke the kiss.
"Well, I will definitely never complain about that."
It took Kara a minute to holler to her wife after she walked off.
"Lena!"
"Kara? What's wrong?"
"Outside."
"Oh, fuck. Is there another damned letter?"
"Not exactly."
This confused Lena. How can there not exactly be a letter outside. Well, she soon found out.
Lena got up from her seat, abandoning her book along the way, and made way to the front door. She saw Kara coming over to her from a window. Lena opened the door and outside were several men wearing extremely fancy clothing. All but one of them had long horns in their hands while the one in the middle held a scroll. The horn players were standing on either side of the scroll keeper. Once the door was open, they began to play a tune as the scroll keeper walked between all of them, to the married couple. But one of the players got a little bit caught up in the moment and started to play his own song, only to stop when the scroll keeper whacked him with the scroll.
(Sorry, couldn't help myself. I love that bit.)
"Princess Lena Luthor, you are ordered to return to the capital at once. The king and queen demand it, they have important business to discuss with you. If you do not comply, you will be arrested and sentenced for treason against the crown." The scroll keeper read from the scroll.
Shit. Shit. SHIT!
"Lena? What does he mean by princess?" Kara asked.
Fuck.
"Uh. Well you see darling, I may have left out the part about my parents being the king and queen."
"You're the princess?" She asked, completely caught off guard. Lena waited for her wife to explode at her. "I can now see why they kept sending those really fancy letters."
Not what she was expecting.
"You're not mad?"
"Maybe a little, but I guess we have a long trip ahead of us. It will give us plenty of time to talk."
"Oh, I'm sorry my dear. But the king and queen only requested their daughter. Not..." He began before pausing and looking Kara up and down. "You."
"No. I will not go without her. I don't care if I get arrested or not. Either we both go or neither go." Lena demanded.
"Ok, fine. I don't get paid enough to actually care anyways."
"Great, we'll get packed real quick." Kara said.
Before they knew it, Kara and Lena were in a carriage, with some of their stuff in trunks tied to the back and were on their way to Metropolis, the capital.
"So, Lena. What's this about me marrying a princess?" Kara asked.
Chapter 3: Family
Chapter Text
Lena began to fidget with the hems of her dress. Unsure how to tell her wife how she had been lying to her since they met. Kara seemed to notice Lena's panicked state because she reached over and gently grabbed her wife's hand. Once she did, Lena looked up and stared into Kara's eyes, seeing only love.
"It's ok. Just start from the beginning."
By the gods, Lena has never loved anyone quite like she loves Kara before. No one has even come remotely close to how she feels about her.
"Well, my mother and father, Queen Lilian and King Lionel, they aren't the nicest people they make themselves out to be in public. In public, they are a kind and generous king and queen, but in private, they are anything but that. Every little thing I did wrong, they would point out. And not in a nice way, they would scold me, lock me in my room, even hit me." she explained as she began to choke on my words. Lena took a second to catch my breath before she carried on. "I already told this much, with everything I told about my parents, before learning about the royalty. What I didn't tell you was that they arranged a marriage between me and another prince, a prick named Jack. And after everything, I decided to run away. A friend actually advised me to run, and another friend helped me escape and hide my tracks."
She smiled as she remembered her two friends of very few.
"Then I finally made it to Midvale, to you. But to hide myself from my parents, and I honestly didn't want anyone to treat me differently, I kept my identity secret."
"And you started going by Lena Kieran." Kara finished for her.
"Yes."
"Ok, I understand not telling anyone when you first arrived, and I understand why you didn't tell me when we first started dating, but we're married now. Why haven't you told me yet?"
"Because we have something good, something absolutely amazing and I was afraid of ruining that with the royalty drop. And I wanted to tell you, I really did. I kept telling myself that I would tell you the next day. Or that night, but the next day turned into the following day, to the following week, and so on and so on."
"Lena, you should know by now that you can trust me with anything. Look, I'm not upset that you didn't tell me our entire relationship, well, not entirely upset. I am more upset that someone else had to tell me and not my wife."
Lena dropped her head into her hands, feeling the extreme amount of guilt being weighed upon her. But then she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder, she looked up and looked into her wife's eyes, still seeing nothing but love.
"I am so sorry Kara. You are the last person I wanted to lie to. I was just afraid."
"I know. Come here."
Lena moved closer to Kara and she pulled her into a hug and held her tight. Lena wasn't expecting this, so she gasped and then settled into the hug and wrapped her own arms around her wife.
"I am so sorry."
"I know. Hey, I do have good news behind all of this."
"What's that?"
"Well, you know my sister moved to the capital right?" Kara asked.
"Yeah?"
"Well, we are now on our way to the capital, so we can meet up with my sister and her new girlfriend and possible daughter."
"That'll be nice." Lena smiled.
"And if things do not go the way we want with your parents, then we can come home."
"As bad of an idea this may be, I still want to show you around where I grew up."
"How is that a bad idea?"
"Well, if things go south with my family, we should probably leave sooner rather than later. I'll show you around then we'll head home."
Kara chuckled a little.
"That sounds nice and a little risky."
"I'd have no other way."
There was a long moment of silence, not awkward, thanks to their talk, but blissful. The two of them just enjoyed their wife's company. Until Kara spoke up.
"Hey, Lena. Quick question."
"Yes, darling?"
"How did your parents find you?"
"I'm not sure. Wait, shit."
"What?"
"There may be a chance that they hired that damned assassin."
"What assassin?"
"Some prick that my parents like to hire here and there."
"Interesting."
"Yeah." Lena agreed.
/
It took them a few days, giving them plenty of time to talk, but soon they could see the mighty kingdom in the distance.
"Kara, my love, welcome to Metropolis."
"It's bigger than I thought it would be."
Their carriage slowly made its way into the kingdom, once they were within the kingdom, memories of her time there came flooding back to her. Kara was enjoying the view of the many buildings of shops, cafes, other food related places, and other various places. Lena was enjoying an entirely different view, her wife getting excited over each building.
"Beautiful." Kara said.
"Beautiful." Lena agreed.
Then they focused on the front of the carriage as it made its way to the castle. The closer they got to the castle, the more Lena's anxiety skyrocketed. Then they saw a whole crowd surrounding the front door, people were everywhere, except for on the red carpet that led from the carriage all the way to the front door, where Lena's parents were standing.
Once the carriage came to a halt, horns blared marking their arrival.
"Introducing Princess Lena Luthor and her betrothed."
"Danvers. Lena Danvers." She muttered.
Then Lena stepped out and the crowd went wild with excitement. And that excitement immediately died out when Kara stepped out. Lena looked to her parents and saw a look of horror and disgust on their faces.
"This is going to be fun." Lena sighed.
Chapter 4: Dinner
Chapter Text
It was silent for what felt like an eternity, but then the crowd went crazy again, hollering in excitement.
"Ok, what?" Lena asked herself in confusion.
Her parents' look changed from the horror to cheerful, but Lena knew her parents, they were wearing their smiles as masks.
"Yeah, lot's of fun."
The two wives grabbed each other's hands and walked towards the king and queen.
"Lena! You've returned!" someone in the crowd shouted.
"Is that her wife?"
"No, he said betrothed."
"Oh, I wonder what the prince is going to think?"
"Which one? Lex or Jack?"
"Fair, but both."
Lena started to tune out the many conversations taking place within the crowd. Then the two of them made it to the steps where her parents were standing.
"Lena. Welcome home." Lional said.
"Father. Mother." Lena said with no emotion behind her voice.
"Please come inside, and we have your room set up for you and the table set up for us to eat. Your friend will have to go to the tavern or inn." Lillian said as she glared at Kara.
Kara was about to say something when Lena beat her to it.
"No."
"Excuse me?"
"I said no. She's coming in with me."
"Lena. This is a family dinner. She is not family."
"Well then, you better arrest me now because if she doesn't come with me, we're going back to Midvale."
"Lena!"
The princess just shrugged and turned around and started walking her and Kara back to the carriage.
"Fine! She can come in." Lillian said in a huff.
The king and queen walked into the castle and Kara and Lena followed. They both carried in their own luggage, refusing help. A servant showed them to a room, Lena's old room specifically. Once the door was closed behind them, leaving Kara and Lena alone, Kara immediately started unpacking.
"Stop." Lena said.
"What?"
"Stop unpacking."
"Why?"
"Knowing my parents, this dinner is not going to go well. So, I would rather sleep somewhere else than here. So don't even bother unpacking."
Kara closed the suitcase and then sat next to Lena on the bed.
"It's going to be ok, Lena."
"No it's not. My parents, they may seem great to the public, but their true selves, the ones they only show in private, they're monsters."
Kara wrapped her wife in a hug, Lena was caught off guard, but only for a moment before returning the hug.
"Kara, darling. I'm so scared." Lena gasped out.
"It's ok. I'm here, you haven't lost me, and you never will. If things go south, we'll find a nice inn to stay. Maybe we can find Alex and stay with her."
"Yeah, maybe. Thank you, Kara. I love you."
"I love you too."
/
Kara and Lena continued to talk for a while, but their conversation came to an end when someone knocked on their door. Lena got up and answered it.
"The king and queen are waiting for you in the dining hall." The servant said.
"Thank you."
The servant nodded before walking off.
"They couldn't even come get us themselves. I hate this place." Lena sighed.
Kara walked up behind Lena and rubbed her back.
"Let's go ok. We don't want to keep them waiting."
Lena smiled at her wife and took her hand as they made their way to dinner. Once there, they found a long table with the king and queen on either side of it. There were two seats on one side near the middle with another single seat on the other side. The single seat on the other side was taken by a man in a black robe and hood with a mask covering his mouth.
"Luthor." The masked man said.
Lena and Kara took their seats.
"So, you're the one who found me."
The masked man nodded.
"Who are you?"
"Merlyn, please take that rag off your head." Lillian said.
"Merlyn?"
The assassin removed his hood and mask, revealing Malcolm Merlyn.
"Malcolm, I should have known it was you." Lena sighed.
"Yeah, well, welcome home, princess." Merlyn responded before turning to the queen. "Ok, your daughter is here, I expect to be paid in full now."
"Of course."
A servant walked up from behind Merlyn and handed him a decently sized leather sack filled with gold coins.
"Tell Ra's that we appreciated the League's help in this."
"Uh huh." Merlyn responded as he put his hood and mask back on and left.
"Now, Lena, we have important matters to take care of." Lional said.
"Oh, really?" Lena responded sarcastically.
She was getting nervous, but Kara could tell and interlaced their fingers together.
Soon, the doors burst open and someone else walked through.
"Mother, father! I'm here. Now, what is it you wanted to talk to me about?"
Lillian did not respond, she just gestured to Lena.
"Lena? I haven't seen you in ages." Lena's brother, Lex, said.
"Lex." Lena said, with an annoyed tone.
"And, uh, friend." He said, referring to Kara.
"Kara." She said.
Ok, whatever."
Lex sat down where Merlyn was sitting. But as he walked over to the other side, Kara saw his sword and recognized it.
"Prince Lex, your sword."
"You like it? It is a beauty isn't it."
"Yes, I recognize it."
"Please, a peasant like you would never know what a sword like this is."
"Actually I do. I take it that you received that sword only recently."
"I did, how did you know?"
"That sword was a part of a massive order the king and queen put in through Midvale's blacksmith."
"It was." Lex said, surprised. "Midvale's forge is the best in the land. How did you know?"
"I work in the forge."
"Really? As the saleswoman?"
"No, as a blacksmith." Kara responded.
"Impossible. You're a woman. That is a man's job." Lex said.
"Kara's the best smith in Midvale." Lena replied.
"I did complete half of the orders you sent our way. Anyway, your sword."
"She is a beauty, isn't she." Lex said, ignoring some of the things they said. "The best sword in our kingdom's arsenal."
"Actually, no, it's not." Kara responded.
"Excuse me?"
"Your sword, it's not that great."
"How would you know?"
"I'm the one who made it."
"So you are bad at your job." Lex laughed.
"No, your sword is the only weapon that came with specific material to make it. These materials were crap though. Now, they do make the sword look really nice. But that's it. Your sword is for show only."
"How dare you."
"I'm only telling you this because it can save your life. I would much rather use one of your guards' swords than yours. In combat, your sword will break very quickly."
"She's right, Lex." Lena jumped in.
"Mother, father, have you told her yet?" Lex asked his parents, wanting to change the subject.
"No, we were just about to tell her when you came in."
"Tell me what?"
"We have great news for you, daughter." Lionel said.
"What?"
"Prince Jack Spheer has agreed to take you back as his wife." Lillian said.
"What?!" Lena yelled.
"Isn't that wonderful!" Lex yelled.
"But I don't want to marry him." Lena added.
"Lena, you have a duty to your kingdom. Besides, you were already betrothed to him when you were kids."
"Exactly, when we were kids. We grew apart and he's an asshole."
"Lena!" Lillian yelled. "Language."
"No, I won't marry him."
"Lena-" Lional started.
"And not just because I hate him. You two always told me about being faithful to my partner, even if you were talking about me and Jack. But he cheated on me. And I can't marry him because I would be unfaithful to someone else."
"Yes, this peasant from Midvale. She's your what again, betrothed?" Lional asked.
"No. But I do expect you to start treating her with more respect. Because she is your family now."
"Lena?" Kara said, giving her a concerned look.
"What are you talking about, child?" Lional asked.
"Kara is my wife."
"WHAT!" All three of them said together.
Chapter 5: Old Friends

These first five chapters were already completed on Wattpad, everything next will take more time.
Chapter Text
Lex, Lillian, and Lional all had jumped from their seats, knocking them over in the process. Lena gave her parents and brother one last look before grabbing her wife's hand and pulling her out of the room. Kara gave no objection.
Once they made it back to Lena's old room, they grabbed their bags. Thankfully, Lena was right and so nothing was unpacked. They grabbed everything and quickly left the castle before anyone could stop them. They walked down to the city and found an inn and booked a room for the night.
In no time, the two wives found themselves in bed, holding each other close.
"I'm sorry this didn't go the way you hoped." Kara said.
"It's not your fault, darling. It's their fault. But let's worry about them tomorrow, for now, the only thing I want to think about is you."
Kara gave her a smile before leaning in for a kiss, which Lena was happy to reciprocate. Soon, the two of them fell asleep in each other's arms.
/
Lex was pacing around the family room. His parents were sitting in seats in front of a fireplace.
"Married? Married? And not just married, but married to a woman!" Lex ranted.
"Yes, Lex. She's married." Lional said.
"But to a woman!"
"Yes, but we can fix that." Lillian said.
"How?"
"We are the king and queen."
"Yes, I know. But I can't believe she could be so foolish." Lex continued to complain.
"Yes, we agree."
"Lex, is Jack in town?" Lillian asked.
"Yes, mother."
"Send word to him that Lena's here and let him know of the situation. Hopefully he can show Lena how foolish she's being."
"Yes, mother. Right away."
Lex gave a bow before heading out to do as he was told.
/
Lena woke up to the sun shining in her face. She slowly got up, finding that she was alone in the bed. She looked around and noticed Kara was not in their room. Panic began to set in before the door opened up and Kara walked in, holding some food.
"Morning, love. I brought you breakfast."
Lena smiled at her adorable wife as relief set in, replacing the panic.
"Thank you, darling."
Lena took the food, but before she could eat, Kara leaned in for a kiss.
"Now hurry up, I want to see this city."
Lena just laughed.
It didn't take her long to finish and head outside. Once outside, Lena saw someone she recognized, Kara's sister, Alex.
"Alex! It's been too long." Lena said.
Alex just smiled before walking in for a hug.
"So, what's this about a princess?" Alex asked.
Lena sighed before explaining the whole thing.
"Wow. Just wow." Alex said. But before she could go on, someone called her name.
Lena, Kara, and Alex looked over and saw two people walking over to them. It was a woman and a little girl. Lena recognized the woman, Alex recognized both of them.
"Sam?" Lena said.
"Lena?" Sam stopped in her tracks before running over to her.
"Oh gods! It is so good to see you again! I was so worried about you! Where were you?"
"Living the good life."
"Sam, you know her?" Alex asked.
"Yes. She was my childhood best friend."
"Damn."
"Wait, Alex, is this the girl?" Kara asked, remembering her letter.
"Yes." Alex replied with a blush.
"Oh, that's amazing, Sam. And who's this?" Lena asked, referring to the young girl currently hiding behind Alex's legs.
"This is my daughter, Ruby." Sam replied.
"Hi, Ruby. I'm Lena." She said as she crouched down to her eye level.
Slowly, the child stepped out from her hiding spot.
"Hi, Lena." She said slowly.
Alex crouched down next to Ruby and pointed to Kara.
"And her, she's my sister, Kara."
"Hi, Kara." The nervous child slowly waved.
Kara gave a big grin and waved back.
"Oh, and Lena is my sister-in-law.”
"Wait, what?" Sam said.
"Oh, right. Sam, you know Kara is Alex's sister, right?"
"Of course."
"Well, she's also my wife."
"YOUR WIFE! And you didn't invite me to the wedding." Sam scoffed, half jokingly.
"Sorry, I wanted to keep hidden from my family here, so that meant hidden from everyone."
"Look, girl, I get it. I've seen your family go off. It's not pretty."
"I know."
"So, have you two seen that new cafe?" Alex asked.
"No, we haven't. We really haven't had the chance to explore with meeting her family and staying here." Kara answered.
"You need to check it out." Sam gasped.
So, the five of them made their way to this new cafe. Once inside, they got themselves something to drink. The drinks were all poured into tankards. Ruby got something called, decaf.
But unfortunately, their blissful peace was interrupted.
" LENA! " Jack sang as he burst through the doors. " I have come for you, my love! Come to me, for I will- "
"Jack?" Lena said.
"Stop it! I'm trying to serenade you!" Jack ordered. " Lena Luthor! I have come to your aid! Shall we escape this place and be wed by 'morrow's end! "
"Why are you singing?" Lena asked.
"If you wouldn't interrupt, you would see." Jack replied, annoyed. " Let's be wed and live our lives as king and queen! "
Then he was done.
"What do you want, Jack?" Lena asked.
"You, my love."
Jack got down on one knee and tried to grab one of Lena's hands, but she pulled away.
"Lena, my love. I have come for you. I should have known that our love was pure and true."
"Yet, you cheated on me."
"Darling, please forgive me. I know I hurt you, but I am here, Beth means nothing to me."
"Jack. I can't accept your proposal. I can't be with you."
"But why, my love? With me, you can be a queen!"
"She already is." Kara interjected.
"Quiet peasant!" Jack yelled.
"Jack! Stop! I don't love you anymore."
"But, you do. You said it yourself."
"We were children, Jack."
"That doesn't matter. We were meant to be together."
"Jack, no. Maybe I felt something when we were kids, but that was a long time ago. A lot has changed since then."
"No it hasn't. I still feel the same way I did then."
"Well, I don't. Look Jack, I can't marry you. I don't love you, you hurt me, and I'm already married."
"You're what!" Jack yelled, finally jumping to his feet.
"Jack, I'm already married."
"Impossible! To whom!?"
Lena was a little worried to answer him, but Kara beat her to it.
"To me."
"You? A woman? A peasant?" Jack shouted, truly confused.
Before Jack's rage could grow, the front doors opened up and a few knights walked in.
"Prince Spheer. We are going to have to ask you to leave." A knight ordered.
"Ask me to leave? Do you have any idea who I am?" Jack shouted, not realizing the knight called him by name and title.
"Your highness, you are causing panic, you are also not in your kingdom. So, I will repeat myself, leave or we will use force."
Jack let out an angry breath.
"This is not over, Lena." Jack said before leaving.
Kara wrapped an arm around Lena's shoulders. Sam, Alex, and Ruby stood next to them.
/
A little over an hour later, Kara and Lena found themselves in Alex, Sam, and Ruby's home. They stopped by the Inn to grab their stuff. Alex and Sam were kind enough to allow them to stay there while they were in Metropolis.
Their home was nice. The house is a bit bigger than Kara and Lena's, with Alex working as a guard and Sam as an Alchemist like Lena. But after some time Lena decided to go for a walk, alone.
So she was walking along the sidewalk for a while. Then she heard the patter of hooves racing towards her. Lena turned around and saw a knight and archer riding the same horse towards her. She expected them to race past her. But the knight pulled the horse to a stop in front of her and both of them jumped off.
Lena got a better look at the two of them. The knight was wearing light armor, but he had no swords. Instead he wore a pair of massive arm bracers. The archer wore a green leather jacket and hood, with a mask over his mouth. Instantly, Lena was prepared for a fight.
"Lena!" The two of them said together.
She just gave them a confused look. But the knight took off his helmet and the archer lowered his hood and mask. Instantly, she recognized them.
"Barry? Oliver?"
Two of Lena's closest friends from her childhood, besides Sam, Barry Allen and Oliver Queen. It was actually them who helped her leave when she did. Barry was the one who suggested she leave and helped her escape the castle. Oliver helped her escape the kingdom and covered her tracks.
The three of them hugged.
"Lena! What are you doing here?" Barry asked.
"My parents found me and demanded my return."
"How?" Oliver asked.
"Merlyn found me."
"Malcolm?"
"Yeah, why?"
"He's my stepdad." Oliver answered.
"What happened to Robert?"
He went on a voyage, got caught in a storm, died at sea."
Lena already knew what happened to Malcolm's late wife, so she didn't bother to ask.
"How are you two?" She asked instead.
"Good, I got head archer." Oliver said. "And I got married and had two kids."
"Really? That's fantastic, Oliver."
"Thank you."
"Barry?"
"I got head rider and I got married too."
"Congratulations, Flash." Lena said, saying his nickname.
"Oh gods. Not that again." Barry sighed.
Lena just laughed at his discomfort.
"Where are your weapons, Barry?"
"Oh, right."
Barry took a step back, flicked out his arms and a pair of blades came out of his bracers.
"Woah."
"Yeah, the court Alchemist made them for me."
"Thawne?"
"Yeah. He even got me my horse."
Lena looked over at the horse. She could see a harness coming down below his neck with a lightning bolt on it.
"He's beautiful."
"He's the fastest horse alive." Barry said as he pressed a button on top of the bracers, retracting the blades.
"What's his name?"
"Savitar."
"Savitar? Why that?" Lena asked.
Barry just shrugged.
"I didn't name him, Eobard did."
"I see."
"So, Lena, how are you?" Oliver asked.
"Well, like you two, I got married too."
"Really? Well, we'll have to get together right now. Are you staying in the castle?" Barry asked.
"No, we're staying with my sister-in-law."
"Who?"
"Alex Danvers."
"Really? She's a part of my team." Barry said.
"Oh, really?”
