Why are you like this, Jetfire?

Summary:

Our guys can go on an actual date for once! Hopefully no one is sick! (LIES)

Prompt: "Our date can wait! You're far too important."

Notes:

The whole searching for tags, fandoms and relationships thing is kinda broken rn so it's gonna look a little weird in the tags til it gets fixed. Also I can't search the collection sooooo that's fun.

Good luck to everyone working to fix the issue 🫡

Update- it's fixed!! Thanks ao3 staff!! 🎊

Work Text:

Cybertron had been building up quite well for the past few cycles. Many recreational spots had opened up, some of those spots being perfect for dates.

Given that Jetfire and Red Alert got together at a time where there was nothing left, they were going to take any and every opportunity to go on a date.

Even if Jetfire was feeling under the weather…

No matter, he loved going on dates, he should be fine. Fine enough at least.

Plus, where they were going on a date was a new restaurant that had opened, and Red Alert had been excited to go for a while now.

A little cold wasn’t going to ruin that.

As Jetfire was preparing himself in the washroom, he heard the front door open.

“Jet?”

“In here!” A little bit of static went through, but hopefully not enough to warrant suspicion from Red Alert.

Joins of being conjunxed to a doctor.

Red Alert came into the washroom, standing beside Jetfire.

”Hello, love. Are you ready?”

“Just give me a klik to wash up, then we can go.”

Red Alert turned on the faucet, and splashed water over his face. Jetfire resisted the urge to kiss Red’s helm; as much as he loved Red, he didn’t want Red Alert to get sick.

“Alright, let’s go.” Red Alert extended a hand out to Jetfire, who took it, and both of them went out the front door.

The new restaurant was in walkable distance, neither one of them had to transform. Most of the walk, Jetfire kept suppressing any sort of coughing. He couldn’t, Red would get concerned, and-

“Jet, you good?”

“Uh, ya.” Oh, more static went through his voice than he wanted to. This time, Red Alert seemed to notice.

“You sure?”

“You don’t sound good.”

“Red, I’m fine, don’t worry about me.”

“…let me feel your forehead.”

Jetfire deadpanned. “Do you not trust me that much?”

“Only because I know you. C’mon, give me your forehead.”

Jetfire sighed in defeat and leaned down, feeling Red’s hand against his forehead. Red Alert knew him too well.

“Ya, you have a fever. C’mon, let’s head back.”

Jetfire stood up. “Red, you wanted to go to this forever, and we finally have the chance-“

“Our date can wait, you’re more important.”

“…you sure-“

“I’m a fragging doctor, Jetfire, I’m sure.” He took Jetfire’s hand and squeezed it. “I love you, and I don’t want you suffering for me. We’ll get more days off, we will go to the restaurant. Just not today.”

“Alright then. Lead the way.”

“Calm down, we’re just going back home.”
