Work Text:
The dread the Yu felt when he saw the monitor flatline cut deep. Nanako, his little cousin, the girl who was always so cheerful, so happy to see him, was dead. It was like his joy was ripped away from him violently, no warning whatsoever. Why is fate so cruel? Is this truly the path that was laid out for him?
Yu knew what he had to do. He had to confront Namatame, no matter the cost. It was that bastard's fault his little cousin is gone. And he would pay.
The rest of the Investigation Team — his friends — followed him, every one of them angry and ready to kill. As they reached Namatame's room, Namatame was backed into a corner, shaking, crying, sniveling like a bratty child.
It was pathetic, Yu caught himself thinking. What a pathetic excuse of a man.
And he heard his friends yelling at Namatame. It escalated. And eventually, his friends were yelling at him. Telling him to make a decision.
His friends were yelling at him. Namatame was sobbing. Nanako was dead. It was at this moment that Yu realised what was at stake.
The responsibility of the culprit, the lives of everyone in Inaba, was all in his and his friends' hands.
Their young, inexperienced, hands.
It was all too much, and he snapped.
"Shut the hell up!!"
It was loud. Louder than he ever had spoken before. And it finally got his friends to calm down and finally be rational.
