And so as the fear dissolved away, a different feeling replaced it, one that sent Stiorra’s heart soaring once more. A feeling that energized her instead of paralyzing her, coursing through her veins with an insatiable hunger that could only be satisfied by one thing. One person. A feeling that she saw dancing across the surface of Sigtryggr’s eyes like the flames of driftwood fires, melting away his worry with every flicker.
They’d almost been caught. They’d almost fought for their lives.
