Zari’s eyes roam over the clipboard in her hands. Triple, quadruple checking her to-do list.
Things were going relatively well but this was the legends so it can (and most likely will) go left at any time. Despite everything going right she can't help but shake the feeling that she's missing something.
“Everything in order, boss?” A familiar voice accompanied by lithe arms wrapping around her waist causes her to relax just slightly.
“It seems so.” Zari sighs out leaning into Charlie's embrace.
“You don't seem excited that everything's going well.”
“It's the legends.”
That gets a laugh from Charlie. The feeling of Charlie's chest rising and falling against her back as Charlie chuckles.
“It also still feels like something's missing.”
Zari's eyes scan the room. Behrad still has the tunes going. Ava and Sara were helping Eddie waitress some of the booze. And the guests seem to be having a good time, dancing around the room. Her eyes catch a glimpse in the mirror hanging closest to her and she freezes.
“Shit, I forgot to do my makeup and hair.”
Zari's hand runs through her uncharacteristically unkempt hair, trying to get into a more styled state with just hope and unwashed hands. Perfectly applied makeup now smudged.
“If it makes you feel any better I was just going to muck those up later.” Charlie replies accompanying the statement with a kiss right against the strap of her dress to let her know exactly what they're implying.
Zari shivers at the feeling before gaining enough of her bearings to lightly slap one of Charlie's arms around her waist for the bluntly crude statement. Charlie grins harder in response and rests their chin lightly on the woman's shoulder.
“On a more serious note, you were in charge of everything for the first time. Didn't you sometimes forget your makeup and stuff when you were running your business?” Charlie asks in a voice more gentler and quieter as they spoke.
“Actually I had people to do it for me.”
“Well I can volunteer but I'll be honest I really only know how to do my makeup. Though you do look hot in the punk look.”
Zari looks in the mirror, a slight smile on her face at the light hearted joke with Charlie wrapped around her. Their face buried slightly in her neck.
“Okay come on.” Charlie says moving away from her and grabbing her wrist.
“Where are we going?”
“To dance, you got everything in order now it's time to let loose. Who the hell doesn't party at their own party?”
Zari wants to reply that she hasn't plenty of times when she's set them up in the past. Too much time spent networking (which were what the parties were really for) and fixing problems as they arise. But Charlie pulls her along to the center of the dance floor before she can.
At first Zari is worried about if anyone's going to comment on them dancing together but then Zari sees two older men in suits swaying together on the dance floor. Smiling and having a good time and she relaxes.
Charlie's dance moves are too energetic and they clash against the smooth swank beat of the 1920's music. Not that it matters much because Zari dances right along with them, trying to match their energy.
Zari doesn't know how long they're out there but she does know that by the end their lungs and feet are going to be sore. But right now all she's focused on is Charlie as they both laugh themselves breathless as they spin each other around on the dance floor.
