Work Text:
Di Feisheng sits there quietly and watches Li Xiangyi sleep. He thinks in the past Li Xiangyi wouldn't quite have dared to fall asleep so easily in his presence, but Li Lianhua is different. Maybe it's only out of necessity since Li Lianhua doesn't quite have the strength to go without the sleep and can't quite manage to toss Di Feisheng out either. Even with Di Feisheng's inner power currently impaired, Li Lianhua still doesn't have the strength for that. The thought makes Di Feisheng frown as he looks at him.
He could have asked Fang Duobing to toss Di Feisheng out, but he's chosen not to. The most likely reason is that Li Xiangyi doesn't want Di Feisheng to be too annoyed at the brat once he does have his strength back. But perhaps Li Xiangyi doesn't mind Di Feisheng's presence while he sleeps.
As he watches him, Li Xiangyi shivers visibly, unconsciously dragging the blankets a bit closer. The air inside isn't even particularly cold. He frowns again, and then stands up, walking over to the bed and sitting down on the side of it. Li Xiangyi doesn't stir, even though Di Feisheng hadn't been particularly careful. He's too vulnerable, Di Feisheng thinks, and doesn't think too much about the feeling that stirs in his chest.
He reaches for Li Xiangyi's wrist. Even the touch doesn't make him wake up. He can feel the weakness in Li Xiangyi's pulse, the scarcely there inner power, the— He lets go, settling Li Xiangyi's wrist down in a way that could almost be called gentle, tucking his arm under the blanket. Whatever the poison is that had done this to Li Xiangyi, it seems to steal the warmth from his body along with its strength.
He can feel the shivers running through Li Xiangyi's body. They seem to be increasing.
With a frown, Di Feisheng stands up. It takes only a moment to remove his outer robe and set it aside. Then he's back, sitting at the side of the bed. He eyes Li Xiangyi and the bed for a moment, trying to decide the best approach. The bed is far too narrow for the both of them. Then, rather unceremoniously, he shoves Li Xiangyi further to the side, turning him to his side, facing away from Di Feisheng, before lying down next to him, lifting the blanket to cover both of them.
That, finally, seems to be enough to stir Li Xiangyi. He mumbles something and tries to turn his head, to look towards Di Feisheng, but doesn't quite manage to turn it far enough.
"A-Fei?" he mumbles blearily. That name, in Li Xiangyi's sleepy voice, suddenly feels more intimate than ever. "A-Fei. I told you—" Li Xiangyi says, thankfully sounding a bit more indignant this time, or Di Feisheng might have decided to do something foolish.
Li Xiangyi had told him to share the bed upstairs with the brat. "This is closer," Di Feisheng tells him, not bothering with any further explanations. He wraps his arm around Li Xiangyi's chest and pulls him close, until his back is flush against Di Feisheng's chest.
A painful seeming shudder runs through Li Xiangyi's body, a small whimper escaping his lips. Something inside Di Feisheng attempts to stir, even though he knows Li Xiangyi's reaction has nothing to do with pleasure. He pushes it down. There's a moment of complete silence. The shivers wracking Li Xiangyi's body settle slowly until they're barely noticeable.
"Fine. You can stay," Li Xiangyi reluctantly says at last. He sounds more awake now than he had before.
Di Feisheng says nothing, only closes his eyes, and holds Li Xiangyi close, warming him with his own body. All things considered it doesn't take long at all before he feels Li Xiangyi's breaths settle back into sleep. Di Feisheng listens to him for a while, even his breaths aren't quite as steady as they used to be. Finally, after some time, Di Feisheng lets himself follow him into sleep.
