Valentine's Day.
Undoubtedly a holiday that Kieran both revered and hated. On one hand, there's a lot of chocolates and sweets to be shared – and while he himself doesn't exactly receive all that much chocolate from his classmates or fellow students, there's still some friendly chocolate from the League Club, his teachers, Carmine, and his grandparents. Which were always welcome! Sweets are one of his most favorite things, after all.
On the other hand, however…
Kieran sits inside the League Club room, chin resting on the back of his hand as his eyes wander, watching as the club's members fawn over the chocolates they've received or the sudden confession and love letters they found in their lockers. For the most part, Kieran doesn't mind. Who was he to dictate how others should behave on today of all days? They were happy, and they deserved that, surely. Hell – he couldn't be mad at it if he tried. Even Carmine had a Valentine, which is the cause of her absence to club activities for today. It sucked, not having his sister around on the day where he felt a little lonely, but there's not much he could do about it.
Contemplating, Kieran takes a look at his Pokéballs, wondering if he should spend time with his Pokémon instead. He needs some company, and they would probably appreciate hanging out with their trainer. It's a win-win situation! It's not like anybody was going to come and train, anyway. In fact, most of the members were already on their way out of the club room…
Kieran was about to leave too, planning to come through with his plan. That is, until he hears the familiar sound of a certain person's yawn.
Looks like he wasn't quiet enough.
Kieran looks behind him, certainly not appreciating the sound, knowing that it will likely just lead to…
"Oiii, Ex-champ…~" Drayton drawls, voice almost slurring and obviously still in the process of waking up from his nap. "C'mere for a sec, 'kay?"
He gestures to Kieran, arm lazily raised as he beckons the younger to approach. Kieran immediately tenses, expression turning slightly sour at the sight of the person he used to hate with all his body and soul. There might be some hate still left in him… but for the most part, Kieran's learned to forgive. Forget, not so much.
He trudges back to Drayton, settling himself back into his seat from before. Luckily for him, it was still warm. Kieran watches as the older smirks.
"Heh," Drayton snickers, a certain mischievous glint sparkling in his one open eye. "Good boy."
Kieran has to resist the urge to hit him in the head right then and there.
"What do you want?" Kieran snaps, though for the most part his voice doesn't sound as angry as it used to be. He keeps silent as Drayton reaches into his pockets, digging around for a bit, then placing a heart-shaped box in the middle of the table. It's cover was transparent, giving a clear view into its contents: chocolate. A lot of them. In front of the box was a cute little doodle of an Applin. Kieran's eyebrows furrow in confusion, staring down at the box, then at Drayton. What was this guy planning now…?
Drayton laughs this time, beginning to push the box towards Kieran. "Happy Valentine's Day, Kieran." His voice is soft; the hints of his sleepiness ever present, yet it only serves to make him sound even more genuine. His usually mischievous demeanor is replaced by a charming, stupidly handsome smile.
Kieran really did try his best.
With his shoulders still tense, his entire face heats up, the redness reaching even his ears. He was used to Drayton teasing him and mocking him and making fun of him. But seeing Drayton regard him this way – with so much gentleness and so much affection, nearly makes Kieran sick. He's unsure if that 'sickness' is meant to be good or bad, but all he knows is that he definitely looks completely and utterly stupid right now.
As if to drive that point home, Kieran is snapped out of his thoughts when he hears Drayton speak again.
"Geez. Litten got your tongue or something? You're not even gonna appreciate my generosity ~?"
Ah. There was that cocky attitude. Kieran is quick to go back to scowling, pushing the box back towards the dragon trainer. He doesn't trust this at all…! Or at least, that's what Kieran says in an attempt to stop himself from getting a little too flustered by the gesture from his greatest enemy. nemesis. crush? annoying senior.
"Knowing you, those things are probably laced with something bitter or spicy. There's no way you'd give me anything good for Valentine's Day…!" With an accusatory glare, he points his index finger at Drayton, pushing his chair to make some distance between himself and the other. After that whole tirade, Drayton laughs, the sound never failing to make Kieran's heart feel like it's about to jump out of his chest. The dragon trainer takes the box back, sleepy murmurs being heard from his mouth as he begins to open the box of chocolates.
Fingers working deftly to untie the ribbon securing the box's lid, Drayton hums. "And after I thought we were finally starting to become friends," He begins, eyes darting over to Kieran. "You really wound me, Ex-champion. But if you don't want 'em, there's no way I'm letting these go to waste." His lips curl into a smile, gaze now turned to the myriad of chocolates. Rather hungrily, too. Kieran almost thinks that Drayton had planned all of this from the beginning, including Kieran's reactions.
Stubbornly, Kieran begins to move his chair back next to Drayton, still keeping a considerable distance away, but at least he's within reach. He watches as Drayton finally frees the chocolates from their prison, wasting no time in taking one out of the box and holding it up for Kieran to see.
"See? Pure chocolate. They have different fillings each, too. We should split them so we can taste 'em all."
With furrowed eyebrows, Kieran begins to nod, slowly. His suspicious are beginning to melt away, seeing Drayton look so excited to try the chocolates. Why exactly, Kieran was unsure. He's seen Drayton's snack stash. He knows that guy has all kinds of sweets and other junk food. Why would he be so excited to try these specific ones out…?
Before Kieran can even get another word out, Drayton quickly pops the whole piece into his mouth, gaze fixated on Kieran as he does so. Kieran opens his mouth to protest, about to point out Drayton's lie and his betrayal, only for those thoughts to be quickly shut down once he feels Drayton's lips on his own.
Kieran spaces out, his brain unable to process the unfolding events. His own body betrays him, falling victim to Drayton's advancements. The sweet taste of chocolate on the other's tongue almost makes Kieran forget – forget his past anger, forget his dislike for Drayton, forget where they were or what day it was. His hands find their way to the older boy's shoulder, pushing him away. Kieran exhales, face as red as a tamato berry and breathing labored from the extended time spent without air. Silence lingers in the air, the emptiness of the club room only making it more unbearable.
Without another word, Kieran takes a second chocolate piece. He stands up, making his way towards the currently dumbfounded Drayton. With a swift movement he takes ahold of the other's clothes, effectively pulling Drayton towards him until they were only inches apart.
Kieran speaks, glare intensifying. "You really are an idiot, are you?" He mutters, watching as Drayton's face also turns the same shade of red as his own. It's cute, Kieran thinks to himself. A far cry from the usual Drayton who always sported that annoying, shit-eating grin that thought it always knew everything about everyone. Drayton has his hands up in surrender, waiting for more violent reactions from Kieran… only to be met with a smile.
"Did you really wait until Valentine's Day to tell me? But then again, you didn't exactly tell me, huh… for someone who always talks on and on about his smartass ideas, you're pretty stupid to think you could win me over with sweets."
The tension is relieved ever so slightly. Drayton raises an eyebrow, now also beginning to smile back. He must admit, hearing Kieran say even a single vulgar word is somehow going straight to his dick. "Is it working?" He asks, gaze hopeful for once.
Kieran takes the chocolate into his mouth, shrugging as a response right before closing the distance between them. Using his tongue he slips the remaining chocolate into Drayton's own mouth, smiling into the 'kiss' when he feels and hears Drayton's surprised moan. Their heated liplock continues for a few seconds more, with Kieran eventually being forced to let go of Drayton to give the other the chance to breathe.
And breathe, he does. Drayton gasps when the younger finally lets go of his clothes, slumping up against the chair he was sitting in. Suffice to say, that was most definitely the most heated 'first kiss' he's ever had. A chill runs up his spine as he stares up at Kieran, towering over him with a playful little smirk on his lips. Their roles have been reversed this time, and yet Drayton doesn't find it regrettable at all.
"You know," Drayton begins, breathless. "If I knew you kissed that aggressively, I would have went through with this whole chocolate idea way sooner…! You're lucky the club room's empty right now. Can't have anybody seeing that moment of vulnerability in the hands of the cutest Ex-champion to grace our school."
Kieran rolls his eyes, though the smallest hint of a chuckle makes its way out of his lips when he replies. "Oh, they'll find out. You're not really good at hiding to begin with," He hums, taking his spot on Drayton's lap this time. Arms wrap around the older's neck, Kieran moving in to speak in a hushed voice.
"For now, though, I want to be the only one who knows that side of you."
