Work Text:

Falling was a unique feeling, one which Grian knew quite well, with his wings and love for flying, but this time was different.

It all began with Scar, when Grian guided a creeper to Scar to scare him as a prank, but accidentally killed him.

Slowly, more and more of them lost their lives, going from Green names, to Yellow ones, to Red.

And then Jimmy died.

And with the Canary dead and the miners trapped in the cave that was this world, Death was bound to claim the rest of them.

Cleo, Skizz, Joel, Scott, Etho, Tango, Ren, Martyn, Impulse, BigB, and Bdubs.

Then it was just Scar and him, and while Scar wanted Grian to take his final life, neither Grian nor the spectators wanted that.

So they set up a ring of cacti near Pizza’s grave.

They let the ghosts count them in, before they began to punch one another.

As the fight went on, they slowly left the ring, and moved closer to Pizza’s grave.

And finally Grian punched his ally one last time.

Grian ignored the ghosts as he walked up to the edge of the cliff, and jumped.

So there he was, falling.

And finally he hit the ground, accepting the sweet relief of death.

Which apparently never came.

He slowly got up, and looked around him, where he found tiny pieces of gold and emerald.

A totem.

How he managed to get one of those he didn’t know, or why he would use one now, when he didn’t want to live.

He grabbed his communicator and noticed that everyone else was gone.

‘At least they managed to escape’ Grian thought, solemnly.

Grian kept staring at his communicator, and began to read through the chat, but he mostly kept staring at a single message.

Ren’s final words, “that cactis needS A KILL”

Putting his communicator away, Grian began to make his way back up to the top of the mountain.

Once he had reached the top, he slowed down, taking in the ring of cacti and Pizza’s grave.

He didn’t look long there, as he didn’t want to spend any time looking at Scar’s body.

Instead, he slowly made his way into the ring, and rammed his body into one of the cacti.

He felt the needles pierce his skin, which slowly stabbed him to death.

Right when he was supposed to die, was he thrust back by an invisible force, falling down in the middle of the ring.

As he hit the ground, shards of gold and emerald shot out as if by an explosion.

Grian got up, and looked at the pieces laying around him.

His mind began to run, trying to figure out why he wasn’t allowed to die.

His wings spread out to their full width, unrestrained by the binds the Watchers had used on them, as Grian faced to the sky and screamed.

Scott immediately knew that something was off.

He doubted the lightning that had just struck him had been natural, which meant that Grian had used /kill on him.

Which did not explain why he was still alive, and surrounded by shards of a used totem of undying.

A totem would be unable to help in surviving /kill, nothing could save you.

Yet somehow he lived.

Slowly Scott began to think about how he could have survived /kill.

‘Is it because I ignored the boogieman curse? Did that not make me lose a life? No, that would mean I would’ve respawned again.’

‘Is it because I won?’

He slowly pulled out his communicator, where he saw that he was the only person left on the server.

And there was still no way to leave.

“Great.” Scott said to no one.

Scott began to walk away, when he saw Ren’s corpse lying on the ground.

Despite the fact that he had tried to kill Scott mere minutes ago, Scott felt bad for him.

He pulled a shovel out of his inventory, and dug two blocks down, before dragging Ren’s body into it.

After covering it back up, he chopped down a nearby tree and made a sign.

‘Here lies Rendog’

He stared at the sign for some time, before turning around and leaving, he has many more to make.

And up next was Martyn.

He collected enough dirt to cover up the creeper hole the man had fallen into, and placed another sign on top of it.

Up next was his fellow G, Girlboss, also known as Pearl.

He winced when he saw the state that her body was in.

The lower half of her body was heavily burnt, Scott felt like Scar would compare it to what happened to Anakin.

He slowly picked her up, and began to make his way to their base.

Once he arrived, he carefully sat Pearl down before grabbing his shovel and digging two graves.

Once he was done, he placed Pearl in the first grave and filled it back up, placing a sign on top, and saying a quick goodbye.

One by one, Scott made a grave for each person as close to where they had died, except for Cleo, who he buried in his base, next to Pearl.

And finally, there was one more person he had to bury, Jimmy.

Scott felt a pang of sadness when he looked at the avian’s corpse, and decided that he wasn’t going to bury him where he had died.

The trip back to the Scottage was already quite long, but it was made harder by the fact that Scott was carrying an avian as he did it.

Once he was back home he made a third grave, in which he placed Jimmy, before covering him up and placing a sign.

Scott was now officially the only person in this world.

He felt lonely.

“Tilly death do us part!”

Those words kept replaying in Pearl’s mind.

A promise made by her soulmate Scott, and seeing as both he and Tilly were now dead, She was free.

She looked at the army of dogs around her as a smile slowly appeared on her face.

She led the pack home, and designated one of the dogs to be the new Tilly, now on her red life, same as her.

She also got some string and red dye and made a string similar to the one around her finger.

Once she was done, she stepped back.

“There we go, Tilly, now we’re really soulmates.”

Over the next few weeks she slowly grew her pack, and she also began to take care of the Jellie pandas in Scar’s absence, since they both were left by their soulmates.

One full month after Pearl had won, she was sitting in her tower, Tilly by her side, watching as a blood red moon rose in the night sky.

She pulled her hood up over her head, it seemed the server agreed with her as well.

Scarlet Pearl had to win.

The sudden silence unnerved Martyn.

All throughout the 24 hours, which were more like 8 weeks, the sounds had been growing louder.

The constant tick tock of the timer, the explosions which grew more common as time passed.

And the subtle hum of the Watchers, ever present until the very end.

And then the final three, Martyn could barely think with the cacophony in his ears.

But there was one voice which was clear to him among the noise, it was one he didn’t recognise, as it was not one of the people who had died.

“Those who have wronged us, Hand.”

The new voice seemed like it had spoken because Scott had mentioned Scar and Grian, why, Martyn didn’t know.

But what he did know, was that he was gonna follow his Liege .

“They will pay the ultimate price.”

Martyn grabbed his bucket of lava.

“Nah, I don’t wanna play this silly game.”

Martyn killed Scott before the fellow Mean Gill had a chance to react.

As he chased Impulse he told him that it wouldn’t matter what team he was a part of,

All would die by the Red King’s Hand.

He then watched as Xelqua appeared in front of him, and attempted to end his life.

All the Watcher managed to achieve, was breaking the Listener’s clock.

Martyn laughed as the so called Deity left, and silence fell over the world.

And while it did indeed unnerve him, he quickly embraced it, finally freed from the everpresent gaze of the Watchers.

‘Win Secret Life’

Scar read those words a few times, mostly to make sure he was reading them correctly.

Didn’t he just win, he had become the villain of the server, and he had killed Pearl, who was the last person left.

He closed the scroll, and pressed succeed once more, gaining another few hearts.

He was about to leave, to go back to his base, when he saw another scroll appear in front of him.

He slowly opened it, and yep.

‘Win Secret Life’

He immediately closed it and put it away in his inventory, before he headed back to his base.

Once he was back home he began to take care of the many sunflowers, as well as switching into his outfit from when he was green.

The next day, he began by walking to the Secret Keeper, and pressing the button for ‘Succeed’.

‘W╎n Sᒷcrᒷt L╎fᒷ’

He ignored the weird characters and simply put the scroll away before going on with his day.

Over the next few days, he would check the scroll.

Sometimes the letters would all be normal, while other times almost all of them would be weird symbols.

Scar slowly got used to them, and began to memorise which symbol was which letter.

Until a month after he’d won, when he once again made his way to the Secret Keeper, and pressed succeed.

Scar stared at the block of text, as he tried to decipher what it could say.

Scar decided that the rest of the book would be a puzzle, where he had to figure out what each word said and what letter each character represented.

Over the course of the next few days, he worked on the text, he had stopped visiting the Secret Keeper, not wanting to lose the scroll, even if he had made several copies.

It took him two months to fully translate the text, and when he was done, he kept rereading it.

You have not won this game

You try to say so each day

You are not the only one

Others are stuck in the games they won

You will all finally be freed

Once you kill LDShadowLady

Scar tried to remember when Lizzie died, and it took some time until he remembered week 6.

He had forgotten her death with all the chaos that broke out.

Lizzie had fallen into the void, which should mean that there would be no way for her to still be alive.

Unless,

The void was the absence of everything, with no exceptions.

Which might mean that since Lizzie was on her final life, her life wasn’t ended by the void, since the world did not need to respawn her.

Filled with determination and a bit of fear, Scar walked to the Secret Keeper.

Rather than pressing succeed, he walked over to the center button and rerolled his task to get a harder one.

‘Find and Kill LDShadowLady

You shall not fail, and you shall not die’

Scar let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.

He needed to find the end portal.
