Leah's In Love

Summary:

Leah has a talk with her parents after an incident that happened earlier in the day. And deep down, she has a fear that she is having a bit of time trying to get over it.

Work Text:

Aziraphale stood in front of the door that leads to his daughter’s bedroom. Earlier in the day, Leah got flustered and embarrassed when they were at the supermarket. All because her crush, a guy from the school that she and Cybil attend, was there at the same time as her and her parents. Her and her crush spoke but it felt awkward having her parents watching her after a bit. Aziraphale felt so bad because he could feel that their daughter was feeling that way.

“Here it goes. I hope that she is not mad at me.” Aziraphale said quietly to himself then gave the door a couple of knocks with his hand. A few seconds later, he heard footsteps coming towards the door then suddenly stopped. The door suddenly opened and there stood their 15-year-old daughter, looking at him. Aziraphale smiled at her.

“Leah, I just wanted to come check on you...and apologize for what happened earlier. I really did not mean for that to happen, and I am so sorry. I hope that you are okay.” Aziraphale said to her. Leah was surprised to hear that.

“I appreciate that and thank you. I am okay. It...it is not either of you or Dad’s fault for what happened at the supermarket. It is just myself who made me feel that way.” Leah responded.

“I understand. Still...you never have to feel that way in front of us when it comes to one of your friends.” Aziraphale let her know. For Leah, this guy was more than just a friend. At least, that is not what they and Crowley know.

“Mama...could you come in for a few minutes, please? I do need to explain something to you.” Leah asked. She was nervous but felt that if she explained it, it would be better for her.

“Are you sure?” Aziraphale wanted to make sure. Leah nodded.

“Yes, please.” Leah replied. Several seconds later, the angel was fully in her room.

“So... what did you want to explain to me?” They asked a question this time. Leah walked over to her bed and sat on the side of it before looking at her mother again.

“That guy I was talking to...he is a friend but at the same time...he is different to me than what I have with Cybil.” Leah started to say.

“What is he like to you?” Aziraphale wanted her to go on with what she was trying to tell him. Leah looked at the floor below her.

“I..I have a huge crush on him.” Leah confessed. The angel’s eyes widened.

“Oh!” Aziraphale exclaimed. Leah looked back up at him.

“That is why I reacted the way I did at the supermarket. I really like him and all of that. I just was caught by surprise seeing him there at the same time as we were.” Leah explained. Aziraphale walked over and sat next to her on the bed.

“Is it just a crush that you feel for him?” Aziraphale asked. Leah blushed.

“I.. I am actually in love with him.” Leah made another confession to her mother. They smiled again.

“It is okay to feel that way. I am not judging you for that. I will never judge you for something like this.” Aziraphale said to her.

“What about Dad? How would he feel if he found out that I am in love with that guy?” Leah asked.

“You will not get any judgement from me, I promise you that.” A voice suddenly spoke from the doorway. Aziraphale and Leah looked to see that Crowley was standing in front of the door, watching them.

“How long have you been standing there?” Aziraphale asked.

“Not too long. I overheard you both talking and I just wanted to make sure that things were okay.” Crowley replied to Aziraphale then looked at his daughter.

“And I am also sorry about what happened earlier, too. Being a teenager is not an easy age to be, and I am not going to make you feel less uneasy about what happened. I also figured that is why you reacted the way you did but I was not going to say anything about it. Also, you never feel any pressure from anyone. It is okay to take your time with such things.” Crowley also said to her, too. Leah felt less worried about what her father would think about all of this.

“I mean, I am not sure if I am ready to date at the moment when the time comes but..I do not want to not tell him how I feel about him before it could be too late. And I am not ready for that OTHER stuff as well.” Leah told both of them.

“And that is okay. If you want to tell him how you feel, then do it when the time feels right for you. ..Lord knows that it took your mother a little over 6000 years to finally tell me how they felt, and I would not have it any other way. And when that time comes for you for that “other” stuff, we will guide you and give you advice.” Crowley said back. Leah felt good to know that. And Aziraphale felt touched by what Crowley said.

“I would not have it or you any other way. Nor would I have our family any other way either.” Aziraphale also spoke up. Leah loved seeing her parents being loving and in love with each other. It put a smile on her face.

“And I am so glad to have you as both my parents.” Leah piped up. Crowley and Aziraphale looked at her.

“We love you so much, dear.” Aziraphale let out.

“I love you both so much, too. I know I am not a perfect child, but I am trying my best to be a good person.” Leah told them.

“All we ask for you to be the best version of you and you are such a wonderful girl. Nobody can be perfect. That is something is quite impossible. Hell, I am the definition of not exactly being a perfect demon but in a way, I am very okay with that. Does not mean that it is a bad thing.” Crowley admitted.

“And I am no perfect angel myself either. We all have things that keep us from being perfect but like your father said, that is not a bad thing.” Aziraphale added. All of a sudden, Crowley let out a chuckle. Aziraphale heard it.

“What was the chuckle for?” Aziraphale was curious.

“Oh, what you just said. I have a TON of stories I could tell our daughter about our adventures throughout the centuries but...I will leave it for another day. A day when you want to tell her together with me.” Crowley replied. Aziraphale understood, still smiling.

“Of course.” Aziraphale agreed.

“So... everything is okay?” Leah piped up.

“Of course.” Aziraphale replied.

“Definitely. No need to worry about anything. Everything is fine between the three of us.” Crowley added. Leah let out a deep breath.

“Good. I am glad.” Leah said, feeling happy. Being able to tell both of her parents did make things easier for her but now, she needs to tell her friend about how she feels about him. Yet...Leah still was not sure when that time would be.

“By the way, what was his name again? I heard you say it but I was not exactly sure that I heard it correctly.” Aziraphale suddenly asked.

“His name is Riku. He is from Japan.” Leah replied.

“Ah! It seems that he also likes the same style as you do, too.” Aziraphale spoke up.

“We have a lot in common actually.” Leah spoke. Crowley noticed that Leah was starting to become a little flustered again.

“I think we should just let this go for now, dear. Let her talk about when she feels ready to.” Crowley suggested. Aziraphale agreed after noticing his daughter’s reaction, too. After a few more minutes, Crowley and Aziraphale left their daughter’s bedroom, after requesting that she wanted to stay in there for a little longer. When the door closed, she laid on the bed and let out a sigh.

“I am glad that they are okay with this but at the same time...I just wish that I was not so flustered about it. I hope that I will be able to talk about this with them without feeling like this.” Leah said to herself then turned to look up at the ceiling.

And I hope that one day I can tell Riku how I feel about him. He already knows that I am not human but...he does not know that I really like him more than a friend. Even if he doesn't like me the same way I feel about him...I do not want to lose him as a friend either. I guess that is why I feel conflicted about telling him. It is not the rejection but losing him as a whole. I would be devastated if I lost him even as a friend.” Leah thought.

Leah will one day have to tell her male friend how she feels about him but for now, she was not sure how she was going to do this or when to do it. Hopefully, Leah will be able to do it sooner than later. Even at 15 years old, she was not ready to date but maybe when she turns 16, she will be ready. Like her father said, she should never feel any pressure and that is what Leah is going to do. Not let it worry her as much as she possibly can.

Will she be able to tell her crush about her feelings for him? Most likely yes. Will it be tomorrow, most likely not. Regardless, Leah knows that she wants to be with him. That she is very sure of but it is the chance of losing him as a friend that has her also very worried. But as of now, Leah was just going to make sure when the time comes that she is truly ready without this fear of losing his friendship.
