“Devon! Look!”
Devon and Chloe were simply on a morning walk, Chloe insisted that they go get some real food for breakfast, when a neighborhood cat came out onto the street. Before Devon could say anything, Chloe was already running out to the cat.
“Chloe! Don't pet the cat!”
The cat was fluffy, and immediately came up to Chloe. It headbutted her, and started purring.
“Aw, Devon, how can I not pet the cat?”
“No, Chloe, you can’t pet the cat!”
“Oh, why not?”
Devon groaned. “You are allergic. We’ve been through this a million times. Don’t pet the cat.”
Chloe picked up the cat, scratching behind its ear. “Uh, people can grow out of cat allergies! Maybe today is the day I grow out of mine!”
“You said that last week,” Devon deadpanned.
“That was seven days ago! Anything could happen!”
“I highly doubt it!”
Chloe clutched the cat close to her chest. “I am hugging this cat, and there is nothing you can do to stop me!”

“You need a tissue?”
It hadn’t been even twenty minutes, the pair had just gotten their breakfast, and Chloe was already sneezing her internal organs everywhere.
“Mmm…you shoosh.”
“I’ll take that as a yes.” Devon reached into his messenger bag, and pulled out a few tissues, handing them to Chloe.
“Thank you…” Chloe blew her nose into them, using them all immediately.
“What did we learn today?”
“That I shouldn’t pet cats I find on the street?”
“Exactly. And are you going to actually do this?”
Chloe thought for a moment. “Hmmm…no.”
Devon sighed. “I don’t know what I was expecting.”
“Oh my god, it’s the same cat again!”
“Chloe!”
