It's been a long fucking day and Joey's fucking exhausted. He slept like shit last night, and the night before, and the night before that. And he loves touring, loves getting to play shows and then drink till he pukes every night, but the lack of sleep is really starting to get to him.
He declines the post show drinks, skips the after party altogether, tells Wednesday he's gonna head back to the hotel before sneaking out the back to avoid the inevitable comments about him leaving early. Wednesday’s following behind him a moment later.
“You could've stayed, man. I can make it back on my own.”
“Nah, I gotta make sure you don't get kidnapped by a crazy fan.”
They walk back quietly, hand in hand.
Joey kicks off his shoes the minute he gets in their room, strips off most of his clothes and crawls in the bed.
“Tired?”
Joey hums in response. His eyes are already closed. He hears the shuffling of Wednesday getting undressed, feels the bed dip as he gets in and gets comfortable. He falls asleep to the motion of Wednesday’s fingers in his hair, wakes up the next morning with Wednesday’s arm around him, feeling better than he has in weeks.
