Hogwarts Castle
Professor Rooms
Remus woke up from a deep sleep, he stumbled into the living room to see Severus lay on the couch with music coming out of the speakers hidden around the room. The music style was familiar enough, and Remus even thought he recognised the voice signing. The lyrics on the other hand was unfamiliar.
"I know you have been looking forward to this album release, Sev, but you know listening to their music makes you sad when you feel like this."
That had been one long hard conversation with Severus, but one very necessary. To have one's deepest regrets, fears and hopes put into words was a powerful weapon. One that Remus had seen, able to motivate beyond compare and tear down any last defences standing.
Made him feel he's different, through and through
Severus easily moved aside as Remus sat down beside him, and let Severus' head rest on his lap.
Surrounded by the ghosts of paling pictures, they come and slip away
Carding his fingers through Severus' hair, untangling the few knots he could find, Remus listened to the music that Severus had declined to turn off at the moment.
And the memories and the embers of what we'd hoped it all would be
"How can I still miss her like this, even now that she has been dead for far longer than she was alive.
Wish I didn't fail to say those words, before you'd have to leave
Lily would have turned fifty-nine yesterday, had it not been for the war. For their own actions and inactions, she might have seen the day.
I close the door behind me
"Sometimes I still think I see a glimpse of her, that one moment before I remember it can't be."
The crazy part ain't dreaming, wishing on a falling star. It's the world that's in between the cope and you
"And the worst part is, there were many people we lost. Far too many. And I loved them just as dearly, or even more, than her. Yet when it comes down to it, she is the only one I still see."
I close my eyes and see a magic world in sepia. That cast me out onto a road without a clue
“She is the only one I am unable to let go off, even after all these years.”
Breathing odour of lavender, and it's all coming back to me
"She wouldn’t wish for us to dream of that past, Sev. We all knew that what we were fighting for was dangerous, that every step we took could be our last."
Wish I didn't fail to say those words, before you'd have to leave
"But we overcame it, we fought for peace and tranquillity, and we can now give it to our children. And when you are ready, we will learn to look at the past, no longer with regret, but with the knowledge that they loved us, no matter our imperfections."
