Chapter Text

It was a normal day on Berk, everyone was going on about their day, preparing in case dragons attack. Hiccup was sharpening swords and more. Fishlegs grabbed a book about dragons and took a walk down to the beach, it was his favorite reading spot.

He sat down on a rock, his rock, and opened the book. It was about dragons, their weaknesses, how to kill them, their powers and more. As he was reading, he heard the waves crashing against the shore, but he didn't notice that there was a dragon emerging from the water. It was larger then a viking, large wings, gills on the side of it's neck, black and purple iridescent scales, eat fins and a tail that was made for swimming. The dragon came out of the water and stared at Fishlegs, but he didn't notice at all, too emerged in his book. "Whoa, I didn't even know that yet!" Fishlegs giggled to himself as he read about dragons.

The dragon went around him, it slowly approached and finally, Fishlegs heard the sand of the beach cracking as if someone was walking closer. He looked up at saw the large dragon right in front of him, Fishlegs teansed up. Fishlegs was responsibly scared of this huge creature in front of him, he had always heard that dragons will kill a viking on sight, but the dragon just stared at him with big yellow eyes. Fishlegs didn't dear to move a muscle, he could feel the sweat form on his forehead and trickle down his face.

The dragon got even closer, it sniffed him, it pressed it's snout into Fishlegs' chest and took a big sniff of him as if trying to get his scent, it squinted its eyes as it looked up at him and Fishlegs quickly made the assumption that it couldn't see that well. But that didn't matter when he was seeing his life flash before his eyes, but, the dragon just licked his face. It's large tongue licking up all the sweat and slightly tickling him enough for him to let out a soft chuckle. Of dear Thor, let him survive this.

Fishlegs was still terrified, but slowly, his hand reached up and he touched the dragons soft yet cold scales. Gently, he rubbed the top of the dragons head which made it rub into him even more. "Maybe you aren't that bad" fishlegs muttered to himself and kept petting the dragon like some sort of dog. The dragons tail even wagged slightly like an actual dogs tail would! It was kind of... cute. Just when Fishlegs was about to reach for the dragons back, he heard a voice behind him yell, it was one of the adult vikings, they saw him with a dragon "HEY! WATCH OUT BOY!" They quickly ran over to Fishlegs, but the dragon ran into the water of the sea before they could reach him. The vikings quickly checked on Fishlegs to check if any limbs were missing or if he had gotten attacked.

"Are you alright, boy?" One of them asked and Fishlegs only manged to nod his head, he was still stunned by what had happened. He had never felt scales that soft and smooth before, or any scales at all. The vikings helped Fishlegs back to his house and his mother hugged him and cried a bit once she heard that he had been "attacked" by a dragon, which wasn't even true.

"But I wasn't attacked! It was friendly!" Fishlegs protested, but none of the adults believed him, they simple thought he was in shock. His mother dragged him over to his bed, kissed his cheek and tugged him in. She was full of worry for her baby boy, something that he hated. He didn't want to be treated like a child. In the middle of the night, Fishlegs got out of bed and over to his table to sketch out what he had seen. A beautiful creature, like a myth itself.

It was a truly beautiful creature and Fishlegs even wondered if that was what sailors had mistaken for mermaids, it had to be, the tail fit the description, not to mention how gratefully it was swimming through the water.

That night, Fishlegs had a dream about the dragon again, riding on it, petting it, and even swimming with it in the water. It was the best dream that he had ever had. He usually only ever had nightmares where he got ripped into pieces by a dragon, his guts ripped out and food, but this time he had a nice dream about a dragon which shocked even him.

The next day, when Fishlegs woke up, he noticed that his book was gone. Fishlegs probably had left it on the beach last night, where he had also met this mysterious dragon. He had to go back and get his book. Maybe he'd even see that dragon again, he should bring a notebook too to write things down about this dragon.

Once Fishlegs arrived at the beach once again, there wasn't a single dragon in sight, but at least he saw that his book was still on the rock that he usually read at. Fishlegs was a bit sad that the dragon was nowhere to be found, but he sat down and waited. He waited for hours on that stop, only for the dragon to arrive once it was sundown. But once the dragon saw him, it jumped out of the water and strutted over to Fishlegs, it's tail slightly wagging in the process.

The mysterious dragon snuggled up to Fishlegs which shocked him, he didn’t expect such affection form a creature like that. Maybe it hadn't met a lot of humans yet since it lived in the sea?

Fishlegs gently petted the dragons once more, to his surprise, after a few minutes of petting the dragon it rolled over onto its belly, Fishlegs took the opportunity to inspect what gender the dragon was and saw that she was a girl. Now he didn't have to call her an it anymore. But now it felt like he needed a name for this beautiful dragon girl, maybe faststorm since she was so fast in the water? yeah, hell leave at I that for now
